Oh, my fellow cruisers. Come with me on a tale of the UPS delivery....
Today is Momma's and Munchkins at church so we are out the door at 9:50 this morning. Have a great time playing.
Ed gets home while we're out and runs some errands for me that I really didn't want to do. Yeah!
I come home to see that wonderful, glorious, enormous brown van parked at my driveway (blocking me out, I might add...). Thankfully Ed is home now and accepts the delivery!
My hearts jumps into my mouth and then starts racing! They've come! My cruise documents have come! But, wait....what is he holding in his hand? That's not our cruise documents! (Extreme sadness here).
Finally the UPS driver gets out of my driveway so that I can park (darn van won't start for him, three tries it takes.)
Ed meets me at the door, "Honey, it's from
DCL!" He knows better than to open it up! (Extreme joy here!)
It's in a totally different kind of packaging from last cruise. White plasticy bubble wrap kind of thingy. (Ed tells me that I'm so good at explaining things, don't you agree? Usually it's thingamajig or whositity thing)
I open it up and yes, it our docs! (Extreme joy here again, almost ready to cry it's becoming so real!!!)
And then Extreme sadness again.....it's only for one cabin and 2 people. Um, we have two cabins and six people total. Well, I'll be thinking good thoughts for the rest of them when Ameera and I wave goodbye from the ship to the dock back to them....Bon Voyage! I'll take lots of pictures for y'all!
I finally find the phone number for DCL and get ahold of Don. Don is a nice gentleman but you can tell he's not a cruiser. No excitement about getting cruise documents.....a real downer of a guy.
Now, back to, well, I can't say extreme, but happiness is a good term.
Don, the monotone man, tells me that the other occupant of our cabin has a seperate package being delivered to her at her address (because they're not our kids and don't live with us.) Okay, slight "yeah" here.
And then I tell him about the other cabin to which I get told, it may be on another truck, be delivered another day, blah, blah, blah, blah. Doesn't he know that I've been waiting over a year for these?! How can he just talk like that? Doesn't he know I have 23 days before I leave? Where is his excitement for me???????!!!!!! These are burning questions that I WANT TO KNOW!
So, with my heart beating faster and faster, I ask him to check, PLEASE, and see if the other packages have been mailed out. Yes, packages! See, because we have two cabins and two seperate families in them, there are two packages per cabin. Math class again.....2 cabins x 2 packages each = 4 packages........what a waste of postage. Could have been all in one package, sent on the one day, received on the one day.....no freaking out or heart attacks needed. EVERYONE would have been happy. But, no, DCL has their own way of doing things and I guess for them it's easier to track 4 seperate little packages than one bigger package.
So, the story will continue....well, be put on hold for a day or two until all of the packages are received, accounted for and looked over with a fine tooth comb and a magnifying glass.
BUT I GOT MY FREAKIN' CRUISE DOCUMENTS TODAY!!!!!!
Everyone, please join in with me on the happy "cruise document" dance! Jenn, please lead us off......
