Jackie:

Re the DIS tag. I have checked out these threads but it all sounds a bit complicated to do it this way. I think it might be better to keep it informal, with everyone delivering their fish extender gifts as and when they feel inclined / have a spare moment / suits their arrangments etc rather than to feel obligated to do it within a specific time scale following a tagging. I would also be worried about the tag going missing and people getting missed as has happened on some of those threads. What does everyone else think?

I totally agree. We tried to play"tag" on our last trip and it just did not work well for us. By the 4th day we were all instructed to leave our gifts went we could. I love to idea of it being much more flexible.

I also agree, keep it simple. i read the tag thing and it just seems like a hassle. :confused3

As far as getting to know everyone, here goes nothing. My name is Vanessa, This will be our first real family vacation and our first disney cruise. My DH and I have cruised with NCL before and cruising is really the only type of vacation we enjoy. We are not big on long lines, traffic, big crowds of pushy people etc........ We are a pretty laid back family that loves to have fun. I have 2 DD's, Alexus (8) & Gabby (5) at time of cruise. For the most part I am pretty social on here but in person I tend to be shy at first. We live in Northfield, New Hampshire. Uhhhhh................I guess thats all for now. If anyone has questions feel free to ask away.:lmao:

4 more months to the day until we leave for Florida!!!:hyper:

i know i know it sounds alot like the movie "Meet The Fockers" lol we get taht all the time! My name is Amy im 31.5 and my Husband, Todd will be 41 in November, we have 2 kids, Hayleigh 11 ans Mason 8 atc. We live in Vero Beach, FL about an hour from the port and Disney World. This is our 4th DC and we LOVE it, cruising is the way to go....gas prices, hotel $$, food, activities....get the picture? We are a very fun loving humerous, goofy family. We love to laugh and joke around. Well thats all for now, ask for more details if needed. lol:cool1:

Hi all ...
Jumping on the bandwagon (although how I'm going to remember it all in four months will be a magical moment in itself).

My name is Shoshana (turning the big 3-0 next week) and I'm married to the adorable Adam (who will be turning 33 six days before we cruise). We met online and married last October (see our wedding pic in a previous post). We live in the West San Fernando Valley (like, yeah!) and have APs to Disneyland (we go about once a month). He's in database creation and management; I'm an editor and writer for a weekly publication. No kids ... but we sometimes act like children, so it evens out. This will be my third DCL trip (15th or 16th cruise overall) and Adam's first DCL trip. We're cruiseaholics. :woohoo:

great idea
hi I'm Jackie 41 married to Michael 46 we come from Ireland and love WDW and now are hooked on DCL , this will be our 3rd cruise rebooked last year on baord
we are DVC members as well
we have 3 sons 21 ,17 and youngest will be 10 this Monday
only the 2 younger ones are cruising oldest has out grown disney

Scoop on us....We are the Eddy family from Newfoundland, Canada. I (Rexanne) am 40 years old, Greg (DH) is 41, and kids are Nathan (12) and Katherine (10). We have a golden retriever as well but name is Jessie not Amber. However, same name as NewfieMom's dog.

This is our 2nd Disney Cruise. We were not part of a discussion group on our last cruise and learned about this one from NewfieMom.

Woody, I agree with you on the lanyards about making a list and just getting them for those that want them. Great idea. Should make it easier for Dana.

Rexanne :cool2:

OK Amy now every time I see you on the ship I am gonna crack up thinking about "meet the fockers" . I Love that movie. :rotfl2:

Okay, we're the Matterns from Virginia - just outside of DC. I'm Suzie (38), DH is Ed (45 next month) two DD's, Victoria/Tori will be 6 next month, and Ameera (20 months). We had kids late in life. I quit work after 15 years (where I met DH), went on vacation the next week to the new AKL and came home pg! The best Little Disney Souvenir ever!!!See, it only takes quiting work to get pg!! LOL!.....probably more information than you ever wanted to know about me...sorry!

This is our third DCL cruise. We're now spoiled and will not cruise on anything else!! We're Disneyaholics with my most recent trip last week being my 34th, DH's 31st, Tori's 23rd and Ameera's 5th! We have trips planned for August (thank you free dining!!) and of course after the cruise in November.

I'm a SAHM but do the books for our company and one of the properties we manage. We're branching out into International deals and getting another company off the ground. It will involve working with the African government and trying to modernize some of the villages over there (hence the name Modern Village project). We just hosted a family from Africa to come over the past few weeks to meet with them after Ed's partners met with them in Africa last February. Fingers in many pots right now and it's all exciting!!!

No animals anymore. We had a dog for 14 years but had to put him down almost 4 years ago now. We suspect he had cancer but knew he had cataracts and some other things. It was a very sad day and I still can't bear the thought of getting another dog. He was my baby for a very long time.

I met DH 20 years ago when we both worked for the same moving company. We will be married 18 years this November. Hard to believe we've been together more than half my life.

I thinks that enough of a novel for now!!! I could go on and on but won't. We're looking forward to meeting everyone. I really don't have any recent pics of all of us - haven't gotten my Photopass CD yet from last weeks trip yet!! I will post one when my friend gets a CD to us, hopefully soon.

Feeling much better today - the antibiotics are kicking in!! BUT I'm still exhausted and bed is calling me. Late night last night and too much running around today is making me a very sleepy girl!

