OCTOBER WAITLIST Support Group...

I won't give up hope, but I think my only hope right now is that someone cancels due to an emergency or airfare that just doesn't fit into their budget. Since I'm looking for a Wednesday (right smack in the middle of a week), I am not too optimistic that it is a start/end day that someone may just randomly drop.

You never know. I'm booked in a studio standard at BWV starting Wednesday Oct. 19th. The family wants to do a 4 night cruise. If we do move forward on the cruise (which is already booked), I'll have to drop my BWV studio standard for Wednesday and Thursday nights with my new checkin date of Friday Oct. 21th. I know my studio doesn't help you, but someone will be thrilled to get those days. I won't modify until the cruise is paid off early July and I'm 100% sure that the family will not cancel or backout. It's too hard to get those 2 days to give them up with any doubt that the cruise might not happen.....so see, that's just my scenario.

Actually, it is the 19th that I need....maybe if you drop your studio, someone who has a 1BR booked as a back up might get it which could open the 1BR for mepopcorn::. Who knows...the stars might alignpixiedust:.

Just wanted to mention to OP that I think the title of this thread is awesome! (I use disboards forums as a support group for many aspects of my Disney trip planning - but never realized that until I read this title.)

Joining the October waitlist support group! I have 9/30 booked at BLT but I still need 10/1, 2, and 3. Trying to decide when to give up and just book at SSR.

You didn't say what size unit you're looking for but I would be concerned that even the availability of rooms at SSR could book up - the weekends during Oct. F&W go fast at all of the resorts...some weekends for studios are even gone at SSR in October....

Not much movement here. I was a tiny bit excited last night when I saw availability at BLT for the exact day (Sunday Oct. 16) open for a 1 bedroom. I kept thinking, yes, maybe someone's waitlist will be filled and free up my day....no such luck this morning. You wouldn't think it would be this hard to get one night. I know I must be near the top of the list as I missed getting that night by just a few hours. Yes, I know it's hard to get into BCV and BWV during F&W at the 7 month window. This is why I booked my BWV standard studio at the 11 month window, but didn't have a clue we would add a 4 night cruise prior to the trip and my family wanted a 1 bedroom prior to the cruise. It's all good though as my daughter did book a back up reservation on her account in case the W/L doesn't come through. Hopefully if any one here gets their waitlist, they will report back and give us hope.

I just looked and the entire week is now full for a P/G 1BR at BWV.

I have my waitlist set up for 7 days on the chance that there is a cancellation at the 30-day mark, but I will have to let it go on September 30 so that I can bank my 7 remaining points. Those are the points I would need if the waistlist fills so every day, I check my dashboard and hope to see a big "0" under the 2016 available points column.

I check my dashboard probably 3 times a day. Keep hoping to see the waitlist disappear.

Only 3? Lol. I also keep checking just in case - but since they upgraded the wait list last summer, would snagging temporarily open availability (before its grabbed for the wait list) even be a possibility anymore? Not sure I've seen that comment recently.

Yes. They're better at it but not perfect. People still grab their waitlist all the time.

Thanks for reaffirming the conclusion that DVC is essentially useless for the fall.

Maybe eventually food and wine will not be such a "new" thing, huh?

Well, I wouldn't say is "useless"...Our stay for a week in a 1BR (194 points) cost us about $1552 (MF's around $6/pt + initial buy-in of $2/pt) which is a GREAT deal compared to booking a standard room at a moderate for the same time ($1660). We get better location, a larger room and more amenities:thumbsup2. Yes, I would prefer to stay at Epcot during F&W, but I love the AKV and I actually miss it every time we go to WDW and don't stay there. Sometimes, we get lucky and get a few nights in an Epcot-area resort...that's why there is a waitlist. My vacation will not be ruined if our waitlist does not come through:lovestruc.

I'm actually quite excited about our split stay. We are booked for 4 nights at BWV and then 3 nights at AKV. We are staying for the full week in a 1BR (which is unheard of for most of our vacations) instead of splitting 5 nights between a studio and a 1BR during spring break. I am really looking forward to staying at the newly-refurbished BWV and being able to walk to Epcot for F&W. On top of that, I get to finish off our trip at "home" in a newly-refurbished room at AKV. My one-night waitlist is to keep us at the BWV for 5 nights, since that is where the rest of the family is staying for the full week. If we get it, then someone else may get the 1BR value that we have booked at AKV for that one night.

Much simpler than that...if you can't book - it's useless.

And the crowds are artificially inflated, the "special events" make things uncomfortable.

It used to be fun...that's over.

Ok, I know I am probably fooling myself, but feeling somewhat hopeful that as dining reservations open for our time window this week, maybe some people may adjust their DVC housing plans as their dining plans are finalized? I know I often tweak the park visit plan as I see what I can get and the crowd level on certain days. I know that's less of a thing with F&W, but I'm hopeful for mid-week meal planning... here's hoping!! :bitelip:popcorn::

OK, I'm a little bit excited. I just checked my dashboard and my waitlist is gone, but the reservation is not updated yet. I've always found that once your waitlist disappears, they are working on it (or it's been "pulled"). So now I wait to see if it's coming or they accidently deleted my waitlist!

Oh, fingers crossed for you, that's got to be good!!!!

WELL!?!?!?!?!?!?! Did you get it?

It's not useless to us. We were able to book acceptable dates for our travel needs at the resort that we wanted. I wouldn't exactly call that useless. We waited until 5 1/2 months out to book. Could there have been more choices if we'd decided to go at 7 months? Sure. But we're OK with what we found available. Useless means it's of no value. That's not true for everyone. As far as it being a "new thing"...yes, it's always going to be a "new thing" for some. This is only our 2nd time going so I'd still call it "new". There's always going to be first timers.

No confirmation yet this morning. I can't get into my dashboard this morning (not working! no surprise there). Once before when my waitlist disappeared from my dashboard, it took 2 weeks until I knew. I actually had to call and ask. The CM said she didn't know why it was gone, then said, oh I see your room was pulled, but waiting for someone to process it....Since it's replacing another room, the points have to be switched over. This will free up a 1 bedroom BWV preferred view room for Oct. 16th.

I also got excited yesterday when I looked at my dashboard and 2 of our WL's were gone. However, the points were the same & no new resv's were added. I then went in to the WL section, and there were the WL's in there, but just not in my dashboard. Now this morning, I have no WL's on my dashboard, and only 2 of our upcoming resv's are listed. I'm unable to get in to anything in the "my vacation" sections. I think it's more than likely that IT is having an issue, rather than my WL's got filled.

What are your waitlist dates and resort? Hopefully they have been pulled, but the cast members don't have time to process them. I think the dvc magicbands were released today and read the sold out quickly, so it may be causing website issues. I remain positive that good things are in the works. Post back if you can.
