hello,

Can anyone tell me how the crowds usually are in October. We are traveling with a 3 & 4 year old and would like to visit during the least crowded times. Also, when are the savings codes released for Sept - Nov.

thanks:)

October is kind of a funny month to predict. For one thing, it depends on when the golf tournament comes to town. Usually the week leading up to the weekend of the tournament is fairly crowded, especially in and around MK. The last couple of years I believe the tournament has been on the last weekend of the month.

You also have MNSSHP to bring in the crowds as well, although I think that has more of an effect the later you get in October.

Anyone else with any thoughts???

Brian

I have gone the last week in October, during the golf tournament. It did seem kind of crowded for that time of year, however we never had to wait more than 15 minutes for any of the rides:) I think it just kind of depends on the year. I have seen it way more crowded in February, so go figure. I think you should go in Oct or Nov, the weather is beautiful, and like I said, never really waited for any of the rides:cool:

I think it all depends on what is going on in the "world". We went one October and it wasn't to bad at the start of the vacation but by the end it was pretty crowded. The golf tournament plus the start of the Food and Wine Festival.

It is getting really hard to predict. We went January of 2001 hardly anyone around. We walked right on rides it felt like we had each park to our selfs. Now this year we went same week same MLK holiday and it was I believe worse than when we went the week before Easter last year.

I think if you have an open mind that there will be crowds you might be surprised when there is not. But don't go thinking that there won't be crowds because all I could do this last January is walk around saying "what happened last time we were here there was noone."

How do I find out when the golf tournament is this year??

I will be there Oct.20-31st and hopefully will avoid it:confused:

Thanks!
;) :D ,

I just made my reservations today for the Polynesian for October 23-29! :bounce: We LOVE Disney World in October!

By the way, the FUNAI Golf Classic is October 18-24 this year.

About 5 years ago we went in October, thinking it would be a slow time. But we hit it during the Golf tourny week. The crowds were not overwhelming, just more than we thought.

I went to Disney in Oct. and I didn't find it to be too crowded. The weather was perfect. It wasn't too hot, actually I found the days to be comfortable for walking around. I think it is a nice time of year to go.

 Our family also travelled in October. The weather was beautiful!! The parks didn't seem too crowded at times. Although, when we went to the parks on the Early Entry days, the crowds were WAY higher. We had our whole trip planned around Early Entry Days, but the crowds seemed overwhelming. I guess what we should of done is go to EE in the morning and then switch to a different park for the evening:wave:

We went at the end of October in 2002, and found the weather to be wonderful. It was not crowded at all, which was good because DH can get quite Grumpy standing in line with DSs(4&6) for very long. I think the longest we stood in line was 15 minutes for BuzzLightyear, and we didn't use FastPass for anything, because we didn't need to. I have no idea if there was a golf tourney there at the time, this is the first I have heard of it. I am planning to visit October 21-25. Is it really that crowded because of the tournament? Would I be better off scheduling the first week in November (around election day?) I try to go around at least one day off from school-October 25 is a teacher workday, and the kids are also out for election day-Nov 2 or 3? Any suggestions? Thanks for the info!! I love this forum, I am totally addicted!

I believe the tournament in '02 was earlier in October. It used to be around the first or second weekend in October, but last year they moved it to the fourth weekend of October, and it looks as though this is when it is going to be again this year.

I think they moved it, so that it would tie in nicely with the F&W festival at Epcot.

The first week of November is Jersey week, so the crowds may also be affected. But I've never actually been during Jersey week, so I'm not sure how bad it is.

If you go in Oct. at least you can go to MNSSHP!!

I actually avoid the EE parks because I am guessing that they attract more guests, at least in the morning. I have no idea if that strategy works or not! Anyone out there know if that works?

During our visit in October 2003 we experienced moderate crowds everywhere we went. We missed the golf tournament, but hit the Food and Wine Fest. and MNSSHP.
We also discovered it was a school hoilday for kids in much of the US and UK.
Btw, our trip was from 10/24-11/2.

I didn't have any trouble during Jersey Week last year. Didn't wait long at all for the rides.

MamaKate,

You can go to PGATOUR.COM and look at the schedule for the tournament. It is Oct 18 - 24. Hope this helps.

October is a crazy time. It may be virtually empty or jame packed. But usually its a great time to go! have fun::MickeyMo
