October 25, 2008 Halloween on the High Seas (2)

I have to ask if it's just my IL's or what.....

Ameera turns two on Thursday. She got two big flat envelopes from UPS today. As soon as I saw the return address I knew. Okay. Open them. Sure enough, gift certificates from my SIL/BIL and my MIL for Ameera. $50 each for American Girl.

Okay, really nice, but SHE'S ONLY TWO! She already has (and loves!) Bitty Baby. She doesn't change her clothes (barely knows how to put her own on!) so getting another outfit for Bitty is non-sensical.

What the heck do I do now? This is just such an unrealistic gift for her and the certs. have to be used within a year.

Some of you know my Webkinz thing. She got one for her 1st Christmas...Um, she was only 2 1/2 months old! The girl has/had three of them! See, unrealistic....nice but unrealistic!

Are my IL's the only ones that do stuff like this????

Okay, now to make the "Thank you very much" phone call.....:sad2:

NOPE! My IL's do the same darn thing! My oldest DD got a 4 wheeler for her 2nd b-day! :headache: It's stuff like that that really blows my mind:confused3 Oh well, what are we gonna do?

As far as things I'm gonna miss while gone:rolleyes: I guess it would be my 4 little boys (cats & dog) Alvin, Simmon, Theo & Hunter. Other then that there really isnt one thing I can think of.:rolleyes1

HI,

someone had mentioned a letter/excuse for school....would you be willing to share? What kind of excuses do they accept these days?

thanks

Okay, might as well do QOTD:

What, if anything, will you miss while you are on the cruise/extended vacation?

....The other thing I'll miss (and really miss after the cruise!) is chat nights.

NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! This is blasphemy! Sacrilige! Against the Dis Chat Addicts Code of Ethics!! Repeat after me....Chat will continue forever! Chat will continue forever! :rotfl2:

Seriously people?? Chat end?? NOT gonna happen! Forget about gift certificates having an expiry date - I didn't think our private website did! Anxiety attacks....shakes...hallucinations....panic...cold sweats...I can feel the withdrawal effects starting already..... Gotta wean me off people! I'll need a support group! Can't make me go cold turkey :scared: Wonder if our local detox has a dis chat program? I won't be able to do this I tell ya! I won't!

Valerie

I will my girls, Sassy, aka Our Mascot, Honey and Mimzy, my parents and my bed thats about it!

I WONT miss reality thats for sure!:rotfl2:

QOTD:

We also have PVR/DVR (I never know which to call it.....) so I won't technically miss anything while we're gone, but you do get into a routine with your favourite tv shows so vacation does break that, um, habit a bit..... :rotfl:

What I will definitely miss are my pets. I know they're in VERY good hands -- our son is housesitting while we're gone -- but I will still miss them. We have Terra, our 10 y.o. border colllie/lab cross, and Gizmo, our 10 y.o. cat. I'll find pix and post them :)

AND......

WE LEAVE ONE WEEK TODAY! WOOHOO!!
:dance3: :cheer2: :dance3: :cheer2: :dance3: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Okay, now that my meltdown is out of my system (temporarily, I am sure!) the QOTD...

1. (Missed this one!). Do you plan on going to the DIS meet? Nah - changed my mind on that - guess will start my 12 step program early and bow out of the festivities now - NOT!! Of course I'll be there! Can't wait to meet everyone in person :dance3: .

2. What will you miss... I will miss my brother's birthday (Oct. 29th), but even worse - will be away for my dad's 70th birthday  . His bday is the day we get back - by the time we get to the house, it will be officially the day after. REALLY hope my clueless brothers' :sad2: step up to the plate and don't let him spend the evening alone!

Will miss the dog - but he and Dad will keep each other company. Must see if have pic of him to post on here.

And will miss my favorite TV shows - for me, those are Grey`s Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, Amazing Race, and Brothers and Sisters. I know, sad, but true!

what will I miss most
THis Thread :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I should probably know this.... But, Mmmmmmm..... I don't.

Is the "Drink of the Day" - a 2 for 1 deal.

I ask because my DW and I mostly have wine with our meals on the cruise. But one night, on our last cruise, I ordered the Drink of the Day. I was surprised when our server brought two and ran off. I thought Mmmmm and had every intention of drinking both, until the second one was grabbed up by my DW. This was very dissapointing since my drink only lasted about 3 sips.

So, is the "Drink of the Day" - a 2 for 1 deal.

If so, are they only a "two fr" at the evening meal or all day long.
Are they a "two fr" on Castaway Cay.

I made a short list of things I failed to do last cruise, and don't want to make those mistakes again.

