DD woke up with a sore throat..................ugghhhhhh

I am feeling so much better.finally i think another 2 days on the meds and i will be 100% again.

I had my first sewing class last night. Based on what we did last night and what she talked about us covering, I think I pretty much know everything already. For example, she mentioned that she didn't know if we would get to zippers because they are kind of advanced but I already know how to put in a zipper.

It's definitely good to get the practice though. Plus, she said we could bring in stuff that we'd like to do and work on it there if we want. I'm also taking the class with a friend from work and we were laughing at each other the whole time.

Hopefully, this will give me the confidence to sew some stuff before the cruise... like the shirt I've already dismantled. :rotfl:

For the school fund raisers... I just buy what I need but we don't go door to door, nor do I take it to work. Then I donate an extra $50. :thumbsup2

However, for the cub scouts - the Popcorn sale is supposed to teach the kids about the importance of raising money, marketing, etc... Yeah, that one I take to work and sell everything within a day!! :lmao: Bad Kimmie!! :rotfl2:

Awwww... Glad you are feeling better! Hopefully your DD will bounce back quickly and won't be hit as hard as you were.

Paula, how's E today? Back to school I hope? I'm dealing with Noah's WITCH of a teacher for this year. I had heard horrible things such as she's harder on boys, is very strict, etc... well, Noah's weekly progress reports last year were very good - with issues of talking or being the mother hen cropping up every now and then.

His first report from the WITCH - 8 opportunites of positive comments and 8 for negative. Noah got NO positive remarks and 6 out of 8 negatives. I am FLOORED!! How does a child fall so far off center so quickly????

I've asked for a meeting. The little girl that sits next to him was moved because they were talking too much. She got a glowing report - hmmmmm... apparently Noah was the instigator? I'm not saying he's perfect but where does this teacher get off by NOT throwing him a bone with at least ONE positive remark???? He's scared to death of her. How is that as a good learning environment??? Ok, rant over. Stay tuned.

I only take 1 fundraiser around to neighbors, etc...and that is the boy scout popcorn. Otherwise we do attend the school functions/fundraisers (carnival, ice cream social, etc). It does get to be too much/too many fundraisers especially if your kids are in sports, choir, etc.

Have a good day everyone!

How are all the not so well doing? Just sending well wishes to all of you...
Tara

There's a boy scout popcorn thing hanging up in the kitchen here at work. What a freaking rip off! How much of the money actually goes to the troup anyway?

Great day in South Jersey wish I didnt have to go to work. OK never mind I whis I could win the lotterypixiedust: pixiedust:

It's kinda expensive..I know..wish it was more in line w/ what girl scout cookies cost. The boys get to keep the profit in their own "boy scout account" and can use it towards expenses for trips, etc. I'm not sure of the percentage though. We start sales soon so I'll have to check into it.

The popcorn is good though. popcorn:: popcorn:: popcorn:: popcorn::

We are currently selling Innisbrook wrapping paper, we sell it every year..One good thing as that Faculty get everything 1/2 price and the second is that the Grandparents on both sides take it to work for DD so she makes out well and so does the school. I was a Girl Scout cookie mom oncE. I WILL NEVER DO THAT AGAIN LOL!!!

:grouphug: Hugs to all those who are still feeling icky:sick:

* Thank you to everyone who has pm'd me your info, I promise it is being updated, I don't have any extra time till tomorrow evening so I'll see how much I can get done then. I DID NOT include all of the DH's, Kiddo's, Relatives and Friends because their would just not be enough room. :goodvibes

* If you don't mind your room number being added to your name just send me a pm and I will add it. I will only post those who WANT it to be included. Except for those who have taken an active part in planning and have become "IN CHARGE" of a certain DIS event. If you want your stateroom number deleted please just let me know.:dance3:

HAVE AN AMAZING DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Quite a bit actually! After the cost of the product, my son made about 45% of what he sold and it right into his cub scout account.

Judy and I would never buy anything for children's fundraising from parents at work. However, this did not stop us from looking at the catalogs and if the child called us (and we would give our home phone number to the parents) we would place an order with the child. We would allow the parent to collect the money from us and deliver the product, but the child had to make the sales call.

Same thing with neighbors, the child had to be doing the selling.

And to believe, I trekked all around my neighborhood alone selling oranges and grapefruit to raise money for our every other year marching band trips. My boy scout troop sold Christmas trees.

DC100- DW already said it, but I want to offer my thanks and stand in awe of that calendar. :worship: In a hour? It would take me days. :confused3 :badpc: I guess I just keep to the basics at home, as I'm one of the SuperUsers in our work system (helps at work, but not with the at-home skills, oh-well).

Time for leftovers!

:groom:

Well, i have always said NOT we are not selling absolutley not , the only thing i sold was girl scout cookies 2 years in a row...................

But my DS(14) insisited and i siad.....fine.........but i wont help you , go yourself and do it.........he wanted the stupid freakin prizes.............which are another thing i think is rediculous............

cant you have your son moved into a different class............or do you guys not have that option......................going to school when you dont like or dont click with your teacher IS NOT FUN!!!!!!!!!!!

THANK GOODNESSS both my kids like everyone this year!!!!!:goodvibes

THANK YOU FOR ALL THE NICE COMPLIMENTS!! but as a former teacher and current Programs Director I whip out flyers, calendars, brochures, etc...all day long so not only is it my forte' so to speak. I also love to do it, so it was fun for me and I appreciate everyone's kind words.

Dizz, how's DD feeling??

and Ethan???

I found out that Kimmie is right across the hall from me on Deck 2.....so she'll have someone close by incase a shipboard romance should develop:dance3:
JK:lmao: :rotfl2:

Any more thoughts on times for group photos??

Just checking in for the evening..........

Kimmielee pixiedust: for Noah & his school situation.

Extra pixiedust: for all the sickies.

Don't have to sell any stuff since we don't have any kiddos. :goodvibes: Have bought some stuff however & usually hate feeling obligated to buy it.

My best friend & her family are at the Happy Place aka Disney World & she just called me to tell me her little man got a Magical Moments certificate today & got to be an honorary lost boy. I  Disney!!!!!!!!!!

I am still working out about 3-4 times a week. I am proud of myself for keeping it up. It sure is hard some days. It was hard tonight.......but I did it. :cheer2: I can tell things are firming up, but it's really not speeding up the weight loss much. :sad2:

Have a good night ya'll.

As an assistant girl scout leader - woo hoo - we get to keep between .45 to .53 per box. It is disheartening when we have a living room (STILL!!!) full of cookies, because we ordered a few too many cases! UGH. I can empathize with all of you selling stuff - being a peddler is not so fun at times (nor is the lack of reward). As far as selling stuff at school goes...we send a note and a check for $50. The note says, "Please, don't send anything home for my daughter to sell. Take the $50 in place of that." So far...so good, three years running! haha
