October is here!!! A Semi-live TR!!! Our Oct 7-14 trip to the world!

So of course...now that we have the extra day...but we will get kicked out of MK by 7pm...trying to think of somewhere to go for dinner on that day. My first choice was O'hana...but of course as of right now, there are no reservations to be had from 5-10pm on that day. I won't give up but...I don't have much hope since that is a popular one.

I'm debating...since we'll be at MK...it would be pretty easy to grab a bus to any of the other resorts for dinner...that we wouldn't have had time for previously. I'm probably too late to get any of the super popular choices...maybe I will try for an ADR...or just show up and eat at the QS at one of the resorts....but if anyone has any good suggestions on somewhere easy to get to from MK that I'd have any hope in hell of getting a table at this point for Oct 8....lemme know :))

1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian is great. Buffet style meal with Cinderella, Prince Charming, Lady Tremaine, Drizella, and Anastasia.

Well thanks for everyone's helpful suggestions!! I now have a list of great restaurants to try to get ADR's for....but on a different day lol...Seriously don't know what I would do without this here DIS and all the helpful suggestions I'm getting. Even though I'm sure there will always be things "I wish I had known" when we get there...I feel like I'm getting as informed as possible.

After we added the extra night...I got to thinking (dang, hate when that happens lol) Now our trip is from arrival - late on Wed October 7th to early departure on Wed October 14th.

We were originally supposed to arrive on the Thursday October 8th so I had booked the MNSSHP on Friday October 9th because I didn't want to do it on arrival day because we might be tired and also in case of any travel delays etc.. BUT....now that we have added the extra night to arrive on the night of the 7th...I started reading some more about MNSSHP and decided that perhaps doing that on the Thursday October 8th would be better. Less crowded for one, and also, the way our plans are working out - it will be better because the following day we won't have to get up super early. In our original plans I had us at MNSSHP followed by early EMH at DHS....which we might not have been too happy about that morning.

So..thanks to the lovely CM on the phone....they let me change my MNSSHP tickets date to the Thursday October 8th...yeehawww!! So this will work out much better. Now I'm thinking of doing a late-ish breakfast/brunch type thing either at the CP in MK or at 1900 Park Fare the day after our MNSSHP...I wonder how late you can do this before it's lunch food? I want breakfast food...but as late as you can get it...I will have to look into that.

But thanks to all your great dinner suggestions because I will also be looking at all of those for dinner on our MK day the day after MNSSHP because they will still be kicking us out early that day...so dinner outside the park that night would be good.

How does Eat to the Beat work? Is it just a stage and people can walk by? Can you get around it and avoid the crowds?
Avoiding crowds should be easy.

So you all know what that means...an extra FULL park day!!
:jumping1: Woot!! That is always a good thing! ::yes::

I had gone back and forth about what to do on our arrival day, which was going to be MK...but then I was stressing over if it would be worthwhile because they will be closing early for MNSSHP and so on...but now...we will have THAT WHOLE DAY at MK!!! yeeehaaawww!!
:cheer2:

but we will get kicked out of MK by 7pm...trying to think of somewhere to go for dinner on that day
Since you switched this may be a moot point but as you just read in my TR the 1900 Park Fare Dinner is wonderful!!

I believe around 10:30 is when they start switching things over. Just keep in mind that the charcters you saw at my dinner at 1900 park fare don't show up at the breakfast. The breakfast is different.

Glad you were able to change your MNSSHP dates easily.
You're so going to love it!

I think 1900 Park Fare does only breakfast and dinner. So no matter what time you book it for breakfast, there will always be breakfast foods. However, breakfast characters are Alice, the Mad Hatter, Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, and Mary Poppins. Not Cinderella and the gang.

Good to know!! While I'm sure DD would be happy to see the princesses, we'll get FP's for the ones she really likes in MK hopefully anyway...and also still holding out hope for a possible ADR at Akershus as well where there would be princesses.

Glad you were able to change your MNSSHP dates easily.

Me too...I was a little worried that they wouldn't let me do it...but I kinda begged and they didn't seem to mind!

Well that's good to know. I don't mind those characters...what about Eeyore though? I'd be happy to see Tigger and gang though...

Congrats on the extra day. :yay:

That's exactly how it was for me. I had done so much research here that really helped me plan our days. I don't think I could have been better prepared. But I still missed things. It just gives me more reason to go back soon. ::yes::

I've heard that they start switching over sooner than later. I would be conservative if you really want breakfast food since there might be delays before you get sat and get up to the buffet.

But thanks to all your great dinner suggestions because I will also be looking at all of those for dinner on our MK day the day after MNSSHP because they will still be kicking us out early that day...so dinner outside the park that night would be good.

I'll throw my vote in for The Wave. We ate there before MNSSHP when we went and it was really good. You can't beat the proximity to MK and it's easier to get ADRs because it's not as popular.

Thanks!! I'm super excited about having a whole other day. I'm going through our plans and trying to spread things out a bit for some more breathing room. I think (I hope) we will be pretty prepared planning wise...by the time October comes. One thing I have a hard time with is putting all my lists and ideas somewhere that I will remember to look for them when looking for a snack/tip/something to do...without being on my phone all the time. I will probably end up printing some stuff out.

I am slowly narrowing down our breakfast choices for our MK day. I think I may end up going with 1900 Park Fare...I kinda wanted CRT...but not hope of an ADR for that I don't think...so there is a 10:30am at 1900...and that sounds pretty good....so I am tempted to just go with that...or maybe I will put in a ****request for CRT lol

Thanks for the tip about the Wave. You're right..it's a bit off the beaten path in terms of popular ADR's but sure would be convenient!

I'm so glad they let you change your MNSSHP tickets!

As someone else said, 1900 Park Fare doesn't serve lunch, so any breakfast reservation there will be breakfast food. I think Crystal Palace might switch over at 11ish, but they probably start the switch earlier, so I'd say closer to 10 is better.

Thanks! Yes, I was relieved that they would switch those tickets. I got an ADR for 1900 Park Fare....but I'm still stalking an ADR for CP or CRT...I know...probably no chance i heck for CRT...right? But worth a try I suppose. I'm happy with 1900 Park Fare...but princesses would really make DD happy...and also, it would be nice, since it's a late breakfast anyway...to have it just be "in" the park, so that once we're done eating we are already there...it's easier transportation too. BUT...in a way...I know that the GF is nice and this will give us a chance to go there...and I kind of wanted to look in the shops there too so...we shall see what happens!

I'm slowly catching up.

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: for a full extra day. That is awesome. We enjoyed 1900 Park Fare, but far from our favorite (we were upset that Mary Poppins wasn't there that day...she was away sick (obviously she didn't have her spoonful of sugar to help the medicine go down ;) ).

We've never done the Wave, but I read nothing but stellar reviews of it.

Don't give up on Crystal Palace. One of our last trips, I was able to get an ADR one week before we arrived.

No worries! Take your time! I will be here :) Until October that is lol

I know!! I'm so excited!! I've been to 1900 Park Fare ages ago...but the CP is in the park and I think I would rather that for the day I'm thinking about...The Wave doesn't have characters though, right? And I've tried Chef Mickey's and was not impressed...although...that was dinner...breakfast might be ok..something to think about.

I think I've finally decided that I'd like to try to do a late breakfast at CP in the MK for our morning after the MNSSHP.....I tried the usual route for an ADR and of course no go...so I tried the infamous Disney ****&&& word for friend that starts with a "b". It immediately came back with 9:50am or 12:10pm. I don't want 12:10 because as I said I want breakfast food. 9:50 is a little earlier than I'd like. It says it goes until 10:45 so I was hoping for that or at least 10:30am...sigh. BUT all yesterday and last night it kept sending me notifications like every 5 minutes for those two times!! Finally I couldn't take it anymore...so for now I just took the 9:50am. But I'm going to keep trying to make it later...maybe I will even try calling on the actual phone..... I know that 9:50 is probably fine...but I was really hoping to have a leisurely morning after a late night at the party...and to get to a 9:50 ADR in the park...I'm sure we'd still have to leave POFQ by like 8:30 or so...which still means getting going relatively early....Anyway...I may cancel or change that ADR if I can't get something better...but at least I've got something on the books. I wanted to do at least ONE character meal on this trip and this seems to be the day it will work best...but I'm just really leary of "burning us out" on the first couple days of the trip.

Well 9:50 is still pretty good. It's only 40 minutes earlier than you wanted. That's not bad.
Could've been 8:50!

Can always count on you to be the optimist :)) You're right though...any ADR at Disney is a good one lol and it isn't THAT early. So I will probably live with it - I'm going to TRY to stop obsessing for a bit...but then try back in a week or so and see if anything has changed. I did think that they were adding more of a "brunch" time frame at the CP and maybe that's in a testing phase or something? Like I said...I may try the actual phone one day when I have time...but it will be manageable if it has to stay at 9:50am.

and to get to a 9:50 ADR in the park...I'm sure we'd still have to leave POFQ by like 8:30 or so
I'd say that would be pushing it. I always allow 2 hours for Disney transportation.

However, If you really want a morning adr and you want to get some rest, A Taxi from POR to the Contemporary is $12+ tip. It takes about 20 minutes or less. I would allow yourself 40 minutes just to be on the safe side. (20 minutes for the cab ride, 5 for waiting on a cab, 15 to get through security and to CP itself. )
