OCTOBER 30th & NOVEMBER 3rd Cruises (FE and Meets)

Spring has sprung here as well. We aren't quite ready to plant tomatoes, but the grass seed is going in today. I'm also enjoying finally being able to run outside in the nice weather. Might make my goal weight for the cruise after all.

I have pretty much decided to surprise my girls next month instead of waiting all the way until we leave. I am afraid someone will spoil the surprise (too many people know) and I really want to talk about it with them. My DH is patient and understanding, but he doesn't want to discuss every detail with me and they will. I also want them to be able to choose Halloween costumes based on what we're actually doing, and not based on the possibility of snow here in the northland. ;)

Well, we're off to play outside. Have a great day, everyone.

Morning all,

Denise I have 9 months to wait she isnt due until January 12th. She just found out 2 days before mothers day that she was pregnant. That means if it comes on time I will have 3 grandkids born within 2 weeks of each other and a 4th 2 weeks later. That could break grandma's piggy bank:goodvibes

I am not going to change my posting name until she is all done having kids:lmao:
With her you cant tell how many more she will have.

We finally have some sunshine today. No rain for two days if they are right, that would be so nice. I can't wait for summer to arrive:worship::worship::worship:

Welcome to all the new cruisers!!! Seems like we get new ones every few days. Makes me wonder how full the ship will be in October.

I do have a question for all the veteran cruisers. We were originally assigned the late seating for dinner and we thought that was a good idea with our crew of 5. But I just checked a couple days ago and noticed we are now assigned the main seating with the late show. My question is if this will be a good fit for my family or not. We have a DS 12, DS11, and DD11 who we think will love the Edge. Will this seating be bad timing for our group? We know we'll go ashore for Nassau and CC, but we should be back in plenty of time for the dinners. But how is this timing for other night time schedules on the ship?

Thanks!!!

JB, are you staying at the WLV after as well? If yes, ask if Bell service can hold a suitcase for you while on the cruise, that way you don't have to lug as much stuff to the port and on the ship. SSR has done it for us in the past and we just packed a park suitcase and cruise suitcase(s).

Pj

Yes thank U! We r staying at the WLV when we come back too and plan on leaving some stuff behind. This will be our 7th Disney Cruise and we have done that in the past! It's great not to have to bring everything on the cruise but we did get a 1 bedroom so we will have the washer and dryer when we get back to wash clothes from the cruise. My husband is making sure I pack light because I am known to pack way too much stuff and now with flying Spirit we have to pay for our luggage and the weight limit has been changed to 40 pounds or less!:scared1:

We are also flying spirit. We are flying out of Atlantic city on the first flight in the morning. I had no idea they changed the weight to 40lbs. I thought it was still 50lbs. :sad2:

We bought us each 1 carryon and 1 checked bag. We are flying DS as a lap child. My parents are also joining us so he has a lot of laps to move between. :goodvibes

We love flying out of atlantic city over philadelpha airport. It cost a bit more but so worth it. :thumbsup2

Good Morning! Well, we've skipped right from snow to summer now. Spring was a blink and you missed it event, I guess. Seriously, last week we had flurries, yesterday it was almost 90. :confused3

I'm enjoying a few minutes of quiet this morning before things get going. Leah (DD7) and her Brownie troop are performing at their service unit's international festival on Saturday. They are representing Germany, so I have 5 skirts to make before Saturday morning. I am also trying to get things planted to take advantage of the rain that is forecast.

This is always such a busy time of year. Piano and dance recitals are on the horizon. Last field trips and end of school programs coming up. It will all help make the time go faster. I am stalled out in planning: nothing to do for a while now that ADRs are made and too early to book anything on the Dream.

Sophie (DD4) lost her first tooth this week. A bittersweet milestone: no more first lost teeth in our house.

Hope you all have a great day.

I'm guessing that the ship will sail pretty full (if not completely full).

Early or late dining I think depends on your habits at home and how easily your family will adjust. For us (3 adults) late seating made sense - we never eat early at home (usually dinner is between 6:30 and 7:30pm). Also on cruises, we're not early risers so our whole schedule gets pushed back (later lunch, later dinner). There are show times for whichever dining time you have (early diners eat first, show second - late diners show first, dine second).

it is usually easier to switch from early seating to late seating than the other way around. If you can't decide now, you can always have it switched once you are on the ship.

Just a quick hello to all.
Pouring rain here which is typical of Spring in Oregon.

Bought tickets to see Paul Revere and the Raiders today for a July concert. Showing my age I guess but I like them.:goodvibes I have seen them many times at Epcot over the years.

