I see in your signature that you have already booked a DCl for OCT 09 which one did you decide on????

We were looking yesterday at the ones for OCT also, in 09 seems like a good time for us to cruise. we were loooking at a WESTERn and it starts on Oct 31 which kind of isnt good for halloween.

No the one we booked would be back Oct 31st. I believe it leaves on Oct 24 or 25th....can't remember

I know I can't believe I booked it but I wanted to go back east and that crusie just worked out for us.

I had to let you all know that in Florida we have been running above normal temps. Todays high is 80 and sunny.This time of year always makees me feel so lucky to live in central Florida.

Funny - this is the time of year when I miss being up north the most!! I wish it were colder around the holidays. Now - in February when everybody up North is shoveling and dealing with ice - I truly enjoy being here where it's warm!

I used to travel with my work....for several months at a time i would be different places opening up restaurants, and i went from ORLANDO FLORIDA, to CLEVELAND OHIO, in OCTOBER and i was there for a long time opening up 3 restaurants in that area....and you can imagine my surprise when i woke up one morning not being able to OPEN MY CAR DOOR due to ICE>>>>>>>>YUCK!

I couldnt believe what i had to go through to get those doors open.......

NO I DO NOT MISS THE ICE EITHER!

Is any body doing any kind of planning yet........
obviously plans will change from now until 10+ months from now.......

But my plan is tooo go as cheap as possible this cruise.

i dont think we are going to purchase any clothes, the only thing may be a jacket for DS for formal night if his has become too small by then. and Dd will want at least one new dress. I and Dh have plenty of stuff.

Other than that i think we will be good in all other departments.

I think our biggest pre cruise exspense will be what ever we diecide to be for Halloween.

As far as on board we plan to bring our own ALCHOHOL this time
I will try not to spend $100s in SHUTTERS

And i think we will go mildly on Excursions and souviniers


BUT HEY!!!!! it is early yet and i dont think about it much....HA who am i trying to kid!

I always try and go as cheap as possible!! I do buy new clothing esp for my daughter but I wait untill the stores are really looking to get rid of the summer stuff ,A great perk of cruising at the end of Oct. We always bring our adult beverages . My friends traveling with us from NY always put in thier requests. Last cruise I had a seperate suitcase for beverages DCL must have thought I had a serious problem. The funny part is my DH doesn't drink and I not a big drinker but when you are bring beverages for 10 adults

To me part of the fun of a vacation is planning so I have already started.

We are also "TRYING" to going cheap, we are going to Disney in January, 7 night cruise in March and then this one in Oct so have to budget. DH will bring his own beer, but I like the froo froo drinks, so up to the bar for me. We don't spend alot on photos anyways so that is a easy one.

We are going to teh Ruins in Costa Maya, so that will be 1 expense and parasailing on Castaway Cay, other then that we are gonig to Paradise Beach in Cozumel so that is only the cost of a taxi.

We are going to Disney on the Friday before the cruise and staying at one of the values.

I think that is all that is planned so far....oh wait, I already booked my car rentals

hockeychic...we have not even looked much for our excursions, but i think my DS will want to do the TEEN banana boat ride......which is only $12. Are you guys doing the MNSSHP on Firday before the cruise? that is what we did this past October, It was fun, but i dont think we would do it again, I LOVEd the Dinner we did at LTT but just do go in the park do do that dinner makes it a $200 dinner! WOW!
Do you all usually do 2 cruises a year? or is this a special occasion?

I like the froo froo drinks too, and i LOVE ALCHOHOLIC COFFEE DRINKS...so i will allow myself maybe one a day..............BUT we bring a little machine called a BULLET which is a VERY SMALL BELNDER makes one drink and i will grab soem ice and fruit from deck 9 and bring it back to room and add my own alchohol for some drinks to use by the pool. when my drink is gone i know it is time to get up and out of the sun for minute...LONG ENOUGH TO GET make ANOTHER ONE!

No we won't be doing MNSSHP, we have done it twice and just thought it was OK. We are just doing one of the parks that day, haven't decided which one.

No, we have only done 2 cruises in 1 year once before. This one just worked out that way. My very first night on a cruise was horrible and I swore I would never do it again, now I think It is a addiction. I love it.

Lynn, did you end up telling your kids about the cruise? I am sure they where so excited.

Well........

I am a bit frugal by default, I just can't help myself.

So some things I'll cheap it on.

We want to do cool excursions this time. The kids want one day at CC with the kids, the other hanging with us.

DH and I want spa time!

We're thinking of a dolphin swim and maybe jet ski rental?


I have enough on board credit already to cover gratuities and more, but will add to it with my Disney Dream Reward Dollars I've been hoarding, err, saving over the last year or so.

I want to bring my own alcohol on board too!

I wish DCL had frozen lemonade machines on board, self serve.


Frozen lemonade and Grey Goose?? MMmm!

Or frozen Coke and rum?? Mmmm!


Once things get settled here, I do need to get more organized for the cruise, especially as it looks like we'll be doing one in April too.


Ssshhh. We haven't told the kids yet.

I do not miss the cold at all. I figure if I start pining for snow, we can plan a visit to the relatives in New England for a long weekend, then scurry back to Florida!

I think my Ds realizes that we will be taking one soemtime in the next year....because we have been talking to him about what he wants to do for his GRADUATION present...........Even though he has 4 years,,,,,,we had been saving for a month in PARIS........but now he is thinking he just wanted to do a cruise a year until he cant use the STACK any more. HOPING TO GET A 15 night in there somewhere.

My DD is and has for YEARS lived in this amazing bubble where she doesnt even realize what is going on around her much at all.........Soemtimes i wish i could rent that bubble from her just for the day

Top of the mornin' to ya!! Did I say that right. My In-Laws are from Ireland and I get all these sayings wrong

This time of the year it is almost impossible to get everyone together at one time. Both my kids work in retail, well 1 full time and DD is a student so she only works a few days a week mostly weekends but this time of year they are both pretty busy with work and friends.

Lovable: Where will you be cruising to in April???? We go in March and it is western, I will it was east but dates just didn't work out.

Hi Everyone!
I have been away for a while as I have been busy getting costumes ready for a Disney themed birthday party we went to at the weekend.
The weather has turned really cold recently and I have had to put a picture of the Disney Magic as my wallpaper to cheer me up!
Great to see the kids now have their own thread - I will pass that on to my lot!
Now I am pre-occupied with shopping for the festive season - and it's really stressful! Help!!!!! But the good news is that now we only have just over 10 months to go until the cruise !!!!!!

Sorry.....ALLIE is my DD...i was scrolling though some thread the other day when her friends name showed up at the bottom of a post.........BECCA in big bold pink letters...it was a posters name of course........BUt her and her friend happened to be here looking over my shoulder, so long story short i ended up having to put my DDs name on the board just so they would shut up!
