We finally told the kids about the cruise last night! Another couple we know, and their two kids, booked to come on this cruise :yay: , and their kids know. That gave us the excuse we were looking for, and we couldn't keep the secret any longer! The expression on both DS's faces when they realized what we were saying was absolutely priceless. Am going to send that other family the link to this thread - hopefully she'll join in :goodvibes

The interesting thing about this family is that even though they live very near us, we actually met them on our last Disney Cruise, on the last day waiting in the WD Theatre to get our passports. They recognized DS10's Fog Devils hat (a local hockey team). We travelled back on the same flights, and when our DS threw up in customs  he and their DS stood off to one side and laughed at everyone who didn't see the mess and walked through it . You've got to love 9 year old boys :rotfl2:

Can't believe we're finally less than a year away :cheer2:

Hi there!!!!
Last time we cruised DCL we had late dining and it was terrible for the kids cause most of the teens had early dining.
Kim
We had late seating last time and doing it again this time
DS said that most of the teen club had early seating , but it did not bother him ,

Good morning my fellow cruisers!!!

Ulittletinker: Love the website you did a awesome job. Are any of the kids chatting?? I will get DD to sign up probably on Sunday I think that is the first day we are all in the same room for more then 10 mins, busy weekend coming up.

JNS: Thanks, glad to know she won't be alone, last DCL cruise we had to force the kids to eat with us they just loved hanging out at the stack so much, they really liked the staff as well.

NewfieMom: Hey there my fellow Canadian:hug: My dad was born in NFLD, Bay Roberts is where he is from.

I started making my door decorations last night.....do we really have 11 months to go:confused3

Taking my DS to a Ottawa Senators hockey game tomorrow....5 hour drive there, 2 - 3 hour game and 5 hour drive back:scared1: but Sens have always been his fav team and this is one of his Christmas presents.

Better get ready for work. Have a awesome day everyone!!!!

Kim

Thank you both for the responses. We have just changd our ressie from the 4 night land and sea to this cruise. DD is very happy to hear there will be teens for her to hang with. She loved the Stack, I think she spend the entire cruise there.

Helen, I have family in Weston-Super-Mare, which I believe is somerset....I think:confused:

Kim

Hi Kim,
Weston-Super-Mare is only about an hours drive West of here, on the coast.
Does your daughter use MSN Messenger to chat to her friends?? If so, my daughter is already in contact with some other teen cruisers & yours is very welcome to join in if she would like to!! Just PM me & I'll give you the details. Time differences may mean they can only chat at weekends, though!!

Helen that would be awesome, I will get DD's MSN info and PM it to you.

Great news, well for me anyways. DH and DS are coming with us. They where going to do some golfing and stuff in Florida while we where on the cruise but they have decided after hearing me talk endlestly about Palo they decided to come.

So please amend my family on the roll call to
Mike 45
Kim 42
Kevin 19
Kaitlyn 16

Thanks

We did late dining last cruise(Our 1st ever!) & we LOVED it!
So its late for us next time too..It's much nicer not having to rush from our days out & chill in our room or catch a show before dining. DS just went on to club after dinner. He will be able to use The stack next time too so he is really excited at that!

DS Ryan chats to friends on MSN so he'd be up for chatting too if anyone wants to. He's 13 now & will be 14 in May next year.He did try our Halloween site but not many chatting there when he looked in!

I'v just won 2 tickets for a trip to Paris on Eurostar so think we will be getting a Disney 'Fix' sometime in the New Year to Disneyland Paris..Just trying to decide with or without the kids!!

Bumping this up
we are down to page 2

hope everyone has a good weekend

Hey Kim,

Great to see someone else from Canada on the board! My husband's mother is from Carbonear, so we drive through Bay Roberts on a regular basis - or at least we did until his parents moved to Fort MacMurray with the rest of the NFLD population!