This time they are at a local casino. Should be a great show.:thumbsup2

Later everyone,

Kathy

Not sure what it will be like on the Dream, but our family loves second dining. We are a family of 3, and we live near Orlando. We have found that when we do main dining (2 cruises), we race from the ports to get ready, we don't order room service, or even enjoy snacks on deck. We tend to sleep in on vacation, and so with that, combined with main dining, I always feel stuffed.

The 2 cruises we took that we had main dining, I was having to leave dinner to go take our DD, 6 now, to the clubs mid-meal. Second dining, the servers serve the kids quicker, and 45 minutes in to dinner, the kids counselors are in the dining room to take the kids to the clubs. It is so much more relaxing for DH and I.

As for activities, you will still be able to see the shows, regardless of dining time. Many of the activities also fall in-between show times so both groups can catch. We never have felt that we have missed out on activities when having second dining, but have felt rushed at ports, especially on the longer cruises, in order to get back for main dining.

I agree with another poster...you can change easier from main to second dining once onboard...much more difficult to switch from second to main onboard.

To keep all my co-workers from getting tired of all my talk about WDW and the upcoming cruise, I put them and their family in the picture. I describe the activities/rides/attractions that they or their children would enjoy. In my head however, it's MY family that's enjoying the magic.

I'm having some withdrawals because we did not go to the World last year. The result is more daydreaming and endless talk to anyone that will listen (or at least within ear shot).

OK, now I'm off to look for a new camera to take on the cruise. Probably digital SLR. I like to take pics.

I have had to scale back on my excitement, as well! People just don't want to hear about it when it isn't them (or so it seems!).

At least I have all my DIS friends to chat with!!!

I love to sit here and read everyones comments on here. I learn a lot from you all. I love disney so much people at my work dont want to hear it too.

It's gotten to the point where my FAMILY doesn't even want to hear it.

Whenever I start talking WDW or the cruises, my mother says to me, "Just make sure you plan some bathroom breaks in there, okay?" :rotfl:

She thinks I over do it......

Thanks Stephanie and Trisha for the responses on the main and late dining. Sounds like our family really might be better off with the late dining. I'm guessing that shouldn't be too difficult to get as I would imagine most people with younger children would want the main dining.

On another note, I wish they would put our new Thread on the Meets page with the rest of the meet threads. For now I'll just use my favorites key...

There is NO such thing as over doing planning and the excitement of a Disney cruise:goodvibes
My family also use to get tired of hear about it until we took them on a Disney cruise. That changed their minds right fast:thumbsup2

We love late dining, even with our younger kids! I liked being able to chill prior to dinner. Some of the variety shows weren't our thing, so we did whatever. We made sure the girls had a bit of a rest in the afternoon and then had a snack. No problem with room service!

New to the 10/30 Sailing group...

The Shepherd Family will be going to our 2nd DC this year. We just got off the Dream and want back on ASAP.

Oldest daughter missed out because of college and she works at DL.

But we are all coming on the this cruise...she is the Disney nut and was really jealous we went with out her.

I already sent a PM for the FE...anything else special going on with this group.

I need to read a lot to catch up....LOL....I could not believe you guys already filled another section of the forums with this cruise...WOW.

We are coming from Dallas, TX + Yorba Linda, CA.

I recommend everyone get a 9" ViynlMation to get signed by the characters...drop off at GS with a bag of candy and it will come back amazing. If you want to see pics let me know.

Looking forward to spending more time on the ship than the ports...Also praying for good weather during this time of year. Anyone sail in October before to CC or Bahamas?

Hello, Shepherd Family! Welcome to the cruise! I would love to see pictures of your signed Vinylmation. Any other tips or tricks you learned on the Dream? What cabin were you in and are you staying in the same one this next time?

Welcome aboard! It's me, Stephanie, DH-Pete, and DD-Kayla (6 almost 7) on this cruise. It will be my 13th, DH 11th,m and DD 8th DCL trip. We love Disney a lot! DH and I both work at WDW, so we live Disney in our daily lives.

I saw your DD actualy works at DL...DH and I are heading out there for the Disneyland half marathon in September...it will be our 2nd half marathon-did WDW this past January.

I may do a Vinlymation this time, but we love and use our signed pillowcases from each cruise. I'm not sure I want to break from our tradition...DD uses hers every night, and has sweet dreams of our upcoming and previous cruises.

Weather in October in the Bahamas is exactly what you will find in Florida that time of year...depending on the summer, the water temp will still be good to enjoy. The humidity is gone...it's our favorite months here in central FL. While we haven't cruised in Oct before, we have cruised to the Bahamas in Jan, March, Aug, Nov, and Dec...Castaway Cay water is definitely shilly for us in the winter, but it's a great place to relax after 6 nights in the western or eastern Caribbean. We tend to do the longer cruises...but we wanted to get on the Dream this year, so a short one.

Stephanie
