I printed out from somewhere (can't remember where I cut and pasted) that a Studio with a daybed at BWV will accomodate 4 adults, 1 child under 5 and a child under 3. Am I wrong??

Iwish I could find the page I copied. It had a description of all the rooms and what came in each room...i.e. detailed list of what was in the kitchen of the rooms.

I can't say whether you are wrong or not, but I kinda doubt it. DVC will NOT guarantee a room with a daybed at the time of booking...it's simply the luck of the draw as to whether you get one of these rooms or not.

Regardless, be advised that a better name for the daybed would probably be "bench." I've seen photos of this piece of furniture, and my 3yo wouldn't fit on it--much less be comfortable sleeping there.

Check this page at Allearsnet for info on the Boardwalk Villas:

http://www.allearsnet.com/acc/faq_bwv.htm

It does mention the allowance for one child sleeping in a daybed, but I would personally question whether that is accurate or not. Either way, as I said, a room with a daybed is not guaranteed at the time of booking to DVC members. Not sure if they will guarantee it for cash reservations or not.

On a personal note, if you're hoping to put 6 people in a BWV Studio room, I really think you are making a mistake. You're gonna be elbow-to-elbow for the entire trip. For what you would pay to rent DVC points, you can probably pay cash for adjoining rooms at one of the Value resorts, and have a bit more space to play with. Just my $.02....

I agree. No matter what the "legal" limit is, 6 people is WAY too many to fit comfortably in a studio.

We do not mind the room size. I want the small kitchen for quick breakfasts in the morning. It would be me, DH and 4 yr old in 1 bed. 15 and 8 yr old in other bed plus 2 yr old. Disney was ready to book me for our group in a studio at Boarwalk Inn and I figured maybe I could rent points and have same group in studio.

If I got daybed, then maybe I could get 4 yr old in it.

We spent last vacation in a rented trailer home but add 1 grandma. We were fine. We are those people who just need a place to crash at night.

Thanks for the link!

We considered staying at Pop but I hate the idea of having an extra room to the hallway and an extra balcony to try to hang over.

In case you don't already know, the BWV studios all contain 1 queen bed and a double sleep sofa. The dedicated studios are the ones that contain the "daybed" in addition. As already noted, you are not guaranteed to get one of the dedicated units - it is by request only. There aren't very many dedicated studios compared to the number of lock off studios.

I've stayed in a dedicated studio at BwV and heartily agree that the daybed is more of a bench. It's very narrow and only about 4 feet long. It might work as a bed for your 4 year old, but don't be surprised if he/she falls out of it during the night! It's also too hard to be a bed, IMHO. We used it to stack/store our souvenir purchases.

Best wishes -

This past June our family of 5 was in a BWV studio that had a daybed.

The room had a queen bed, double sofa bed and daybed. We also used the pack-n-play for our 6 month old DD.

It was DH & Me in the queen and DS (8 & 6) in the sofa bed.

When I called about my ressie I was told 4 people plus a child under 3 are okay in the studio.

Good luck with your plans.

You call sleeping with a 4 year old in the bed a honeymoon? We have 4 kids and love the 2 bedroom, DH and I get our own private room with a king sized bed. We love our privacy, plus having 2 bathrooms is a must as we would never get out in the morning with our 2 oldest daughters hogging the bathroom!!!! I would get 2 rooms if I were you, before buying DVC we did that a couple of times. I would not worry about another door or a balcony either, I think your kids are old enough not to do something foolish. You can request adjoining rooms. I know it is a lot of money travelling with a larger family, but we need to enjoy our vacations and need space to do it. Just call me spoiled. We have considered getting a camper but that just seems like too much togetherness to me. Do what you want, but your kids must be angels. Mine would be at each others throats after one night of those close quarters.

Just talking about practical issues: jmatias, consider your experience, then replace your 6 YO with a 15 YO and add a 4 YO in bed with you and DH. Is this really a workable situation?

Our family of 5 fits very well into a studio we just bring an air bed for our oldest to sleep on or I sleep on it and let her and my wife share the bed while the other 2 take the other one.

I agree with those that have said "maybe you should get to rooms at the Allstars." Even though you won't spend much time it your room, it can sure get cramped. I remember our first trip to WDW when I was in college. DH & I went with FIL and two neices ages 7 & 8 then. We all stayed in a Days Inn room in 2 double beds. To this day I can't believe how crazy we were to have 3 adults and 2 kids in such a room. Now I find myself feeling cramped in a 1br with DH, FIL and our 2 daughters, the youngest was under 3 the last time we went. Maybe you should consider Ft Wilderness. The cabins are great. You will get a full kithchen, not just the fridge and microwave. You and DH can sleep on the murphy bed and the kids can have the bedroom. Good luck!

The studio plus was previously a separate room type so it could be guaranteed, now it is not. DVC did stretch the occupancy to 5 if one was a child but didn't have to be under 3. Since there's no way to know if you will get that room type, that option has passed. One should book for a regular studio and request if they want that room type.

DrTomorrow,

If I had kids that age then my answer is "No....it isn't a workable situation"

Y'know, I can't help but think this thread is way too quiet and sedate without Rich jumping in. (sigh)