Just recently I thought. Hey, I never had an Adult beverage on Castaway Cay. WHAT WAS I THINKING ?
So this time around, there is a Frosty Drink in my Castaway Cay future.

Drink Recomendations are now being accepted.

I will not miss much except like everyone else, the TV. :happytv: The DVR will be busy getting Grey's Anatomy, Survivor, NCIS, Desperate Housewives, Brothers & Sisters and on, and on, and on.

I will also miss our dog, Tessa. But my sister, and her kids will be taking care of her. They are the best and I always miss them. :flower3:

My DH says he is going to miss the cold weather, . No actually he said there is nothing to miss cuz he is taking everything he loves with him. Ain't that sweet.

So, just watching the calendar and counting down till we leave! It's getting closer! :woohoo: :dance3: :woohoo: :dance3:

Just wanted to post, I feel so far behind ths thread is moving so fast lately...or is it me going slower???:confused3

Been a long day, long week, work is very busy.... how many more days till we leave anyway?

Not sure but lets see if I can remember

1. Will try to be at DIS meet! Of course.

2. What will I miss....Absolutely nothing!;) especially if it snows while we are gone! Even though I will dread going back to work and catching up.:headache: The hard part will be trying not to think about it while on the cruise. Couple of drinks of the day should take care of that!

Sounds like we all watch the same shows on t.v. everyone has listed many show I watch! I hope my DVR can hold everything:scared1: trying to clean it out as much as possible before cruise!

I am off to bed, which means one more day closer!:thumbsup2

single digits already!:thumbsup2 :cool1: I have 12 work days left..sounds so good.

Will I be at the DIS meet the first day? No...I just have all the laynyards which I plan on lugging around for the entire cruise. ;) Of course I plan on being there! I can't wait to meet all of you.

What will I miss? I am thinking.......have to say just my family. I am very close to my family. All of the pets will be spoiled by my dad while we are gone. No worries there. Chat? well not really cuz will have you all there with me :lovestruc

Suzie~~sorry can't help with the IL...my parents and IL have gotten over that stage. Actually they only did that once or twice and then they listened to me when I said they have enough toys...please give toward their college education with savings or savings bonds etc. This year MIL actually did something fun. Each child missed school on their B-day and went on a day get away into chicago. Well maybe that will help... tell them one small toy and then savings for college????

Just be sure to include many references to the cultural experiences, marine biology, maybe some discussion of various landforms for science...etc., etc.,:thumbsup2

No need to mention the cultural experience is witnessing adults dressed up like fairy tale characters and pirates wondering around ship enjoying the drink of the day:rotfl2: Also, don't tell them the marine biology most commonly witnessed are the kiddos in the Mickey pool:lmao:

pirate: pirate: pirate: pirate: pirate: pirate:

Will we be at the Dis meet on embarkation day?? OF COURSE! I can't wait to meet everyone.

Oh, Dana, ye of little faith....The unfortunate part is that we HAVE told them that. Then I get the lecture about "why did you sign the check, it's for them"....um, because they can't write at the time?! They're such an untrusting bunch at times....of course it's for my kids not me! It's a shame because normally they're a great bunch but when it comes to the M word (MONEY) they turn into creatures I've not seen before!!!

We decided last night to buy a Just Like Me doll and put it away til she's older and use some to buy Tori's Christmas gift from Ameera.

Jenn, we got reminder notices in the mail last year for Tori's gc's that they were coming up on expiration soon and we needed to use them. I've never heard of it being illegal - that's strange. I've even had some that if you didn't use them within one year they charged a penalty when you did use it (Macy's I think....been a while...)

SO that's our saga for the day. Back to your regularly schedule program......

QOTD:

Where do you want to be when we sail away? (On board the ship, I know but where on the ship?!)

I really liked being on the forward side of deck 10. So cool to see ahead of you but starboard side is pretty cool too. I LOVE to watch the people on shore! Waving like crazy; some people even have picnics on the lawn to watch the ship pull out. The end beach is really neat too and the dock there. I've never seen the fireboat that is supposedly there escorting the ship out but it's probably because I was too late to catch it - not sure where they take off.

Alot will probably be at the deck party area. I don't like crowds and get claustrophobic so I am a "fringe" person.....that's why I like deck 10 - can see and be involved if you want but not be "IN" the crowd......

I

Definately deck 10 for the sailaway party, I like to be on the side facing the terminal (is it port or starboard?) to wave as we leave.:wave2: :wave2: We all enjoy the dance party/sailaway festivities.:dance3: I can't wait to hear the horn blow again:banana:   To me the horn sounding is sort of the official ...ok we're really here...let the festivities begin.:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:
