Well back from Marathon weekend at disney, it was amazing, DH and I have our medals and are wearing them proud. Weather was beautiful, I even got a sunburn. However, back to reality and snow.

Off to get ready for work, will check back later.

Kim

Kim,
Did you do the full marathon? I think sometime DW and I will do the family 5k. Better than nothing. Perhaps a 5k around here, first.
I've taken tomorrow off to prepare for my own sporting event. I'm a competitive shooter, and have a tournament this weekend. Actually, its Friday. This match attracts so many competitors (over 200), it spreads out over 3 weekends in January. All skill levels, up to and including Olympic gold medalists. In its own way, it is a community, like the DIS. So, I need to plan my meals (each of the 2 events is about 3 hours), prep my equipment, and select my ammunition (like choosing a fine wine, as sometimes even different lots of the same product produce different results).

PLEASE TELL US MORE ABOUT YOUR VACATION AND MARATHON!!!!!!

We need information to keep us going.

Kind of like batteries for the energizer bunny!!!!!!!!!

Where is everyone planning on staying the night prior to the cruise? We are coming in on Friday, but I have not decided where I want to stay yet. Right now, I am thinking either Cocoa Beach or Port Canaveral but have not made up my mind on anything yet.

Arlene - I am about an hour east of Nashville...not too far from you!

We are undecided depending up on what we decide to do either MNSSHP or not>>>>>

If we do MNSSHP.we will stay on property most likely ALL STAR.

If we do not do MNSSHP we will stay some where in Cocoa Beach!!

We have gone to MNSSHP the past few years. I thought about that because I don't know if I can be that close to WDW and not go, but my DH had rather take the more relaxed option and stay near the port.

I am hoping to go to MNSSHP at some point in the days before the cruise, but we plan to move to Cocoa Beach the day before so that we can watch the ship come in - does anyone know what time the ship actually comes into port, and how far is Cocoa Beach away from the terminal? We have so many things to sort out yet such as flights from the UK, and we are uncertain of dates etc at the moment, but my hope is to have about 2-3 days in Orlando prior to the cruise, and we will stay somewhere which is walking distance from Downtown Disney - we need a suite ( 6 people ) so staying onsite is not really an option unless we book two rooms and that puts the cost way up, so Lake Buena Vista is a good alternative.

I am unable to make any plans until the very last minute as my father is suffering from cancer :sad1: and we may have to postpone the cruise if things go downhill :sad1: :sad1: , so I am unable to book any flights until we know what is happening.

So sorry to hear about your dad. Cancer is such a horrible, horrible disease. Lots of prayers and pixie dust to you and your family.

Sean: We only did the 1/2 it is our 2nd one. Good luck at your tournament this weekend!!!!

Lynn: Marathon weekend was great, we were only there for a short time, in Thursday morning and left Monday morning but we made the most of our time, went to expo Thursday and met up with some WISHer teamates, then some of us headed over to ESPN and the brewery for food and drinks. Friday, we hit the outlet plaza, early to bed Friday night as we where up at 2AM for the 1/2 great event, DH and I did it together, didn't go out too fast spent alot of time taking photos along the route, up early again Sunday cause we volunteered for the full marathon...WOW those people are amazing. Hit Concorse Steakhouse for dinner Sunday night, have to admit I wasn;t impressed, don't think I would go back. Early flight home Monday to snow. That is pretty much it in a nutshell but boy did we have a great time.

We are arriving Friday and hitting the parks that day only, not MNSSHP we have done that twice, then just stay at one of the values, DS wants to stay at Sports and head over to the port Sat morning.

How is everyones weightloss going??? Sorry I have't had a chance to update the weightloss thread but I should get a chance today.

Kim

We have only done MNSSHP once and if it wasnt for the dinner we did i probablly woudl not do it again.
But the dinner was one of the highlights of my vacation. So we may have a go at it one more time...........
Maybe that will be our out for the kids and the costumes........."we are going to MNSSHP!"
And then they wont wonder why i am making costumes............HECK I COULD SAY THAT EVEN IF WE DONT GO!!!!!
Cuz they wouldnt care if we didnt go if we get on the SHIP!!!!!!!!

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: LOVE IT WHEN A PLAN COMES TOGETHER!!!

Well, it is official. We are going down on the 10/23 and staying at BWV then after the cruise we are going back to BWV and staying til Fri. I am so happy. My birthday is the 24th so we will be at my favorite place for it.

We're going to go down the night before (after Tori gets out of school, hopefully) and stay at the hotel in the airport. We've heard good things about it and decided just to hang out there with our good friends!!!:surfweb:
Then after the cruise, we're staying at AKL because that's where the older girls wanted to stay. They've never been and Abby has only been to Disney with me last August. Isa has never been. We'll be staying just til the 4th because I don't want to keep Tori out of school any longer than we have to. Isa and Abby are both home-schooled by their mom so they don't have any restrictions.

