October 25, 2008 Halloween on the High Seas (2)

Hello!!!

I'm Nicole, aka "Mama Glutton", I'm a harried (not hairy! LOL) multiple job working registered nurse, almost nurse practitioner living in Tampa, Florida with my husband, my 12 year old son, and turning 10 year old daughter.

If you PM me the cabin numbers, I'd love to pop goodies into fish extenders! I'm hyper! Of course I prepared too many! LOL

Anyway.................. welcome! The anticipation for this cruise is building to an unbearable level! My inlaws are coming too! Their first cruise!

Nicole, this is great! I think we can surely add in others that want to.....we just need to keep a list of who can and can't - due to how many gifts they've done, etc. (I know some people made/bought all ready according to their list.)

Okay - I seem to have become the Official Chat Secretary/Reporter. Here's the latest chat room update...

THIS IS FOR THOSE WHO MISSED THE FE AND TOT DEADLINES....

Without making any promises, we are trying to figure out a way to include all those who missed the cut off dates (or may have changed their minds and wished they'd signed up, I guess) in the FE exchange and/or the TOT. To do that, we REALLY need to get an idea of who would want to now join either/or of these special events.

If you are interested in joining the FE or TOT fun, please post your interest in which one, or both. We will need to know how many in your cabin and ages for the FE, and number/ages of children for TOT.

THIS IS THE LAST - DEFINITE - NO MORE CHANCES CALL FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST. PLEASE POST BY THIS FRIDAY, OCTOBER 3RD.

Again, the organizers of these events are not making any promises, but just trying to get an idea of numbers to see what options we can come up with.

Thanks everyone!

Secretary/Reporter of Chat ;)

I know, I know - really bright and bold - but wanted to make sure this post didn't get lost in the thread !!:lmao:

Thanks everyone for being open (or co-opted) into considering letting others play with us.

I was definitely in favor of an additional FE group among those who wanted to add on - apparently there is an abundance of love (and gifts) more than our assigned dozen cabins. And even exchanging within just a few cabins might be even more workable for some people - I am already trying to figure how I can get all my stuff down there. I did find the instructions on shipping ahead. One 12x12x12 box per cabin - at least we have 2 cabins. One box is completely full already. Might have to spread things throughout the girls' suitcases (and make them take extra luggage if they haven't reached their airplane/cruise allowance).

Hey, just think, we could have been crazy like the Panama Canal group and had 144 cabins to do.

Can someone PM me the sign-on for chat? I might get daring and jump in. Never done any chat rooms.

sorry for my absence lately, my grandma passed away Sept. 22nd and all of my energy has been focused on coping with that. She helped raise me. I miss her bad. :sad1:

In happy news we got Kieran's (DS9) costume done anyone wanna guess what he is going to be?:rotfl:

There is no room in our suitcases for a tux for DH and DS. We may just hide in our rooms that night and order room service.:confused3
Okay I know a few of you are waiting on me to update the website. Please PM me!! I'm freaking out I'm so far behind.

Hello everyone..
I really haven't been on the Dis since I had to cancel our cruise
I just wanted to drop by and say hello. It is really hard knowing that in less then a month you guys will be cruising with out ME!!!! I can''t wait to read some of your trip reports.
I miss planning with you guys:sad1: :sad1: :sad1:

Morning to everyone! Can't say good, it's just too early for that.

Michelle, great to hear from you! We miss you too and wish that you were going with us but yours and Angelina's health is more important. Hope things are getting better.

Arlene, I did pm you but need to brainstorm with you I think.
So sorry to hear about your grandma. I can't imagine what life will be like without mine since she's been a major part of my life growing up also. Please don't stress about catching up, there really is still time.

I have no idea what Kieran is but I'm sure it's a positively genius costume that I will go AH! to later once I know.

Pookie is sleeping in my bed (woke up at 5:55 this morning) so not sure how I can get a shower without waking her yet so this will be an interesting morning.....

Now off to coffee........no sleep last night...not good.....

Arlene, Sorry to hear about your loss. We know what it is like. We lost my husband's dad in January. The loss is still great. Our thoughts are with you.

lol, i LOVE apple pie!, :rotfl2: great costume!

AHHHH! (see I told you!) Makes sense now that I think back to chat that night and why he kept saying that over and over.

Very cute!

QOTD is recylced from Amy since I have no brain cells this morning..

What Disney character are you most like?

