Looking at my sons school holidays for next year, it looks likely that we will be going to Florida around the last wo weeks in October. We normally travel April/May and the weather is usually perfect.

What are your experiences for weather in October, and more importantly is it warm enough to swim ???

Thanks in advance
Marcus
:D

Hi Marcus

October is a wonderful time to go. The weather is still gorgeous and yes you can swim - We are going for our third time at this time of year. Bilizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon are a must.

Are you thinking of going to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party too?

Kaylee
Thanks for the reply. As I was not convinced about October 04 I hadnt looked at what events were on - What is the Halloween Party like.
As a point of interest it will also be our 1st DVC trip to the BCV
Regards
Marcus
:p

we went last year from 21 sept to 5 oct and it was hot

the only problem was rain on most days from 3pm ish

some days it wss a quick downpour but other days it lasted a couple of hours

apart from that though i would definitely go again during that period

you'll also be able to do the halloween horror night at universal which is a must

:D

MNSSHP is fab!!!! This will be my 3rd time attending :D Here is a thread about it on the trip planning board. Also at this time of year is the EPCOT food and Wine Festival There is some info here on it with some 2002 programmes.
This is great and as you are staying at BCV you can pop in and out of EPCOT as much as you want.

Hi
We went last year in the middle of October for 20 days and it only rained twice and most of the time it was 85+, hence why we're going again this October. Didn't do the Halloween thing but definately will this year.

Hi Marcus:wave:

Up until last year we'd visited mid-May to Mid-June in our previous trips. Went from 16 Oct to 1 Nov last year . . . and going back same time this year we loved it so much:D

We found the weather perhaps ever so slightly cooler than we were used to for the first few days (85 degrees instead of 90;) ), but then it hit the high 80s to low 90s and stayed that way, particularly when we went further down south.

We really did enjoy our trip in October and, like Kaylee says, MNSSHP is a must. It was the only time we visited MK so we spent 7pm - midnight there (there I was thinking we'd probably only stay an hour or two . . . we had to be kicked out of the park on closing at midnight:rolleyes: ;) ). The rides - with the exception of Haunted Mansion - were ALL walk on. The Headless Horseman parade was great and when we finished watching that we went straight on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and watched the fireworks while being chuntered around there - magic.

The crowds were smaller than we were used to in May, but perhaps because we stayed ovenight at HRH and got front of line access in both Universal parks made a HUGE difference.

Thanks for the replies - Because I cannot take a holiday at the start of each month (dont ask, its complicated) plus I dont like to take the boys out of school for more than a week (therefore combine school holidays with our trip) it means that October 04 is the only time the school holidays and my work commitments both combine.
Booked with Virgin 15th Oct 04 Fly drive 2 weeks. Hopefully no probs in booking BCV using the DVC 11 month window !!!!!! in November (must not forget!) This will be our first trip "home"
:smooth:

We go every year in October and the weather is superb, Actually last year I got severely burnt, and im dark skinned to start with.

I thought I could stand the rays last time, but unfortunately I was wrong, and learnt my lesson the hard way:(

I couldn't bare to have water or the thin bed sheet on me, very painfull indeed.

Regards Horsie

Eve,
We are taking them out during half term which is from 25th Oct '04 for one week.

We are travelling on Fri 15th Oct and returning Fri 29th Oct so we will be taking them out for one week and one day. It also means they get (and me for that matter) a day or so before retuning to school (and work for me!) to recover.

It all about a compromise, but looking at it and from the comments I have received on this thread, October looks a great month. Its slightly cheaper, uses up less DVC points and is something to look forward to after our so called summer.

By the way we live in West Malling which is a stones throw from your in laws !:p

hi lost boy

we will be just getting back on the 13th oct,so i will let you know how the weather and crowds will be,and imagine being so close to my inlaws:D :D :D

Hiya,

I went to Florida in October last year and it was AMAZING!!
We r so used to going in july/august that it was nice to experience a different tym of year.

Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party is a MUST. It is the best EVER!!!!! We went to it last year. There were disney ppl stood at every corner in fancy dress handing out candy to every1. It was the most amazing experience. Unfortunately, towards the end we had a terrential rainstorm which kind of spoiled the end of it. The night was still unbelievable though. U have to experience it to understand what it is like.

Have a good tym if u do go.
only 26 days till my nxt visit