We had early dining last time, booked it again for this one - and although it's a bit of a hassle having to get ready early, it worked for us. The boys were both so well behaved, it was worth it. Another couple who went with us for that trip had kids the same age (8 & 6) and they didn't get through a meal without a meltdown - they had late dining. With DS6 (then) ready to crash by 10 every night, late eating would not have worked - unless we put them in the club each night, which would also not have worked with DS6 - he was not fussy about the club. We're hoping that will be different this trip.

Valerie

Good SUnday morning my fellow cruisers!!!

Congrats on winning the trip to Paris that is wonderful!!!!

Valerie: DSIL leaves near Fort McMurray also and she always tells me if I am ever homesick for my relatives from NFLD just come out and visit them here in Alberta:lmao:

Thanks for all the input on your dining choices, I guess we are stuck with late but are waitlisted for early but witht he ages of my kids Ithink they will put families with younger kids early which I do understand but my fingers are crossed:thumbsup2

Is it time to pack yet??? Can we go?????

Hope you are all having a awesome weekend!!!!

Kim

Morning everyone
well we have just signed up to the new Health center in our area starting tomorrow , need to get fit and in shape and loss some weight for our cruise next year
The plan is to go 3 or 4 mornings a week after I leave the kids at school

Congrats Jackie on joinning the gym. I too am in the quest for a healthier lifestyle. I am currently training for the disney 1/2 marathon and believe it or not it does not help you lose weight, but once it is over, I will focus more on weightloss instead of carb fueling my body to get through this event. I have about 30 - 35 pds to lose, hopefull all by next Oct but I am also in a cruise in March...not disney:sad1: so to lose as much of that 30 - 35 by then would be awesome.

Kim

Wow so much has been said since I was last on here!

Well to start with, I would love to get to know any teens going on the cruise, so just PM me and I will add them on msn. I also have AIM if anyone uses that instead =)

I've just joined the gym too. I haven't got loads to lose, but I would just like to get rid of a few pounds for the summer and then the cruise! I'm already seeing clothes in the shops and thinking that I would love to wear something like that on the cruise!

Ooh it's December. The run up to Christmas has really started! Hehe! Unfortunately through most of the holiday while I am not at school I will be working to earn money so I can afford the cruise! Hehe! It sucks now, but it will be so worth it!

Kim
Good for you ,is this the first time to do it
we will be cheering you on from here :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Thanks Jackie, This will be my first 1/2 at Disney. I did one in Toronto in September...wow it was hard. I have done 2 events at Disney. I did the Minnie Marathon in May which was 15K and Tower of Terror run in October which was 13K and at night, that one was alot of fun.

Officially putting my deposit down today, however, since we added DH and DS to the ressie we are now under a guarantee so I don't know our cabin number....which I really would have liked to know but as long as I am on the ship all is good.

Kawaii: Congrats on joinning the gym, I hope you get alot of teens chatting, nice for you all to get to know each other as well before cruising.

Well off to work hope you have a great day all.

Kim

HOCKEY CHIC....Halloween costumes, we do not know BUT we are hoping to have something really cool! either for our family or for me and DH. i want to WIN!

As far as late dining, we had late dining on our first DCL and i dont see us doing it any other way. Seems like the way to go for us. Our children will be 15 and 12.

My 15 year old may want to chat a bit with some other people i will have him get on here and see!

I am sure DH and i will try our best to get to PALO as often as possible, we REALLY ENJOYED our DINNER, although i did not enjoy our BRUNCH as much, we did a BRUNCH with our DIS group it was nice, i was just still SEA SICK!

Good morning Halloween Cruisers!!!!!

Lynn, where was the wedding??? Wow you have a busy few months coming up.

My DD Kaitlyn has started a new thread maybe it will get the kids chatting, kinda early but it will give them a chance to get to know each other. She is as chatty as I am so it could be a long thread:lmao:

We got a boat load of snow over the last few days, and of course DS and DH are both working late all week so it was up to DD and myself to get it all done, fortunatley the neighbour came by with his snowblower and got the bottom of the driveway where the plow dumped all the snow done, but at least it is the light fluggy stuff so not too bad.

I will try and post a photo

Have a good day
