October 7, 2006 Western "Latitude Adjustment Cruise"

I can't believe we are so very close. My niece and nephew are going crazy. They are keeping up with exactly how many days we have left until we leave.

Chrisnglenn - your dress sounds fanastic and you'll be fine wearing it. You'll see how types of dress on formal and semi-formal night. We like dressing up so dh is doing the tux and I'm actually reusing a bridesmaids dress. Yes I actually have a black and white bridesmaid dress that can be reworn!!! Oh and my sister's dress hits at her ankles too so you will not be alone.

Me too! 38 days 'till we cruise and 35 days 'till we head for the Cape!! :woohoo: :Pinkbounc

Has anyone else looked into prices for the turtle farm in Grand Cayman? Someone emailed me in response to my request, and it's ridiculously overpriced. $25 for kids, $60 for adults! I've emailed her back to see if there's a lower price *just to see the turtles and not take advantage of all the other activities offered. If not, we'll be skipping that.

Thank you so much! My husband will be relieved not to be the only one dressed up so much. I can't say the same for my son, who's 9. I'm sure his expression will be more like we are leading him to the guillotine!

I finished his pirate costume last night, so we're all set for pirate night. At work today, they had a band and picnic out in the area between two buildings (I work for a health insurance company headquartered here in Denver), and the theme was "pirates"! They had some great table decorations including bandannas with skull and crossbones on them. I asked the folks in charge if I could buy a couple of them......

We're getting pretty excited -- this next month is going to fly by, since we leave for WDW on September 30th!

chrisnglenn - my nephew who will be 10 in december is feeling the same way but my sister told him he had no choice but to wear a tux. I'm sure within 2 minutes after dinner it will be off.

Does anyone know if my parents and sister can check-in with me and dh in the castaway club line? Can we all go up to one person to check-in? We have our reservations all linked together.

I have never posted to anything before, so I am not sure how this works. My question is can you bring beer on board and how does it work to bring liquor. Never been on a Disney cruise.

Oh Oh...

Still no other europeans :guilty: .... We'll be lonely...or maybe not ;)

Just one more month of work before the fun begins.
Bring it on!

We've never been on a Disney cruise (or any other cruise for that matter), but according to the Passporter Guide to the Disney Cruise Line, you can bring your own alcohol on board. However, the book cautions that you will not be allowed to take opened bottles off (only applicable int he case of hard liquor, I'm sure). You also cannot bring on a cooler, but there is a "mini fridge" in each stateroom. I also understand from a friend that has been on the Disney cruises and from the book that if you bring your own wine to dinner, there is a ghastly "uncorking fee" of almost $20!

Will you let it count if our grandparents were from Denmark? ;)

We won't let you be lonely -- we promise!

My first post too. The best way to get beer on board is to buy one of the softsided rolling coolers. Most will hold 24 cans just do not put ice in it until you get on board.

Ok, I'm better now.. :badpc: ..I had a nice long post ready a couple of hours ago, and just as I got ready to submit it, POOF, it was gone... :furious: So I had to go away for a while. Here goes again.
:welcome: lbrening! I had said that you could bring beer, wine & etc, onboard in a soft side cooler, just DON'T put ice in it. The X-ray machines will melt the ice and make a BIG mess. But lostnwdw beat me to it so, :welcome: lostnwdw! Where in Tennessee are you??
We have a "list" going for this cruise. This is totally optional. None of us will think any less of anyone who chooses not to participate in the list. Every time someone joins in or there are any corrections made to the list, I will e-mail everyone on the list a new list. The list contains some or all of the following information:

-DIS-name
-E-mail address
-First names, ages if desired, and Occupation of adults
-Pirate Name (if you like...see link in signature)
-First names and ages of children (so the children will know if there are others their age)
-Dining session
-Stateroom #
-Hometown
-Where you are staying night B4 cruise
-Special occasion to be celebrated during cruise (if any)

If there is any info you don't know yet, you can leave it off, and add it later.
If you would like to be included on the list, pm me or e-mail using the link in my signature and I will add you to the list! I send the list attached as a Word document and I scan it for viruses every time. If you want to participate and require a different format, let me know and I will try to accommodate you.

