:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: We can make ressies July 24th it wasn't too late for me to do the math!!!

Eeek! That's a Monday -- maybe I can get up extra early (I get up at 5:15 and am usually at work by 6) and make a reservation then......anyone know what time I can start? I've got two hours between east cost time and Colorado.

Also, I heard from the Jolly Roger people -- they suggested I book through my cruise line, but I cannot find their information on the DCL site. i've emailed them back to see if I can still do it -- anyone else want to join us on Grand Cayman for the Jolly Roger Pirate cruise? It looks like a hoot -- if we get enough people interested, perhaps they'll arrange one for us special!

Let me know if you're interested and I'll see what I can work out with them!

You guys on Mountain Time?? I guess so, huh....When we were there last year, didn't pay any attention to my watch! :rotfl2: You can start making ressies at 3:00 am Eastern time. So I had to stay up till 2 am....but that was Sunday morning for me. Since it's a weeknight, I wouldn't think you would have to any trouble that early.

Chris, We can reserve at 1:00 a.m. MST on the 24th. Did you get my email about getting together? My boys and I will be up in Denver tomorrow morning, July 13 at the Museum to see body worlds 2. I'm sure that's probably too short of notice to get together. Let me know when would be a good time for you.

Which night is best for Palo for first time cruisers?

On a 7 night cruise, you will be in all the restaurants 2 times and 1 will be 3 times. So there is really not a bad night. Some do Palo on formal or semi formal night to "kill 2 birds w/1 stone".....you are already "dressed up", so go to Palo. Others like to dress up so it's just another excuse to do so. The one night I wouldn't want to is Pirate Night. They have some GOOOOD turkey legs on the pirate buffet. You would be so full of Palo, no room for turkey leg! :rotfl2:

You can make ressies for Palo tea, brunch, and dinner at the same time. Go for it!

:happytv: No tv for us, satellite has been out since a rainstorm yesterday...repairman will come Monday afternoon....

Hope I can see the shuttle land tomorrow on the computer! popcorn::

Hey Stacy!! :wave2: I read where you guys rebooked for Sept. 22(?) '07?? Is that right?? Sorry you can't go with us. :sad2: Seems like I read a thread that someone said there was Dos XX at a particular watering hole, but not at all of them. If we can't find out, we will definitely look for you. I'll look for the thread. Stop in and see us again!

Thanks for looking for me, I have done a couple of searches on the Dis, but I am clearly not putting the words into the search engine.

Hi everyone!

I've been peeking in on the thread for a while now and I must say...you guys really amaze me....
It's probably because I'm Dutch, and not American...But I really think you are all overreacting a bit. This will be my third Disney cruise and I have never made any early reservations, except for the stingray snorkel tour. I don't see what's so special about Palo's anyway...It's just a "nice italian restaurant". Nothing posh...not to our standards anyway ( no offence meant)
US restaurants tend to be a lot more hectic than Dutch ones, so maybe that's where the difference is. So my advice to first time cruisers is....don't panic! You're on holiday,...the crew will take care of you! Just be friendly, and ask nicely. Don't freak out if something doesn't work out exactly the way you planned. YOU'RE ON HOLIDAY! My experience is that the worst thing that will happen on a trip to the US is getting through the airport...really...we're not all terrorist out here so please stop treating us like that. It has kept me away for the last two years, but I am willing to give it another try..Be kind

Have you been through Gatwick in London? They make U.S. Airport security look like amateurs. A U.S. Airport will scan your carryon -- Gatwick unpacked it when we returned to the U.S. five years ago from a vacation there. Granted, it was a little over a month after 9/11, but other passengers said that the Brits have been doing airport security that way for years becuase of the Irish terrorists.

So take my advice -- don't wear shoes that you can't easily slip off (thanks to Richard Reed, or whoever the idiot was that tried to bomb the plane with explosives in his shoes), and be prepared to have the time to wait. Frankly, I wish everyone was scanned as thoroughly as I am. (You'd think an average height, clearly middle-aged, mostly blonde and blue-eyed extra fluffy gal wouldn't look like a terrorist -- but I'm usually the one that gets pulled aside to be scanned with the wand......) Bring a book and you'll be fine, and when you land safely -- be happy that no psychotic terrorist was on your plane!

As far as the reservations -- when we are spending as much money as we are for this trip -- we want everything to be perfect, including restaurants. I'm not desiring to eat dinner at Palo, but I would like to have tea there, so I'll be making my reservations this coming Monday morning....

We are definitely dressing up! I love to dress up in costume, so am making new stuff for myself, "Pirates of the Caribbean" type costume for Glenn (aka Black Billy) and even for 9-year-old David (aka Crocodile Dave). It'll be a blast!

:welcome: Ankh01! Good to have you with us. I had been hoping this thread would have some international flavor to it. Please don’t feel like it is “us” treating visitors like terrorist, because “we” get treated the same way in our own airports….Some European countries, specifically England from my experience, have been doing the same thing since the 80’s. We went through Gatwick in ’94 and I was astonished to see “security forces” carrying large caliber automatic weapons then. We were also given the 3rd degree in immigration when arriving and then again leaving to come home. We have only seen that here since 9-11. I try to look at it as ‘it’s just the world we live in now’. The only thing we are guilty of terrorizing is The DISboards! :disrocks: So lets leave the “T” word alone and get to making a fuss over Palo ressies.
It is our 3rd Disney cruise and some of the folks here are on their 4th, 5th, or 6th. :boat: We don’t fuss over the reservations, it’s a game more than anything else. Our 1st cruise we couldn’t make online ressies. We had to wait until we got on the ship. No problem. They hold back a vast majority of the reservations for people who can’t make reservations online anyway. Palo is a nice Italian restaurant. REAL nice compared to some of what we have around here, so it is sort of a big deal to most of our standards…(no offense taken). We are all friendly :wave2: and grateful we have the means and opportunity to be able to take vacations of this caliber. We can’t wait to be on the pampered end of the Disney service again. Maybe some of our Southern Hospitality is what you need to forget the bad times you have had in our airports. Sometimes we have to take the bad to get to the good. Hopefully, the good will outweigh the bad this trip. Welcome back to America, and welcome to the South! Relax, you’re on vacation!! :thumbsup2
We have a "list" going for this cruise. This is totally optional. None of us will think any less of anyone who chooses not to participate in the list. Every time someone joins in or there are any corrections made to the list, I will e-mail everyone on the list a new list. The list contains some or all of the following information:

-DIS-name
-E-mail address
-First names, ages if desired, and Occupation of adults
-Pirate Name (if you like...see link in signature)
-First names and ages of children (so the children will know if there are others their age)
-Dining session
-Stateroom #
-Hometown
-Where you are staying night B4 cruise
-Special occasion to be celebrated during cruise (if any)

If there is any info you don't know yet, you can leave it off, and add it later.
If you would like to be included on the list, pm me or e-mail using the link in my signature and I will add you to the list! I send the list attached as a Word document and I scan it for viruses every time. If you want to participate and require a different format, let me know and I will try to accommodate you.
Again, welcome aboard, and we look forward to meeting you.
Allen aka BigRed1