Tinkerbell maybe for the sassiness, Jiminy Cricket for always trying to do the right thing and Dopey for not being the brightest or most talkative in a crowd.

Hi Michelle! How is Angelina doing?

sorry for my absence lately, my grandma passed away Sept. 22nd and all of my energy has been focused on coping with that. She helped raise me. I miss her bad. :sad1:

Arlene, I am so sorry for your loss.

I went through the same thing 5 years ago. My grandma also helped raise me (my parents were 17 & 18 when I was born).

She actually checked herself out of the hospital, AMA, for my wedding. She told the Dr.'s where to go. She died a couple months after my wedding. She was dying of kidney failure and had me bringing her salt for her food. She was awesome. She used to throw pies in people's faces at Christmas and have canned whipped cream fights with my father! I can still feel her with me all the time... (especially when I am hosting a holiday at my house ~ I swear she makes the trip down to keep me sane)...

Your grandma will always be with you. I hope your memories keep you going through the difficult times. :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

Good Luck.

Lots of

Thank you for posting the Chili's reminder. We did go to our local Chili's, and we :flower3: ran into some friends of ours whose 4 year old just finished chemo in June. I appreciate a company willing to give back to such a worthy cause.

Michelle

Shosie,

I meant to send this message to you at sundown last night, but forgot... sorry... :sad2:

Anyway,

L'shanah tovah

I hope you and you family are having a wonderful time celebrating (and eating) :goodvibes

Oh, my fellow cruisers. Come with me on a tale of the UPS delivery....

Today is Momma's and Munchkins at church so we are out the door at 9:50 this morning. Have a great time playing.

Ed gets home while we're out and runs some errands for me that I really didn't want to do. Yeah!

I come home to see that wonderful, glorious, enormous brown van parked at my driveway (blocking me out, I might add...). Thankfully Ed is home now and accepts the delivery!

My hearts jumps into my mouth and then starts racing! They've come! My cruise documents have come! But, wait....what is he holding in his hand? That's not our cruise documents! (Extreme sadness here).

Finally the UPS driver gets out of my driveway so that I can park (darn van won't start for him, three tries it takes.)

Ed meets me at the door, "Honey, it's from DCL!" He knows better than to open it up! (Extreme joy here!)

It's in a totally different kind of packaging from last cruise. White plasticy bubble wrap kind of thingy. (Ed tells me that I'm so good at explaining things, don't you agree? Usually it's thingamajig or whositity thing)

I open it up and yes, it our docs! (Extreme joy here again, almost ready to cry it's becoming so real!!!)

And then Extreme sadness again.....it's only for one cabin and 2 people. Um, we have two cabins and six people total. Well, I'll be thinking good thoughts for the rest of them when Ameera and I wave goodbye from the ship to the dock back to them....Bon Voyage! I'll take lots of pictures for y'all!

I finally find the phone number for DCL and get ahold of Don. Don is a nice gentleman but you can tell he's not a cruiser. No excitement about getting cruise documents.....a real downer of a guy.

Now, back to, well, I can't say extreme, but happiness is a good term.

Don, the monotone man, tells me that the other occupant of our cabin has a seperate package being delivered to her at her address (because they're not our kids and don't live with us.) Okay, slight "yeah" here.

And then I tell him about the other cabin to which I get told, it may be on another truck, be delivered another day, blah, blah, blah, blah. Doesn't he know that I've been waiting over a year for these?! How can he just talk like that? Doesn't he know I have 23 days before I leave? Where is his excitement for me???????!!!!!! These are burning questions that I WANT TO KNOW!

So, with my heart beating faster and faster, I ask him to check, PLEASE, and see if the other packages have been mailed out. Yes, packages! See, because we have two cabins and two seperate families in them, there are two packages per cabin. Math class again.....2 cabins x 2 packages each = 4 packages........what a waste of postage. Could have been all in one package, sent on the one day, received on the one day.....no freaking out or heart attacks needed. EVERYONE would have been happy. But, no, DCL has their own way of doing things and I guess for them it's easier to track 4 seperate little packages than one bigger package.

So, the story will continue....well, be put on hold for a day or two until all of the packages are received, accounted for and looked over with a fine tooth comb and a magnifying glass.

BUT I GOT MY FREAKIN' CRUISE DOCUMENTS TODAY!!!!!!

Everyone, please join in with me on the happy "cruise document" dance! Jenn, please lead us off......
