I don't mind the sound of rain. It's basically "white noise".

Well the beauty of watching national news is that big orange blob cover a lot of territory...so our Yuma dry 103 is actually doable and we're not alone

Currently under tornado watch, pouring rain sideways, gusts of water from every direction so water in my screen porch, palms dipping to the ground, pond behind us filled in minutes, thunder, lightning, whistling .... and I'm getting read to take a nap to all the sounds of nature!

Metal roofs, hitting the leaves on trees by a cabin in the mountains, or oceanfront…those are the best. But yes I love it!

Neutral, never really thought about it until I saw this survey. Loud/violent storms at night with thunder/lightning when sleeping are just annoying, making it harder to sleep, but doesn't really happen that often.

Neutral I guess. A steady, gentle rain, nice. A stormy rain with lots of wind and weather warnings, not so much.

If it's just rain, I like it. It's soothing, and sometimes it cools things off in the summers. But if it's a Cat 5 Skarnado Thunderrain, absolutely not. Scare me to death.

- I want to know what you instinctively feel in your body due to the sound of rain on the roof/windows/etc.

I think it depends on what the roof is made of and how much insulation there is when actually hearing the rain fall.

If there is a well insulated roof where the rain sounds like a pleasant pitter-patter or background white-noise, that is great.

Yet, I've also been in some trucks or trailers where the rain is deafening as it hits the metal roof with nothing to damper the sound. It's like being inside a metal drum.

Living in an apartment now, I miss the sound of rain on the roof. I can only tell it's raining due to hearing how windy it is outside. Especially when the wind gently blows the drops against the windows.
