OCTOBER 30th & NOVEMBER 3rd Cruises (FE and Meets)

Ugh!!!! Honestly, his father and and I might mind more than he does, unfortunately!

We are booked for Remy's on both our B2B. We did both around the 6:30-7pm time as the last time we ate there was on the Maiden Voyage and yes, that meal lasted 4 hours. You can order/eat as much as you want until the kitchen closes and we wanted more .. :(

We didn't even notice that it had been 4 hours until we were done and looked at the time. For us the Dinner flew by as we such fun tasting everything they gave us and it was all WONDERFUL.

Would anyone be interested in a Stem to Stern Wine Tasting? If we had enough people, we could arrange a private tasting :)

Any idea how many whites versus reds are usually included? I'm allergic to red wine but would be interested if there were enough whites involved.

Typically, there are six 3oz serving, so my guess would be 3 of each but a private tasting could request anything.

I know that DCL has done private tastings on the Magic during the Trans-atlantic cruises. I did a mixology, what a blast! ;) And a Martini, a lot of fun, but not my cup of tea. The Dis group also did several wine, a cognac, whiskey and a couple of others, maybe tequila. I think that each class had a up to 36 people. I think DCL does about 5-20 in the regularly scheduled classes.

Pj

I've done plenty of wine tastings, but could be pursaded to do another. But my preference would be a martini, tequila as those always are a lot of fun with typically you end up with way more than 4-5 mini (3oz) martini tastes that are they start with. Usually we are blasted by the time it's over.

Tequila's are always fun and typically you can sneak a few more tastes in but you have to like tequila. Mojita's are the same way fun with more tastes than you can shake a glass at. Found out I my system does not like the extra sugar in Mojitas, I'll stick to Martini's and tequila.

Have not tried (but want to) a Mixology tasting. :wizard:

All tastings are done on Sea days (which makes longer cruises great for tastings). So, I don't expect to many opportunities for tastes on this cruise unless they are private.

Anyone up for a single day of all the tastings, One right after the other... :dance3:

As I have heard on previous cruises... "Better cruisin' thru boozin'" :lmao:

I'd be up for the Martini or Margarita or Tequila tasting (in addition to or instead of the wine tasting).

I've been looking over some navigators and realized that I need to spend my time on the 4 day drinking (I believe there is a tasting the afternoon we're in Nassau, and of course on the sea day) and recovering on the following 3 day.

Mmmmm! Margaritas! Those tastings sound like fun, too! Uh oh!

we're driving from Toronto (well Scarborough - a suburb). It's a long drive but my dad won't fly and with my mom in the wheelchair, it's tough to get her on a plane..

That is a long drive! I have family in the Toronto area. We are from Newfoundland and are making a quick stop over on our flight down.

On the Magic it was 1/2 of them. If I recall correctly we had 3 of each...it was in 2009 so I am not 100% sure.

As I recall, there were a mixture of reds and whites included last time. If we have a private gathering, I am sure I could request only whites. I am not a huge fan of reds either !!! Ducking for cover! ;)

I think there could be 5 of us interested in something like this.

We've done Stem to Stern, and loved it. We are hooked on the martini and tequilla tastings now...and haven't done the beer one, so I am thinking we may try that one this time if they do it. Haven't seen a mojito tasting, but I would do that one too! We haven't done anything shorter than 5 days for 6 years...we love our 7 night cruises. I am hoping our 3 night on RCCL is a lot of fun coming uo...18 days until I am on a ship!

I have read in TRs that some of the bar CMs will hold personalize tastings, you cover the cost of the drinks, during slower time of the days, you just have to ask ahead of time and make arrangements. I think I have read about Martini and Margaritas done this way.

I think three people in our party would be interested. :cheer2: I would need to confirm with my DH and FIL and as long as we had time in the nursery for DD.

Hello All-
We are booked on the Oct 30 Dream sailing and it will be our first cruise. We're really excited and looking forward to it. It will be myself, my wife and our two kids (DD6 and DS4). I have a few questions that I hope someone on here will be able to answer:

Frist: what is a Fish Exchange?

Second: Is Nassau as bad as we've heard? We were looking at doing the Blue Lagoon Dolphin Encounter but I've heard a lot of people on these boards say the best excursion at Nassau is to stay on the ship. Any advice or input would be greatly appreciated.

We have been to Nassau 6 or 7 times so we are not getting off boat this time. I would highly recommend Atlantis Aquarium and water area but have not done any other excursions. I do not personally feel comfortable shopping in town.

There is a fish (on the DREAM some are sea horses and some are starfish) by the door of each stateroom behind which papers can be left so hallways are not cluttered. DISers who are interested hang a tote bag or narrow pocketed strip (10 - 12 inches wide) and other interested DISers leave surprises which may be pencils, washable pirate tattoos, candy, stickers, homemade items, etc)
Interested people sign up so you have a list of where to deliver your treat.

Nassau is lovely. Many people have been on 3 and 4 night cruises many times so are bored with it. It is a Bahamian Island, it is not a suburb with a mall. There are ladies who offer to braid any hair longer than 1/2 inch and men who offer you a taxi ride to Straw Market which is three blocks away.

We have enjoyed our excursions to the gardens and zoo with marching flamingoes, snorkeling and beach day to Blue Lagoon and Rose Island. We always choose Disney excursions because we know the operators have been selected based on safety and quality. Also, if for any reason the excursion is delayed, they hold the ship. If you go off on your own and are late, the ship leaves port at its scheduled time and you are responsible for meeting it at the next port and the costs thereof.

We have friends who have done the Dolphin Excursion you reference and loves it.

:boat: Welcome Aboard :sail:

We have walked around Nassau several times but not with small children who might get tired. There are some very nice stores and old colonial buildings a few blocks back from the port. The port terminal building has some shops with local merchandise and a good atmosphere. The Straw Market is crowded and sellers try to talk you into purchases so you must be willing and able to bargain or say no repeatedly while you keep walking as stopping to look convinces them that they have a sale pending. We have done it twice and that is enough but we do not want more tote bags, beach towels, t-shirts or jewelry.

There are usually hair braiders on the ship and at Castaway Cay. I would use them for hair braids if I wanted them (but I don't) and shop at CC since that is the only place you can get CC Disney Bahamian items which I prefer.

Nassau is not dangerous, it is just different from home.

(PS Fish Extender is named for the bag or pocketed strip that "extends" the holding capacity of the fish.)

Welcome aboard! I see you're a fellow cheesehead. I actually am a transplant here in Florida now, and I have been here 15 years, but WI still holds a place in my heart. I saw Racine, WI, and I am drooling thinking of a Kringle right now! If you end up doing the FE, I'll take one of those (just kidding, as we have usually spent $1-5 pp on FE, depending on how many FE folks in the group).

I would trust any DCL excursion in Nassau. I have just been 6 or 7 times, and so me the novelty has worn off...I have never felt unsafe. We are actually headng on a RCCL cruise in 2 weeks, and we will be in Nassau...we are actually there until 11pm, so I am thinking we will get off to enjoy Senor Frogs. I have done the Caribbean Queen snorkel twice (GREAT!), the tour of Atlantis with the Aquarium...very good. Since I live in Orlando, and can go to Disney waterparks anytime, I won't pay Atlantis waterpark prices...From what I have heard from friends, there are some really nice ones in WI Dells now, and those are a lot cheaper too.

I think the reason you see so many people on the boards say the best excursion is to stay on the ship may be due to the fact that so many of us have been there multiple times. For us, we are platinum Castaway Club members, and since this is our 1st cruise on the Dream, we will probably stay in the ship to enjoy her. If it were my 1st cruise, I would be getting off and doing an excursion.

Hi all I have a Q. Does anyone know the name of the Pirate place by the strew market?

A question for all you DCL veterans who have gotten off the ship at Nassau, the Navigators say ship return time is 6:00PM, is that pretty much always the case? We're planning the Day at Alantis. If we want to make MDR seating what time should we begin to head back to the Dream? We don't take long to get ready once on the ship, maybe a half hour at most. Just trying to figure out if we'll miss our MDR dinner that night.

I want our kids to enjoy every dinner in the dining rooms but we also don't want to cut our trip to Atlantis short just to make it back on time. I've also heard that Cabanas evening sit down dinner has many of the same items on the menu as the main dining room, so we can always go that route. It's not like we'll go hungry no matter what we decide:)

Thanks and welcome aboard all our new cruisers!!!

Edit: Now that I think of it, is that Pirate night?
