October is here!!! A Semi-live TR!!! Our Oct 7-14 trip to the world!

How cool if you get to partake of eat to the beat, even if its just within ear shot. We've never been able to go, but its on my bucket list. And Rick Springfield to boot. Though as a child of the 80's he'll forever be Dr. Noah Drake to me

I know!!! Dr Noah Drake...awesome. And I heard he's gonna be in a movie?? Should be fun. Like I said I was a bit concerned about how it would affect crowds at first but I'm getting excited now that people say it doesn't really. I love the idea of chowing down to some of his old tunes. Of course...DD won't have a clue lol

Hi Kathy! I love how your plans are unfolding, the great questions that you ask, and that you are planning a mother daughter trip!
I'm very tempted to book a moderate for my next trip with DH, to see if it is worth the price. POFQ really appeals to me, but so does CBR, which so far has been better pricing. But we can't book yet, so I will keep mulling it over for our trip.
That might be an option I will consider depending on how our park days play out. I have a feeling that DH will be done with crowds long before I am.
Totally the best decision that I made as well - why waste family money on those who will truly not enjoy the experience? This will be my 4th trip to DW, and the first that DH is considering, and even then I'm going for more days than he is.
Absolutely!
Isn't it great? No one here rolls their eyes as you type!
I'm sure that my first 2 trips with DD were not planned with crowd calendar assistance, and we had a fabulous time. Crowds generally don't bother us, as people watching is fun, and we can always chat about something fun in line ups!
I've never made RD myself yet. Maybe this trip...
I actually used my iPod most of the time in the parks, or my phone on airplane mode, and it worked pretty well 98% of the time, even iMessage with DD.

Hey thanks for following along!! I'm so excited...but just sad that it is so far away lol. The POFQ appeals to me most of the moderates...and it was available when we wanted to go, so there's that lol.

Regarding park hoppers...the more research I do around here...the more I'm starting to "get" why poeple do it. At first it seemed ridiculous to me - as in "isn't one park a day enough? Why would you want to do more?" But then when you factor in FP+ and crowd predictors and ADR's....now it's starting to dawn on me that it sometimes makes sense to start in one park and move to another. BUT ...I'm still I think probably going to hold out on this trip and NOT get them and see how it goes. I think next time if we get to do a longer trip I may try it...but for now...sticking to the plan lol.

I do love that I can talk Disney to my heart's content and obsess over the littlest details and no one minds lol and people are so helpful. I do like to RD now that I get to decide when lol.

I have some exciting news!!!

After much debate in regards to what to do on our first day at WDW since it will probably be late afternoon by the time we got to our resort...I decided to ADD a night!!! I don't know why when I was originally making plans...it didn't dawn on me that we could actually leave one night earlier and get an evening flight, without DD having to miss another day of school! Thankfully, DH had booked our flights on points and was able to change them!!! YAYYY!! So you all know what that means...an extra FULL park day!!

I had gone back and forth about what to do on our arrival day, which was going to be MK...but then I was stressing over if it would be worthwhile because they will be closing early for MNSSHP and so on...but now...we will have THAT WHOLE DAY at MK!!! yeeehaaawww!!

So now back to the planning lol. I have to figure out what (if anything) I will change about that day's plan. At first I thought of maybe changing our MNSSHP tickets for that day...but I'm thinking I will leave those on the 2nd full day...because I think that on the morning after a late arrival, we may be a bit tired. I'm thinking of just planning a relaxing morning...check out the hotel....and maybe nearby POR and the pool and maybe even DTD...and then plan some FP+ for the afternoon....and then maybe "if" I'm lucky...I can get an ADR for the coveted O'hana...so that is next on the list to try for!!!

I will be back with a more detailed plan for that day when I figure it out...but had to share...because you guys would know how exciting it is to get a bonus day!!

Yay! And no school cops will come busting down your door!

an extra FULL park day!!

Woot!

I'm thinking of just planning a relaxing morning...

:lmao: Oh, Kathy. You're so funny.

