I'm pretty new to actually posting on the boards (despite the fact that my profile says 2004) and just booked this cruise for next year, after having a great time with some girl friends during Mousefest on the Wonder on Dec. 4-8 (or 3-7?) This time we'll be bringing my girls, DD-9 and DD-8 (ages they'll be next October), and of course DH. We got an obstructed porthole cabin, which I'm quite excited about. Of course, what I'd really like is to switch to the Magic cruise leaving Oct. 6, but have to see how things go financially for the next few months. Can't wait!

Anyone out there? I guess not... now I know why we were able to get an obstructed porthole cabin relatively late in the game!

Hi, :wave2:

We booked this cruise on the ship during our honeymoon in october of this year.

Wonder why there are so few on this cruise from here it seems? :confused3

We've been to Disney several times over this long weekend (not only is the Columbus Day weekend helpful, Oct. 11 is DH's birthday) and I always thought it was a great time for a visit. Florida is still nice and hot, but not as overrun with people as in the late summer. I know that hurricanes are obviously a risk, but I guess it's one I'm willing to take. And although I had a great time on a Disney cruise this past December, it was a bit chilly (especially at Castaway Cay).

Another bonus -- Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom. We might try and head there on Oct. 11 after disembarkation.

Anyway, hi SparKelly! It will be interesting to see if anyone else signs up -- maybe people don't plan 4 night cruises as far in advance as the 7-nights? Who knows!

This will be our fourth trip to Disney in first part of October. We love the weather this time of year too. And of course Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween party is a must for us. We haven't done much planning yet as to if we'll go to Disney first or after the cruise though. And as far as hurricanes we'll have trip insurance :)

I'm sure more people will join us the closer it gets to cruisin' time!

We were able to book the exact same cabin that we had on our honeymoon (october 15-19 '06) so we're so excited to return to "our" room.

I'm a transfer from the October 6th Magic thread. My family (DH, me, DD9, DS6) decided for our first cruise, we'd rather do a land/sea package. We absolutely LOVE WDW!! I was really kinda' sad that we'd be cruising & not have time for a visit. The kids are on Fall Break October 5-14. We're hoping to add a 4th day at WDW before cruising on that Sunday. We're staying at the Poly for our land portion. I've always wanted to stay there, but we couldn't. But, this trip will be a belated 15th anniversary trip (actual anniversary is June 20th), so DH said we could stay at the Poly. YEA! And we'll be in stateroom 6060 on the cruise.

Now that the new year is here, I find myself back on the DISboards daily, anticipating our upcoming trip. I love to plan and can't wait to try this new Disney experience.

I look forward to getting to know those posting here. Maybe more will be joining us soon!

Christy

I'm so glad you found us!

I am so excited about our trip, I can barely stand it. And I think our kids (at least some of them) will match up -- at the time of the cruise, my girls will be 8 and 9 years old!

We are staying near the port the night before the cruise leaves (I haven't decided exactly where yet). Just tonight, we decided on Port Orleans Riverside for our three nights after the cruise. My all time favorite place to stay at WDW is the Wilderness Lodge, but that wasn't in the cards for this trip. I have always wanted to stay at the Poly, though -- never have -- and I am very jealous!

Now the best part of the whole schedule is that Thursday night will be MNSSHP. We all went this past October, and it was one of the best Disney experiences I have ever had.

It will also be DH's 40th birthday that Thursday, so the whole thing is pretty magical.

This will be my kids' first cruise. I went on the Wonder in early December with some girlfriends and had an amazing time, and I immediately booked a family trip when I got back. But like I think we talked about on a different post, I wasn't sure if a 7-night was the right first cruise experience. And I didn't want to pass completely on WDW!

I look forward to lots more chatting (but have to go now, have gotten way less sleep than I should have lately and I have to be at work early tomorrow). Good to meet you!

:wave2: Hello!

DH and I also considered the 7 day cruise but decided on the 4 day partly because of work and then also because if we did 7 days we definitely couldn't fit in time for the parks!

Poly is one of the resorts that I'm dying to stay at! But since we'll only probably go to the parks for a day or two this time we'll most likely be staying at Pop again.

You'll be just down the hall and across the lobby from us on the cruise we are in 6592.

I was this close to booking at POP, but then my dear DH said we could spring for the next level up, and I've never stayed at POR before, so I thought we'd give it a try. He understands and enables my Disney addiction...

We're in 5020 -- foward and down one deck from both of you. It's the same floor as the kids' clubs, so I'm thinking I might let my kids sign themselves out if they stay together and go directly to the cabin. On the other hand, it would still be a little scary...

Do either of you have any thoughts on good places to stay near the port the night before the cruise?

OK, I just saw the post about a 13-year old being sexually assaulted on the Wonder recently. I take it back about letting my kids check themselves out of the clubs.

Just bumping to see if anyone else is out there -- maybe we need 2007 in the title of the thread? Anyone know how to change the title?

:thumbsup2 Yeah I think 2007 would be good to add. You can edit the title by clicking edit on your original post, the click on go advanced...from there you can change the title and then save the new changes.

Thanks - looks like it works. I just booked Country Inn and Suites for the night before the cruise, so all our major reservations are taken care of. Car rental is left, but I'm not particularly anxious about that. I can't wait!

We haven't got a thing planned beyond the cruise date lol. I keep trying to get DH to talk about it with me but so far he isn't into it too much yet. We have a mini vacation starting tomorrow to one of the indoor waterpark hotels in this area so maybe after that he'll start looking forward to the cruise more and we can make some plans.

I'm getting more and more excited about it so he needs to catch up with me!

Whenever the Halloween party dates come out we will be able to make our firm plans though...but I don't think that will be for a few months.:hourglass

Hi, we also booked this cruise. I started a thread a while back but received no responses, guess it was too early to start. Anyway we have 9 people with us. Me, DH, DS 11, DD7, brother, his wife, DD9, DD8 and my Mom. This is our first cruise with Disney and we are so excited. We have been to the parks several times and were looking for something different. We have heard nothing but good things. Well I just wanted to write a quick note to say hello and hopefully we will be talking more. How do you get the ticker on your post? I want one it is so cool!!! Thanks Kim

Hi, Kim! Glad to meet you! Sounds like there will be a bunch of kids around the same age -- my DD-8 and DD-9 will be with us, and I think another family in this thread has kids that age as well. My kids have never cruised before, but I was on the Wonder in December and I know they are going to love it. I've been spending way too much time on the DIS boards these days, so feel free to ask any questions.

We're in Massachusetts -- where do you guys live? And what's your cabin number on the cruise?

--And you can get a ticker at tickerfactory.com

Talk to you soon :)

Sandy

Sandy, We live in New Jersey and my brother who will be crusing with us, he lives in Virgina and my Mom lives in Florida. We were lucky to have booked early enough to get adjoining rooms. We are staying in 8568, 8570. We are doing the land/sea package and will be staying at the Beach Club prior to the crusie and after the crusie we will be spending some time in Daytona where my Mom lives. I am sure I will have questions as it gets closer so hopefully we will still be in touch. These boards are great. The info and just the fact that you can meet people on your cruise before you leave is fantastic.

I figured out the ticker thing but can't seem to get it on the post.....help!!!
Don't laugh I need all the help I can get!!!

Thanks Kim