No MNSSHP party for us. We had a really bad experience once and I promised myself never again. Mostly my fault because we got tickets for Halloween night, with my blonde self thinking that the locals would be ToT'ing in their neighborhoods....silly me! Worst experience ever, trust me! But I'm sure it's a lot like the Pirate and Princess Parties that we absolutely ADORE! SO much fun we've been to two!!! Closed the parks down and our car the only one in the area of the parking lot when we got there! (wish I could find that picture again, it's hysterical!)...

Hey, Sue! Good to hear from you! I'm gonna call you soon, I PROMISE!!! Gotta get Trish on here and see how she's doing!!! Give Jon a hug from us!pirate:

Hey, check out the new site agraygirl set up! Thanks, Arlene!

We finally applied for our passports and so now I can start planning and getting excited about the trip. I have been trying to keep everything low key so I wouldn't get "bored":rotfl::lmao: with the planning.

Tonight we discovered that HSM 3 opens on Oct 24 and all my DD's could do was jump up and down at the thought of watching it on the ship. DH and I are placing bets on how many times they will go to the theater that week.

Yup, we're gonna hang with you guys! The Hyatt is pretty nice, for what we were able to see of it. We got to know the airport mall pretty well, though. I dragged the poor Pirate through every inch of it.

Some people are organized and put the stuff they need for the first day in one bag. That's not us. Ooooohhh nooooo, I look through every one of our bags and I can't find my makeup. None. Nada. No foundation, no moisturizer, not even a lint-covered tube of year-old chapstick. So I drag the Pirate through the mall. We are on a quest. Do they have a Lancome store? No. Chanel? Nope. I can't even find a Mary Kay lady. Nada nada nada. I beg the Pirate to take a taxi to Nordstrom's. No, he has this irrational notion that Nordie's is gonna be closed (by now it is 10pm). The best we can find is the Disney store and he has the gall to suggest that if it's good enough for Minnie, it's good enough for me. So we head back to the hotel, where he can put some ice on his swollen eye. :-)

So the next day I drag him to the ship's store, and then I drag him all over St. Martin, and we buy outrageously priced makeup under the delusion that it must be cheaper. But it doesn't really matter because I'm putting it on plastic and everyone knows that's not real money.

Then, on the last day when we are packing to come home... I look in one of the suitcases, and there is a little zipper I never noticed before. And there sits my little makeup bag. Oops.

So I did what any honest, self-respecting wench would do. I zipped it back up and never said a word. Shhhh..... So, yes we know the mall very, very well.

I am excited today  - my fabric has arrived for making my fish extenders - we are going with a pirate theme pirate: - now all I have to do is work out how to make them!!!

I am also intrigued with the idea of scrapbooking, as this is something I have never done, but it appears to be very popular amongst the DIS community. I might attempt to give it a go when we cruise. Unfortunately I wouldn't know where to start, so do any of you scrapbookers have any tips?

Thanks!:goodvibes

Hi Arlene,

We live in Bristol - on the Virginia side - but still the same area. We love the area too! Small world. :goodvibes

I have to laugh because I saw this at first and thought, WOW! They live near us! Then I realized it was BristoL not BristoW!!!! Bummer! Thought we had "neighbors".....

I would have happily taken a taxi with you! Makeup is a girl's best friend, donchaknow? LOL!!!

We got our passports back in 9 days after applying (applied for renewals on the 20th and got them on the 29th)! But it took about the same amount of time for the girls first time passports...even less for one of them - about 7 days for Abby's. I was so happy that it didn't take long! I worry so when things are out of my hands....control freaks unite!

Where did you read about HSM 3 opening?! Tori will be just too excited! She loves those movies! Cracks me up that a 5 year old can watch these movies...but hey, they're harmless.

Brrrr...expecting snow today and I can feel it....my warm bed is calling me back! See what happens when you go to the computer in the morning to check the school schedule?! Geez, I end up on the cruise chat board....

I heard about HSM3 on the local news then googled it and MTV had some news. It will be released to theaters first before Disney Channel.

We had ice and snow overnight and alot of the schools around us closed but we still have school today.

I feel like a kid to say this, but I hope there's no school tomorrow! We have a three day weekend already with the holiday (Martin Luther King day on Monday) but would love a four day weekend!

I miss family time with all the stuff going on with my dad (been in the hospital since October) and with us having the stomach flu this week (yes, even Ameera). Things have been crazy (hence my lurking abilities here!) and would really love some "down" time.

Going to the hospital today to visit now that we're all healthy. Dad's vent was taken out yesterday so he's alert and talking now. I can't remember who, but totally understand what the person is going thru with their dad's cancer.

Okay, enough sob story... did someone post last years Navigators from this trip? I know Virginia had put a schedule up on the private site but didn't know if it was updated.

Alright, enough putzing around here...gotta help the kid get ready for the school bus.

Good morning fellow cruisers!!!! 40 weeks today and I will be enroute to Orlando!!!!!

Arlene, the weight loss thread is on the WISH boards, sorry I haven't updated it in a while I am just been so swamped with just coming back from Disney and I have a cruise 7 weeks today!!!!!!!