"Relaxing morning"

:rotfl:

Awesome! I love it when those bright ideas work out!

I know!! It's so exciting that now I get to plan another day lol

Yeah surprisingly the school cops aren't too bad around these parts lol...I think they are used to us heathens taking our kids outta school lol...but really because of Thanksgiving she will only miss 3 days...I don't think that's a big deal lol

I know...I realized as soon as I typed it that I'd get some flak for suggesting a "relaxing" day at Disney lol...but I just mean that we may not necessarily make RD the next morning after a late arrival. If we feel up to it, sure...but I'm going to try to resist the temptation to go commando (style touring that is for anyone thinking another commando lol)

Well that might be fun too.

If you do need them, you can always add them while there!
So you all know what that means...an extra FULL park day!!
Yay! So exciting! :cool1:

So of course...now that we have the extra day...but we will get kicked out of MK by 7pm...trying to think of somewhere to go for dinner on that day. My first choice was O'hana...but of course as of right now, there are no reservations to be had from 5-10pm on that day. I won't give up but...I don't have much hope since that is a popular one.

I'm debating...since we'll be at MK...it would be pretty easy to grab a bus to any of the other resorts for dinner...that we wouldn't have had time for previously. I'm probably too late to get any of the super popular choices...maybe I will try for an ADR...or just show up and eat at the QS at one of the resorts....but if anyone has any good suggestions on somewhere easy to get to from MK that I'd have any hope in hell of getting a table at this point for Oct 8....lemme know :))

You could try Boma for an ADR, they'll probably have something open. But getting back to your resort may be a pain, and you'd have to leave ample time to get from MK to AKL.

Yay for an extra day! I think it's a good idea to not plan for rope drop, but to know what you'd do at RD in case you do wake up early and feel up to it.

The people of the world thank you for this - although, unless you're wearing a skirt or super-low pants, nobody would really know...

We're not big ADR people, so I can't really help with the ADRs, but you can try searching all restaurants by time & see what's available, and then see what might interest you.

I would LOVE to go to Boma...even if only for the zebra domes lol...but you're right...it might take forever to get back to POFQ after...something to think about though for sure.

Yes that's a good plan...I think we'd probably hit our usual favourites first thing if we make it...but I know there will be a chance for those later with FP+ anyway...so it will be a nice low stress start to the trip.

Ha!! Yeah not likely to be wearing either of those things lol...but still...that type of commando ain't really my style lol!!

See I knew the good DIS people could help me out here...it didn't even cross my mind to search that way...didn't even know you could!! I guess I could narrow it down by restaurants at resorts and not in parks...since we won't have a park hopper...and then see what it comes up with...great idea!!

1900 Park Fare is nearby. Your DD would like the characters and there's an available table at 6:25.
I just don't recall if you've already got an ADR there or not. (too many TRs/PTRs going!)
Artist Point has lots of available tables and Whispering Canyon has a 6:25. Both fairly close at Wilderness Lodge.
And there's a 6:30 table available at The Wave buffet a short hop over at the Contemporary.

However, you could might a night out of it, because there are a bunch of places to see the animals. Also, if you're up for it, there are always cabs sitting outside AKL, at least one, if not two. So instead of it taking forever to get back to POFQ, if you didn't mind paying you could take a cab.

I would try to go to the Wave or Whispering Canyon Café for your group as then you could easily get back to Magic Kingdom and take the bus back to POFQ.

All great ideas and no, we don't have ADR's at any of those!! Does Whispering Canyon have characters or just server antics? I thought about that idea...or Artist Point as well...

True - not a bad idea either! The other option to get back to POFQ I guess would be bus to DTD then boat...so there are options...certainly worth considering. I guess I better book something quick if we want to have any hope of getting something good!

Thanks!! Great ideas too!!!

Congrats on an extra day!!! So exciting!

I think dinner after MK at another resort is a great idea can you just take a cab back to the hote after? Or bus to DTD and then boat or bus back to POFQ?

Yup, that's what I'm thinking. But now it's so hard to decide...so many great choices!!!
