PADisney-

You get your bags and go up the elevator and check in at the desk. Your rooms overlook the food court area's/security. Its not a good view but its a fun view. You can watch all the people coming and going.

I can't comment on the restaurants since we didn't try them. The first time we got in late from a night at the Magic Kingdom and got some room service. It was good but I had fallen asleep and woke up so I don't remember much but the french fries!

The second trip we got in late (around 10pm) and just grabbed a bite at McDonalds at the food court. We did the same thing the next morning before the van picked us up.

You can easily head down to the food court at the airport and get anything you want.

And I thought the rooms were very quiet. You didn't know you were in an airport at all.

DCL Poem (inspired by 'Twas the night before Christmas)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

First, some background:
As of yesterday, DW and I have been married 10 years. We honeymooned at BC, and have visited several times since. To celebrate our 10th, we're going on an Eastern later this month. (we've met a lovely bunch of DISers to spend time with on the cruise) One of the things I do sometimes is make up short poems for DW, or change the lyrics of a song to surprise her or make her smile. So, I'm working evening shift on Tuesday, and headed to the cafeteria for dinner when it happens...I started to think of the poem 'Twas the Night Before Christmas. But, I was already changing the words to make them slightly applicable to our upcoming cruise. So, on Wednesday night (at home) I printed off the actual poem and went to work. Now, I don't think I match perfectly by any means, but the result made DW smile quite broadly. After she made me read it to her a second time, she agreed that it might be something to share here. So, without further delay, here it is:
(house lights dim)

'Twas 2 weeks 'til our Eastern

'Twas 2 weeks 'til our Eastern, and all through the house
A small creature was stirring, it must be my spouse.
Both clothing and shoes were laid out with great care,
In hopes that our packing day soon would be there.

Does she need a sweater?
Does he need a cap?
Do we need strong sunscreen for our Castaway Cay nap?

Out on the porch with 'nary a clatter,
Was something of import to this DCL matter.
The sun was quite bright on this October Tuesday.
I went out for the mail to see something in my way.

Brought by a brown truck, so silent and quick,
I saw from the address-it was from the Mick!
Oh Checklist, oh luggage tags, oh cruise docs and all!
It was for the Eastern we're on this fall!

Clothes were on our guest bed from headboard to foot,
And for Pirate Night, a pair of black boots.
A cruise box with goodies lay on the floor,
Filled to the max, and waiting for more.

Her eyes they now twinkle, this Wife that I married,
All still to be done, its really quite scary.
Like Pirate Night costumes from she who can sew,
But we've got a plan, and will be ready to go.

She's smiling and happy, this wife of myself.
We've got to keep packing, and stay in good health.
We've done on-line forms, and our paperwork,
And now our excitement is starting to perk.

For our 10th anniversary, I'll give her no rose,
A 7-night Eastern is what she and I chose.
We'll kayak in St Thomas, play with stingrays,
Shop in St Martin, -have Palo two ways.

And when our Moon Eastern is sadly done,
We'll look back and say, "that sure was great fun!"

I hope you enjoyed it,
Sean

I am just north of you by about an hour and a half or so. I live right by the Vero Beach Disney Resort on A1A. Do you have children coming with you? My DD will be 11 and my DS will be 8.

OOHHHHHHH how cool!
ME and Dh plan on going this SUmmer with NO KIDs if we can get a room....We have DVC points to use while kids are away!

My DD will turn 12 just before the cruise! OCt 23!!!!!

And My DS will be 15.

Hello all! Just trying to catch up on all the posts!

Very glad all are safe
Very glad storms didn't affect you
Very much loved the poem (my DH does something similar, creates kind of R-rated xmas carols that make me laugh on long holiday road trips to L.A. when the kids are asleep in the back)
Very tired from work and volunteer meetings yesterday, stayed up WAY too late last night just laughing with my Junior League girlfriends.

Is anyone from CALIFORNIA??? :cool1: Or maybe we're just nuts to fly so far. The West Coast cruise simply isn't of interest....no Castaway Cay...'nuf said.

I haven't booked our flights yet, it is SO hard to get from West to East on a reasonable time schedule. We may suck it up and do a red-eye, arrive early Sat am and go doze in the terminal until boarding time!

I've made my first two cruise specific purchases...a fun pirate ship patterned t-shirt and super cool vintage pirate charm bracelet (I LOVE ebay). My girls are online shopping for their formal dresses (again, LOVE ebay! I have no time or energy for real stores, even though the biggest mall around is ten minutes away). I was hoping for red but they both want gold (ai-yi-yi). That's okay, it will still make a cute Xmas card photo...and it's all about the photos.

Speaking of photos...which leads us to scrapbooking...I did see there are a bunch of scrapbookers on our thread! Does anyone do digital scrapbooking? I've taken up using Photoshop Elements and am in love with it.

Goodnight, all! Happy Friday!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'Twas 2 weeks 'til our Eastern

This was great!

I just spent 3 hours arranging and rearranging MY NEW FURNITURE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

But i think it is complete NOW!

now i just have to paint and make curtains and make pillows and purchse soemthing for on the wall and get some more rugs for floor and recover 2 small chairs and that should about complete my new living room!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just popping in to say HEY!!!!!!!!!!!!

been very busy with my Living room but looks like we have all been busy as i was the last one to post anyway!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:yay: :dance3: :laundy: :flower3: :cheer2:

I just booked a 1 bedroom and a 2 bedroom at the Boardwalk for the 3 days leading up the cruise!

:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

It feels more real now!

OH ANIELLE.........THAT IS AWESOME!!!!!!Wish i had some reservations to make already!!!!!!

We dont know what we are going to do yet before the cruise.

Last years we went to Orlando for 2 1/2 days. And we did MNSSHP!!!
That was a BIG highlight for me!!!! REALLY enjoyed it we did it with a Dis group .

As we do not plan to tell the kids we are going on a cruise until we get there we are not sure how we plan to pull that off yet.:confused3 :confused3

We were at WDW this past Halloween and we went to MNSSHP and it was awesome except it rained something awful. I hope we can do it again this trip.

I am kind of bummed about the rooms too. I am a DVC member and I didn't think I had enough pts for the rooms because we were going to stay 4 or 5 days. Then yesterday I found out we really could only do 3 days. When I called to make the ressies all the Boardwalk Views were gone. I could have called a month ago and probably got them. I am bummed but we will be in Disney!:woohoo:

We have surprised our kids twice. Once with a trip to WDW and then last April on our first Disney Cruise. They had no idea at all. We had a 1pm flight and we dropped them off at Grandma's, went home and packed so fast and then picked them up. We walked in and told the 2 kids to get in the car we were going somewhere and I handed them Door Magnets someome from the DIS designed for me. They can't read, but they saw the Mickey and the Ship and got excited but still were confused. As we were driving to the airport we told them we were going on the Disney cruise and they flipped. It was so great.

I wanted to wait until we got to the port but I think the suspense would have killed them and we had left 1 day earlier to make sure we wouldn't miss the ship.
