October 25, 2008 Halloween on the High Seas (2)

Jenn,

Is the plan to still deliver the cards with the photo op info on them - to remind people of the place and time? You did such a great job doing them, I think it was decided to use them anyway - the reminder and as a souvie. We had volunteers who offered to help - will just need to look at the list and remind people. We could then distribute the cards at the meet to the volunteers to deliver as they get a chance. We'll just need a list of all the cabin numbers to share out.

Thoughts??

Valerie

I can still print them. No problem.

Can someone help me though (my brain is fried), I need some info....

The Photo Op is:

Tuesday, 10/28/2008 7:30 p.m. on the Deck 4 Forward Staircase

Did we also agree to do one in front of the WD Theatre (with a space in between us for Walt?)

Just so I can put both places on the cards...

Also, how many will I need to make?

I really cannot remember what we decided...

One spot for photos ... or two....

I will check out the roll call to see how many cards I need to make....

Kinda leads me to the QOTD:

Who plans on doing a bulk of their packing this weekend?

I have a head cold and called in sick today. I took Monday off to pack, but will attempt to do more here and there between noseblowings and such.

Planning to complete paperwork, print off remaining magnets, and pack everything we won't need to use in the upcoming week. MIL and FIL fly in on Thursday afternoon.

Still need to put fresh sheets on the spare bedroom bed, order birthday decorations and Halloween surprises from DCL, get antibiotics for the crud, take and pick up Mr Schnauzer from the groomer, and more.

I also hauled the suitcases into the house to start cramming, err, packing!

QOYD:
I had all intentions of packing this weekend, But now Saturday I have a bachelorette Party and Sunday (after recovering from my hangover:eek:  ) we are having 3 other couples and their children for dinner. Now I have to move my butt today to clean the house for company. I would say at least my house will be cleaned but after 7 children plus my 3 spend the day here Sunday it will be beyond trashed!!!

Oh well, that's life!!! So now I hope that my Packing will be done by Wed.

I emailed Disney just to confirm shipping rules (and yes, what we had was already correct; here's the info from Disney:

I was envious of those who had already left on vacation, then I glanced at my "to-do" list, the empty suitcases, the half assembled FE, and decided that maybe it wasn't so bad that I had a bit more time to get things done.
Although, if I had left yesturday-wouldn't this already have been packed???

Hey, we're leaving Monday AM to go to WDW before our cruise and are about at the same point. We are about 1/2 thru packing, no FE or FE gifts yet (we're shopping tomorrow supposidly), a to-do list 2.5 miles long......

Oh, and lets not forget our Sunday school class party that my wife decided to have tonight (she thought we'd be packed and have everything ready - you think she'd know by now that's not the way it works with 5 kids:laughing:), the company picnic tommorow :upsidedow , or the 'haunted' hayride tomorrow night :scared1:.

Oh well, I guess we can give up sleep for the next three nights :coffee: and get it all done. Of course, I'M REALLY EXCITED TO BE GOING IN ONLY THREE DAYS!!!!! :cool1: BRING ON THE VACATION:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Sonny, you're weekend sounds a bit like ours - until I had to say NO (an y'all don't know how hard that was for me!!)!

Have a great time at WDW and we'll see y'all on the ship!:woohoo:

O.K. I am about 3/4 finished on both pirate outfits and Halloween costumes.:thumbsup2 Since we are a family of 4 that means everyone is good to go except me:rolleyes1 . This a.m. as DH was organizing what to pack, he says... oh yeah I guess I need to pack _______ (insert part of Halloween costume). Note this was said with NO excitement!! Is anyone else experiencing the "I'll dress up if I have to" attitude??:headache: Please... someone reassure DH that he will not be the only gentleman "dressed" for Halloween:cool2:

This time next week we all better be aboard:cool1:   :dance3: :dance3: :woohoo:

To throw a wrench into everyone's magnet printing, if anyone is interested, here's the website for the door ears, bows, and hats!

http://disney-stationary.com/ears-bows-hats.php

Just make sure you download them in FULL size (double click on the one you want then the new screen comes up and THEN save/download it!).

Thanks, Stefanie for the reminder!!!

Sorry, we're the party poopers. Love dressing the kids, but not us. Last time Ed dressed up as anything it was an ugly blonde housewife with a cigarette hanging out of her mouth mask in my pink fuzzy bathrobe! The chest hair coming out the nightie and robe was just not pretty. Hence, never dressing him up again!!! Oh, I was a pretty pirate wench....back then I could get away with it!!!

My hubby will be dressed up for both Halloween and Pirate night - as will friends of ours who will be dining with us (early seating). But hear your fears - I've been dreading him - for that matter us! - being dressed up and no one else!

Valerie

I need to re-back to catch up but I just realized my son doesn't have a suit yet! I was going to order it but its too late now. Guess I'll be searching this weekend!

Me and the kids have a group costme planned. I will also dress up at the adult Halloween party. Chris (dh) is on the fence. Pirate night, Kayla has an outfit--from our last cruise. The boys have skull t-shirts and that is one that me and dh skip. We'll don the DCL bandanas, but that 's it. I do love seeing everyone's pirate outfits though!!pirate:

If I understand correctly, you all are saying it is okay to bring your Disney refillable mugs from your past cruise and/or WDW to use again? Do you still have to purchase them or did Disney discontinue that system and now soft drinks are free? The last time we cruised was 2000 and we had to buy the cups to get soft drinks. Milk, water and juice were always free. Thanks to anyone you can answer!

My understanding is that at dinner and at the self-service on deck 9 soft drinks, milk, juice are free. If you order at the bar or room service you have to pay for them. This is our first Disney Cruise so I'm not sure if I am correct.

You've got it correct. Free soda on deck 9 and at meals; charge for drinks delivered to your room (I think they are canned/bottled).

And they do want you to use a new cup each time; no refilling and saving the landfills.

I'm thinking of taking something large enough to hold a beverage when I go to the theater for movies; not necessarily insulated, maybe a plastic cup from Steak-n-shake or a football game.

The precautions (hand wipes before meals, using new cups at the drink station) is to help prevent another breakout of the Norwalk virus on a Disney ship. Click here for a CNN story.

Never thought about that. Seems smart to me! Thanks, Woody!

And in Topsiders, where you have an actual glass for water or soda, if you want a refill, they ask you to take a clean glass. They would not want you using your refillable mug there.

It sounds like a lot of people are going to try and get some packing done this weekend.

I wanted to provide a gentle reminder to pack with care, especially when it comes to items that could break.

I know that most people would pack breakables with care, but I think you have to be extra careful when packing items that you Won't be caring on the ship.

Last time we cruised, I looked out of the ship on boarding day. I saw them moving the luggage in these large bins (with fork lifts). They were about ten foot square bins, loaded to the top. If your stuff was on the bottom, there would be about a dozen suitcases on top of yours.

We had one accident with a broken dive mask (not the kids cheap ones, or my 20 year old one, but my DW's brand new one). I am just glad that the bottle of rum, didn't suffer the same fate.

RayRing is right about packing carefully.

It looks something like this.
