October 25, 2014 Fantasy Western "The Not So Scary Halloween Cruise 2014" Part 2

I had a hard time deciding where to stay. I usually rent points from a DVC person, but they all seemed to be taken. I had a hard time finding a place and I have never stayed at Wilderness Cabins, but then I looked at them and they don't look very nice. :confused3 Maybe they are better than they look, but I ended up booking through Expedia. Disneyworld.com had it completely sold out, but Expedia was offering it at the lower rate. :thumbsup2

I liked Coronado when I stayed there and I am sure you will like it. Since it is one night, you might request a room towards the front of the resort. I have heard people being placed towards the back have had to walk long distances to get to and from the busses and such. If you are driving it may not matter, but that was the biggest complaint about the resort. I did request the front rooms, so no problems there.

We have APs so I am hoping to get down there early enough to play at Epcot or DHS. Preferably Epcot because DHS is one of my least favorite parks, but I wonder if they are going to have the Frozen fireworks that night. :scratchin

Me again..I'll just chat away. I'm not as good at it as Bear, but I'll do my best. :lmao: :wave2:

I just ordered Nico a tux, so I will probably go ahead with the pictures. Last time I had him "dress up" for formal night, he came down scowling because the Edge was taking over the Aquaduck and he wanted to do that instead. I let him go because there was no point in having pictures of a scowling teen. People might get the wrong idea that Disney Cruises are no fun for teens ;)

He can wear it on the next few cruises, so at least it was worth the money. Plus, they have home school Spring Formals in my county, so he can wear it then as well.

Rental car prices are insane for those who like large vehicles and pack the kitchen sink. I kept waiting for prices to come down.... Not.
Couldn't justify the price for 10 -11 days and port parking.
So this will be a first using the rental car shuttles to/from port.
But saves ~$400.00~ :scared1:

:goodvibes

I looked at renting a car to drive home. It was over $400 because I need the bigger car with my crew. Prices are outrageous. I'm just paying the $120 to park at the port.

On a completely random note, I am trying to finish Christmas presents. I just bought tickets to Shear Madness at the Kennedy Center for Nico. I haven't seen it in so long, so I am really looking forward to going again.:thumbsup2

There has been a discussion on FB regarding Anna and Elsa tickets the first day. On my Aug 30th cruise, we were to head to Animator's Palette Embarkment day to pick up ticket. Mid Sept, it seems they were sending people to Deck 4 D lounge. In the latest Navigator available, Sept 27th they were asking people to head to Deck 5 Port Adventures first day.

Please read your navigator the CM hands you and look on the first page to find out where we will be herded off to get tickets. Disney seems to be changing the locations.

That doesn't surprise me any. I'm sure it comes down to what is available as far as spaces on the first day. If there's a group that reserves the D Lounge then ticket distribution would have to move elsewhere.

Yeah, who knows where it will be our cruise. I just want to make sure people are reading the Navigators instead of going off older ones.

We are a family of 2 (15 yr girls) and 1 (11yr boy) on the 7th floor. We have our fish extender on order.

I have pm'd you about the FE which closes on the 11th October

I have provisionally booked your three children on it, can you let me know who else is in your cabin, thank sarah

I believe I forgot to mention Grandma is coming back with us after the cruise, on the same flight;
Somehow she had our flight #, or times, and she's still articulate in her old age, and made ressies. So she will be traveling home to DC with us on the same flight. EEK.
And will be staying with us at our home thru Xmas. :crazy2:
:sad1:

We are staying at her home the night before the cruise locally to PC.
We are staying at her home for two nights after the cruise too.
And now we are apparently bringing her home too.

This is what created a problem with the rental cars.
Our family could fit with the kitchen sink in a premium rental, ie, 300M.
With Grandma and her baggage , no way.
So we made a ressie for a minivan with Avis, at PC, for 2 days, after we debark. Will drop car at MCO.
Price is a ridiculously astronomical amount. Going to have to make Grandma make extra cookies and such to try to make up for the $150 minivan markup, to accommodate another pax and 3 more huge bags. Lol.

I may check rental cars prices prior to booking future cruises in southern FL in the future. Lol. I may have to ask Grandma if she will be involved.
She just decided it was a great time to come up and visit for the rest of the Holidays this year. EEEEK.

I've been known to check flight cost, insurance cost, etc. ... but cars ? ? ?, ... never. Live and learn.
The cars cost more than the flights fwiw. :sad1:

Something is wrong with this situation, which makes me have a bad feeling about the whole thing. ARgh.

Oh, ... of course Grandma has a little baby Prius, or something hybrid with no space, of course. Arrgh. So that is rendered moot.
And of course she expect to travel the 45 minutes to MCO with us in the same vehicle. Arrrgh. :furious:

Did I mention she travels with a cat. :worried:

At least she didn't/couldn't book a seat next to us on flight home though. :)

So much for unwinding from a cruise at home. :bitelip:

:goodvibes

We didn't know till recently she wanted to join us on the same flight home.

She will be traveling with her CAT aboard the aircraft too. :scared1:

So we need to book a minivan or above to acccomdate Grandma and her three humongous bags and us 4 pax.

She will will be staying with us thru Thanksgiving and likely Xmas too. :sad1:

Grandma rant over.

Thanks for reading.

:goodvibes

ETA; Big rant it is , I see, after posting. Wow.
It's still devastating news. Lol.

A tux sounds nice! DH would never do it! I'm happy he's agreeable to a suit on vacation!

I'm getting excited about getting dressed up, I just ordered a pretty Joan Rivers sequence wrap Friday from qvc to go with my formal dress! I have a new sundress & floral wrap to wear for semi formal night, and I bought a really cute maxi skirt yesterday. I'm thinking I want to be a little dressy each night for dinner, but not totally dressed up either.

How do you guys dress for dinner?

Thanks for all of the announcements. How much does it cost to participate in the wine tasting?

You seem to have a lot of thoughts & feeling about this grandma, maybe you need to have a sit down on Freuds couch :lmao:. Is this your grandma? Wife's? You mother or mother in law?

I have pm'd you about the FE which closes on the 11th October

Is there anyway we can still join in on the FE?
We would love to:wave2:

REQUEST - Trick-or-Treat Public Area Station Locations: If you have cruised on the Fantasy and have a specific public area location to recommend please PM Maggie Bottom Facebook or DIS Travoria. When recommending location keep in mind:
1) 10-20 children/adults in that area at once
2) Is it a high traffic area?
3) Need 8-10 locations
4) Is there a seating accommodation for station attendants?
5) Times will probably be between 10-11:30am (subject to change but shooting for between breakfast & lunch sugar high)
6) PLEASE do not post here as a comment. Want to keep this as much as a surprise as possible for everyone...even adults!
7) Submit suggestions by July 1st as a fellow cruise mate will be on the Fantasy in August and she's going to walk the route we establish for any issues.

Can we still sign up for the trick or treating? Please
:wave2:

I am not Travoria <--- OMG I just "got" her screen name :rotfl2: but I know that the TOT is completely closed. Actually, Travoria isn't even on the cruise anymore and isn't in charge of FE anymore. I am sorry, but that is one that had to close.

OMG! I completely understand in a totally different way. I can imagine how much of a shock that was for you. But, I know when someone's decisions are costing you a lot more money than you had originally planned (especially when it is a "grandma") it eats away at you. I had a similar situation with the EBTA (2015) only, it cost me an extra person!! So, spending about $1200, I haven't added airfare yet) more than I had intended or even needed to...and I booked in April, it's still bothering me. (Maybe because the person has yet to say, "thank you") But, YES!! I completely and totally understand. At least mine is only 15 days, you have an entire two months to deal.

So you're staying at CS also? I've never booked any trip thru any of the various websites, did it go smoothly?

This was the first time I had as well and yes, it went very smoothly. I'm at Riverside not CS, but again, Disney didn't have Riverside at the discounted price and Expedia did :) I had to pay upfront, but I would have had to with Disney as well booking last minute.

A tux sounds nice! DH would never do it! I'm happy he's agreeable to a suit on vacation!

How do you guys dress for dinner?

Nico is 14, so when I told him I was buying him a tux, he didn't tell me no. ;) WE just went through the Navigator because in the latest one I could find, Aladdin (which is the formal night show) was showing 3 times. I told my kids we are getting a formal picture together, so we needed to kind of go through and plan when to meet up for formal night. I either wear jeans with a body suit or a long skirt. Probably changes depending on the weather, but I am always cold. I know body suits are so out of fashion, but I don't care. I hate shopping that much. :lmao:

I want to meet Anna & Elsa, so we're totally getting tickets. I've seen in some other threads there were tickets needed to meet the princesses & Disney jr cast. Is this correct or was this for shorter cruises?

I don't remember seeing on the Navigators any tickets needed for Disney Jr, but my kids aren't into that anymore, so I'm not sure I would have paid attention to it. When they hand you the navigator after checking in, read the very front page and it will tell you where and when to pick up Anna and Elsa tickets. It is usually as soon as you board, but the location has been changing. If you need to pick up tickets for the Disney Jr characters, I imagine it would tell you on the Navigator as well, but you can always ask when you walk in to make sure.