Side Bar: As I was writing this time, I tried to open the Cruzlist, and it was corrupted and couldn't be recovered. :badpc: :badpc: Luckily, my DW had downloaded it on another computer. This hasn't been a good computer day..I think I'm going to bed now..

We also have some dis green wristbands...I have ggbacha's, eyeronic's and mousemo's ready to mail. After those, I have 9 adults left. I haven't heard from tross, theoldstrain, or SuzPasq. lbrening, you are welcome to them as well. FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED. This is also your LAST CHANCE if you want them mailed. After this weekend, I will have them at the pool party at the Radisson and at the port, if there are any left. I read on another thread that the Magic is docking in Cozumel again. No tendering there maybe. Come on October!!!

No liquids of any kind will be allowed on the plane. Very stricked on this, we just got back from WDW and they took shampoos etc. from passengers. Would never take the chance to pack booze in luggage, especially since we don't drink. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Last cruise we got a soft sided rolling cooler from disneydirect.com. It was like $20 and was perfect. When we arrived friday night into cocoa beach we went to the publix and a liquor store. We got 2 bottles of wine, bottled water, and some crown. We packed it in the rolling cooler and was good to go. The security just asked us if it had ice in it and we said no then went on with our day. Just remember no ice and that you'll have it with you until the rooms open up.

Also we asked our room hostess to keep ice in it all week. That worked a lot better then the mini cooler thing in the room. If you use a soft sided cooler take trash bags with you for the host/hostess to line the cooler. The ice will make the sides of the cooler wet if there is no trash bags in it.

Thanks for the WELCOME! And thanks for the great info. My DH (does that mean disney husband) I told you I am NEW at this, we are travelling alone. No kids, (is that DD) and what does that mean? So will we have a good time on a cruise that is for kids? Can someone tell me what are some great things to do on the cruise (besides the obvious)?
My Pirate name is Red Bess Vane. :surfweb:

Carnival Cruise 1997
Magic Kingdom 2000
All-Star Sports 2003 All Worlds
All-Star Pop Century 2004 Blizzard Beach
Carnival Cruise 2005
All-Star Music 2005 All Worlds
Disney Cruise Oct 7 2006

I always thought the d meant Dear but on these boards, Disney is quite appropriate.

So it is getting close now.

Anyone else get shut out of Palo? Hope we can get ressies on board. At least I got a good massage time and Flounders times.

Can't wait.

Hi,
This wil be my third disney cruise without kids. And for us people that chose to be without them..... Disney does a great job keeping the kids way from us. You hardly see any ( not that I'm allergic :rotfl: )
Thre are lots of things to do, just relax and swim at the over-16-s pool, enjoy the shows, the movies, the night entertainment. And eh...If you're up to it...play a game of "settlers of catan" with me?
I'm a boardgame lover meself and I'll bring some good ones along. Yes, :teeth: we'll be the couple in the lounge playing the games!

Bye,
Kyra.

I was able to get reservations online for the first night on the cruise. I got these just a couple of weeks ago. But now it won't let me try and get brunch reservations. What is the best dinner rotation? I think we have LAP. Does that put us at Parrot for the formal night?

lbrening - DH (d standing for dear usually) and I went on our first disney cruise last sept. We have no kids unless you count the furry four legged kind which they don't allow on board. We had an awesome time. There are quite a few 18 and over places on the ship. The adult pool was really nice as well as the Cove Cafe. They have some awesome coffee and noncoffee drinks here. Cove Cafe also has cookies and cheese-n-crackers during the day. Also we went on sunday of our cruise and found some of the same desserts we had earlier at the palo brunch. Yummy!

Word of advice don't try to worry to much about the rotation you have. It will be a surprise until you check in. I worried about it last time and planned so much around what I thought we might get etc. We got on board to find out our rotation was completely different then I had planned for. Everything was still great and we had a perfect time.

It's just Bill, decided to finally log in after years of lerking. And to get 500th post. :rotfl2: pirate:
