I really enjoyed the snowboard racing last night. The one that had 4 people going down the course at the same time. Sorry, forget what it was called. The final race was VERY exciting!! :thumbsup2

And Curling! :rotfl2: We've been watching that in the afternoon on MSNBC. There may be hope for me getting into the Olympics yet.... even at my advanced age. Really though, what a cool event. The only thing that bugs me about Curling is the sounds coming out of the players. I don't know if they're really saying anything of if it's some sort of code. :scratchin

Anyone else enjoying something you didn't think you would like?

My DH and I have become addicted to the curling as well this year. :rotfl: Before this year I had never seen this before. I agree...the sounds are quite strange...I called my husband at work 20 minutes ago to tell him men's curling was on USA network....hahahaha

I have really enjoyed the snowboarding too. I think because the kids look like they're having so much fun and at the end of their runs they seem genuinely happy for the guy who won. They're just all laid back, unlike the Bodie Millers of the downhill circuit who seem so high-strung.

I can't watch the Skeleton races, though. All I can think about is the head injuries at 60mph

Yep, another curling fan here...must be my Scottish roots coming out!!! My dh just rolls his eyes at me. But it is very cool, and I think I'm actually beginning to understand it!

The snowboarding cross last night kicked butt. I would love to do that.

The snowboarding cross was cool. I felt bad though since at least one person wiped out in every run!

I too have found myself watching some curling.

My DH and I really enjoyed the Snowboard Cross event last night! Also, the Speedskating - Short Track Relay is fun to watch. They have all the skaters on the ice at one time. Very controlled "chaos" and exciting to watch!

I sat here yesterday evening with my 18yo son, two of his friends and my dh watching curling. I kept laughing about the fact that we were doing this. What amazed me was that dh and one of son's friends knew the rules and all this odd stuff about curling. I looked at them and said how in the world do you know this?

I loved the snowboard racing last night. I found myself on the edge of my seat during the last race.

I have to admit that I've enjoyed the snowboarding events. Curling...well, I still don't get it, but I think it's a hoot to listen to the commentary, because they're speaking English, but I don't understand what they're talking about!

That short track relay...you've got to admire those skaters for having the focus to keep track of what is going on in there!

I also admit that I'm a sucker for everyone's stories...the skier who was abandoned on the streets of S. Korea, the Russian skater whose coach left him a bunch of music to skate to before the coach died of leukemia, etc.

They have snowboarding cross at our local ski resorts occasionally. I tried the course one day after the contest and it is hard enough to get down it going at a normal speed, let along going full speed with 3 other people. That olympic course they're using is by far one of the sweetest ones I've ever seen.

Me too! I do root for the Americans first but I hate see anyone fail.

I am a new fan of the snowboarding cross and love the short track speed skating. It's just like watching a dog race. One goes down or bumps another and look out!!! :rotfl:

I did not realize how much I would enjoy watching snowboarding. Shockingly, I think it's probably my second favorite sport besides ice skating to watch! I loved the halfpipe and the cross.