Night everyone!

Dana - I agree with Woody that it makes more sense to just do name tags for those who want them - but how expensive will the lanyards be if we order less? But talk about a great way to entice the lurkers out of lurkdom :thumbsup2 !!

Okay - here's my "new" introduction...drum roll please... :rockband:

Hi! My name is Valerie and we're booked to do this cruise with you! :cool1: We're from Canada - the province of Newfoundland and Labrador actually (I always forget to add the "Labrador" part - sorry to that half of our province!). This is our 2nd Disney Cruise, and my 3rd cruise over all. In our family there's me (42 - still find that hard to believe, but that's what my birth certificate tells me ;) !), Brian (38 - yes, I robbed the cradle :lovestruc !!), Alex (11), and Adam (9). I am a huge Mickey/Disney fan, and the researcher/planner of the family - hubby just shows up where and when I tell him! (Too bad I only seem to have that power when it comes to vacations!) We also have a dog named Jessie - and he looks like a minature Golden Retriever. Really looking forward to the cruise, and meeting you all!

Valerie

Dizzi- what are the new policies on the cruise that you are refering to? Can kids still be in their clubs unlimited? No more pagers? No more check in check out? Is it still secure?

Ok, OK, I'll bite. I am Cheryl and this will be our 4th cruise on DCL, the last being an Eastern in Feb 2008, which was fantastic.:yay: We were hooked after doing the Land & Sea in 2004 and can't wait for the new ships with new itineraries! popcorn:: :earboy2: We are also DVC members, and have used both points and $ for the cruise in the past, and plan on rebooking while onboard. I have been a "lurker" on DIS for several years now, bordering on DIS LURKER Maniac! :) We did book this cruise in 2006 and changed it once, last year, so we did book a while ago.

I don't anticipate posting much, but remaining a "lurker" as we look forward to some family time during the week, but I may add or ask some stuff from time to time.

I am anxious to hear what everyone thinks the different nights will be, so that I can pick a good Palo night for dinner. I'm thinking that formal night will be Monday and Pirate Night wednesday, based on the other western itineraries, feel free to chime in! :happytv:

Has anyone done the Island tour and snorkel with the stingrays in GC? We (me and DH) would love it, but we were wondering if DS (9) will be ok with the stingrays off the boat?

Looking forward to 4 months from Now! :dance3: :yay:  :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

I am going to seperate my posts~~

As far as the lanyards go... I hear ya Woody. I am going to look up the prices on a lower number and get back to everybody later this week. The original quote was for 250. Not quite enough for everyone.

The change in kids clubs is an experiment that disney is doing for the summer. It may not effect us but better to be prepared for it. The age groups have been rearranged. the 11-13 y.o. will be in ocean's quest. The 13's will not go to stack. Ocean quest kids will be able to sign in and out on their own. I believe there are pagers but staff is not required to have the kids sign out. Just set the rules now for your kids. If you want them to stay put or page you start preparing now by laying down the rules.

As far as GC, my TA said the snorkel and sting ray is an excellent excursion. I am not sure about young kids tho.

Dana

Here is our little bio....

I am Dana. This our 2nd DC. I have recently come over to the Disney Addict side of life. This is only my 4th trip. I discovered the Disboards last year before our first cruise much to the dismay of DH :rolleyes1
I am 38 (gulp) Geoff,DH, is 37. We have been married for 16 years. We have 2 children who are Kyle ,13, and Christina,9.
We live in a very small town about an hour west of Chicago, Illinois. Geoff and I have managerial jobs that can keep us pretty busy at different times of the year. I am a nurse and Geoff is in public works.
So we truely enjoy our time off. We like to spend time with our kids and friends. And definately enjoy meeting new people like all of you!

Dana

When will you be down in Aug?? I would love to have a pre cruise meet with you guys!!!! We are staying at Fort Wilderness Aug 1st -18th. But we live very close to Disney so any time you in town would be great.

Well that gives me idea. How many of you are coming down early? Maybe we could do a pre-cruise meet at DTD of something.

I have never swam with sting rays in GC but have done the castaway rays sting ray encounter 2X . It is very mellow and perfect for anyone who is afraid of the sting ray barbs. My family loves it so much they would like to do it again this trip. I think we should try something new. Feel free to come out of luker mode when ever you like;)

Not sure if this helps but in 2005 I did a tour and swim/ snorkel with sting rays. I loved it but there were a lot of people who were scared to death, my mother included. Where they take you is a little over waist deep, and its pretty safe. They were everywhere, swimming up your body, in between your legs it was truley a good time. That said it is not for everyone. I had some people climbing up me to get away from them, and I'm only 4'10 so LI'm sure you can imagine what that was like. The water was about chest deep on me. I think your Son will be fine if he likes adventure. It is something you all will remember for a life time thats for sure. hope I was of some help.:)

We will be in Orlando the week before the cruise - arriving on the 18th. It would be great to have a pre-cruise meet at DTD during that week - our hotel is very close to DTD. We are already planning to meet up with HelenSB and family for MNSSHP on 24th October. Is anyone else likely to be going to MNSSHP on the 24th?

Ooooohhhh this is getting very exciting! :yay: :yay: :yay:

And I am yet another 40-something Disney addict! :hippie:
