OCTOBER 30th & NOVEMBER 3rd Cruises (FE and Meets)

Well, I have been a cast member at WDW for nearly 15 years (15th anniversary on July 7th). I have held many roles, during that time. I have made a move and start at the Magic Kingdom (again) in Main Street West merchandise (Emporium, again) this next week.

A brief history...I was a salaried leader for 13 years until the layoffs of nearly 2,000 in March 2009. I made it back within my year and worked at Expedition Everest as an hourly PT cast member since March 2010. Next weekend I will be back at the Magic Kingdom-exactly where I did my college program back in the fall of 1994. I am looking forward to the change.
It will be nice to be back inside AC for the summer months, and of course having the chance to work some of the parties coming up this fall. DH has been a leader at WDW for 11 years...I still have him by 4 years!

Question when you say your a leader does that mean a manager? I know when I worked six flags great adventure I was a Lead for three years which was a manager. It's one step down from supervisor for the rides in my section. People never understood what lead ment when I told them that was part of my title. I was a lead ride operator trainer. :goodvibes

We were in cabin 10014 last cruise...trying to get the same one or the same area. Would like to be on starboard side next time.

Here is the viynlmation:

Howdy everyone,

Just got back from grocery shopping after getting up at 5 a.m. with a sick dog. Now I am pooped and will relax for the rest of the day.

Jason I sent you a copy of the CM list, let me know if you didnt get it.:thumbsup2

In a couple weeks I will send out a revised list to everyone since I have added a few new families and people to the FE list. That way those who have already started doing their FE gifts will have a current count.

Enjoy your weekend everyone,

Kathy

Got the list and now they are showing up in my stats...that was strange.:rolleyes1

Hi Everyone,
Hope you are enjoying your weekend. It's freezing cold here again. :confused3 I am just setting my sights on DH's and my trip to Sonoma Valley, CA in 2 weeks.

My DD7 (Leah) and I auditioned this week for the local community theater's summer production of Wizard of Oz. We are so excited to have made the cast. We will be in a variety of chorus parts and some really good friends made it too. I am trying to cram as many fun things into the summer as possible so it will fly by while we wait for the trip.

Anyone else have fun summer plans to make the time go by?

Our plans are a bit different than yours for the summer, but still fun for us.

We have 2 week vacations to the mountains here to hike, camp and ride our quads on the appropriate trails. My brothers and SIL will be joining us for part of the time which will be fun.

We have 2 weekend trips to the beach in a dog friendly hotel so we can let our dogs run on the sandy beach which they love to do.
Going to see an Olide Rock N roll goup in July, Paul Revere and the Raiders.

July 23rd I have put together (still working on it) the first Herrick family reunion. Thats my dads side of the family. My dad and all his 11 siblings and their spouses are deceased accept for one aunt and she cant remember people very well now. So for almost 6 months I have been researching to find my cousins and their families.
I have found a few cousins from each of my dads siblings accept for 2 families. Hopefully I have now found one of those families too.:goodvibes

They are scattered over 3 states and many of my aunts and uncles I didnt even know if they even had families and nobody else knows either so its been quite a challenge. But I have found enough to have this reunion.:thumbsup2

Now to finish putting together the family tree as best I can to give everyone a copy at the reunion. So far about 60 hours have gone into that, more to go.
Plus I have never put together a reunion before so that in itself is a challenge, which is keeping me busy.:rolleyes1

Lets see, oh yes, we are looking for a house to buy in Florida this summer so we can move back there again next fall sometime.:woohoo:

I think all of that will keep me busy enough to make the summer fly by.

I'm sure there will be more but not sure where I can fit it in at.:lmao:

Kathy

We don't have too much planned at this time. We have a Texas coast trip to visit with our daughter's birthfamily. Other than that, we are going to hang around here prepping for homeschool in the fall!

Hello everybody. Things have been so busy here. My daughter's wedding is less than 2 weeks away. We are trying to remember everything. I hope the weather is nice. We have been having rain since last week and the forecast doesn't show any signs of sun for a while. After this is behind us then I can continue with my planning for a 2 week road trip to the Grand Canyon. We will do this the end of June. When we get back the girls will have 2 weeks of summer dance classes and then we head down to Florida for the month of August. That's our summer plans.

Congrats Kathy on the new grandbaby on the way.

October is my favorite time of year to cruise. The weather is usually great and the water temp is perfect. This is our 3rd time sailing in October.

Hi Everyone,

Below are links to several cruise scrapbooking layouts. Of course, please check out on the disboards in the Just for fun forum, "Creative ideas" threads here. There are a ton of great ideas and picures to help you with this exhange.

This first one tells you how to basically scrap a page with a visual.

The next one has a page full of various photos to look at.

Evening all:

I have to read a little more to catch up. Just a very busy weekend so not much time here on the boards (or computer) for that matter.

I am trying to get my final payment together and pay off the cruise, so I can start booking things....yes I know, we have some time, but it will be here before we know it.

Been cold and rainy here, today the sun was out but only in the 50's we are having a slow warm up this week, so we should be decent by the weekend.

Nothing much else going on....

Have a good evening

I was a manager...Disney calls their managers leaders, because you don't manage people, you lead...at least if you are a good one...which I was! We also have coordinators, which are hourly cast members, with upgraded responsibilities. I had been promoted a few times, and was even promoted to lead a team of 25 hourly professional cast, and then the recession and layoffs...I was one (of 2,000 salaried cast) that was laid off in March 2009, my position was just eliminated. I was backstage at the time, in a support area. At least I had a decent severance package, made it back within a year so all my time bridged together, and I had 2 parents fighting cancer, so working part time is just what I needed...especially having a 6 year old in the house...it is so great being home when she gets home from school. I would have never voluntarily stepped down or away from my career, but God knew what I needed. I just love theme parks and tourism!

No summer vacation plans for us...DH and I both work at WDW, so since so many peple like to come to WDW in the summer, we generally find ourselves working. We may throw a weekend trip in, or something, but with airfare so much more during the summer, plus harder time getting time off, we will enjoy our upcoming Sept trip to Disneyland, October cruise, and the 3 half matarhons we have coming up.

Stephanie

I would love to work for Disney seasonally when I semi-retire. I still have at least 5 years until that can happen. My youngest will be 12 then.
