Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Local pizza place I used to go there Friday night and get pizza the people that owned it eventually sold it some 30 years later it just doesn’t taste the same

There’s a the town by me that does a little quaint back in the day Rivertown thing but they have some really nice shops I like to go shopping there and get some items there’s a really nice spice shop nice sandwich shop used to be a really great restaurant but that got sold to somebody else and again the food is not as good as it used to be
In the countless repair shops/ donut shops and all the little businesses in town through the years
My best memory is the convenient store that was right by our house that we used to go to every day during summer and get candy and a soda and then go home and play board games all day they used to have dollar candy like a whole aisle of it it was so much fun!!

Good Monday Morning

#1 - MECHANICAL PENCILS - I’m grateful for them all the time. Especially when I was keeping the score book for DD22’s teams throughout her travel softball career.

#2 - ERASERS ON THE PENCILS - I use them a lot. I prefer using pencils over pens so I can have the ability to erase things.

#3 - COLORED PENCILS - Sometimes I enjoy doing adult coloring books with colored pencils.

Uni ball pens absolutely love these things
I’m grateful my boss buys them because he likes him and I absolutely love them

I’m grateful for colored pens and highlighters I am a color person and it’s so funny because people know my work because it’s so colorful I don’t have to tell somebody I did something they can look at it and no I did it because why it’s full of color they’re like oh yeah that’s one of yours and I’m like yes it is because they all know I love color

I’m grateful for notebooks I always have notebooks at work so I can take notes during meetings but mainly I’m sitting there doodling as I’ve previously mentioned if you look back through any of my notes from any meeting training anything they are covered in my artwork it’s not great but it’s there

And as I’ve previously mentioned highlighters I have them in all the colors
Purple orange green yellow I have them all and I use all of them

I’m extremely grateful for post it notes and again you can get those in some amazing colors and sizes and even in notebook size you can go absolutely crazy with those things so highlighting a document it’s just not enough I got a slap some colorful post to note it’s on it I wanna make sure you see what I’m trying to get you to look at🤣🤣🤣🤣
I’m herding cats 🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛ here I need all the colorful help I can get 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I love writing with good pencils. In my opinion, one of the finest pencil ever made is the Mirado Black Warrior, but only the older ones, made in the USA with cedar wood. So glad that I can still find them on eBay.
I am grateful for the USA Gold and General's Cedar Pointe pencils, which are also good choices.
I am grateful for the Pentel brand, that makes good gel pens and ballpoint pens.
So glad I can get Staedtler erasers and eraser pens.

Catching up...

Things on a Stick (I am not a cat person, but they seem to like me) *Going to take some liberties to stray from the food angles..
Tripods/Monopods- I really need to invest in a new one, but it is essentially a way of stabilizing the big camera and putting it on a stick. It steadies it and it's less for me to carry.
Tees- I'm specifically thinking for softball and baseball, but I guess it works for golf too. If you've never seen one, it's essentially a stick/pole like contraption that holds the ball up so you can get in hitting work outside of work with an actual pitcher or machine. There are also tether version attached to a pole/stick.
Antenna Toppers- So, the antenna was essentially the big stick and you had a fun topper. Antennas like this are pretty much non-existent today, but I miss all of the cute Disney ones you used to be able to get for your vehicles.

Nevada (not my home state, nor have I ever lived there, but it's special)

Wedding & All of the Fun Details - So, I got married in Vegas. It was not the original plan, but it became the right plan. I should have taken it as a sign when the coordinator at my dream venue took forever to get back to me. It's never a good sign when you want to spend a lot of money with a business and they drag their feet. So, I picked another gorgeous venue that was never on my radar, but the stress of a big formal wedding got to me so badly that we decided to go with a crazy idea. We booked a wedding at one of the nice hotels in Vegas, invited everyone on our guest list, but also had a second reception in my home state and a third reception here in TX. Not only was this the cheaper angle...by picking Vegas, I regained my sanity, we had some super different/unique/special wedding and wedding prep features that we wouldn't have had anywhere else, it gave us a spot to return at any point in time for anniversary and just because kind of visits, and it gave us an angle to include everyone that wouldn't be able to travel to TX. A few little highlights... our gift to all in our wedding party was stage side seats for Wayne Newton (the pics are fun!), I got to parade through the lobbies of several of the big hotels on the Strip in my massive sparkly wedding gown, and it gave me a super easy theme for decorating/styling our other two receptions. Seriously...backyard full of Christmas lights in every color of the rainbow to represent the lights of Vegas, tables decorated like poker tables with centerpieces full of gaming chips, dice, and a blend of more lights and floating candles in giant fish bowls.

The Beetles - We brought the kids to Vegas for part of a Christmas trip in 2018. One of their gifts was front row seats to see LOVE, the Beetles themed Cirque du Soleil show. Now, I've always loved the group's music but this was the first time the kids were heavily exposed. It had such a profound impact on DD19 that they became her favorite all time group. It's because of this Vegas visit that she and I had a special trip to see Ringo in concert. I came really close to treating her to tickets for Paul this past fall but the timing as all off. That Ringo concert is also probably part of why she picked OU. I even get funny texts from her like "Mom, who is the most attractive Beetle?" I believe I replied John and she said, "WRONG, the correct answer is Paul!" 🤣

Proximity - Admittedly, we usually just wind up in Vegas and drive other places if we have a car and time permits. Still, there are some great places to drive to if you're up for it. From Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon, Death Valley and the casinos (and roller coaster) on the border in Primm, all the way to California. While it's a bit to get to the LA area, you're not far from the CA border.

Pencils...
Sketching- I love a good pencil to sketch.
Prismacolors- These are quite possibly the best colored pencils out there. Even if it's just for hobby, they will make all other colored pencils seem inferior.
Eyeliner- I don't wear a lot of it but I prefer a traditional eyeliner pencil as it usually give a softer look than the liquid stuff and I find it easier to control.

*Side note (not that it really matters): Those super colorful shoes I mentioned on Friday are not the brand's primary racing/speed shoes. I misunderstood. They are for speed training. LOL The run shop did recommend the legit speed/racing ones, but I'm not quite there (nor do I think I will ever be).

Afternoon all,

Have to admit I'm not getting a lot of inspiration when it comes to pencils!

1. Eyebrow pencils - something I use every day as my eyebrows are a little sparse thanks to overplucking when I was younger!

2. Ink eyeliner - not quite a pencil, but i use an ink style eyeliner with a very precise line as it seems to last longer and look better on me than proper pencil versions.

3. Stylus - both my phone and tablet have a stylus pen attached and they are so useful! I love the ability to take handwritten notes turned into typed text, without the need for paper.

I love pencils! (just not mechanical ones. I must press too hard because they always break.)
Staedtler Norica woodcased black HB2's are my current favorite. (for years I only bought Berols) I also appreciate the quality eraser on the end.
Pilot Precise V7 roller ball pens are my favorite, as well as Flairs.
I used to teach cursive writing, so even though I understand the pressure teachers are under as they keep getting more stuff they have to teach, I do think cursive helps with brain development, not just learning it for the sake of learning to write a signature. There is a connection between the hand and the brain that just isn't the same as that with the brain and a keyboard. OK, Getting down from my soapbox now. :)
