Hi everyone,
I've just spent the last half-hour at various website looking into Wilma. Although they all say that predictions aren't accurate out more than a day or two, most seem to think it will be heading into the gulf by Friday and will then turn and strike western Florida late on Saturday. They clearly don't know WHERE it will hit since the predictions range from the Keys up to Tampa. There also seems to be agreement that it will lose strength once it starts through the Yucatan channel and will probably hit florida as a Cat 2. Although I'm not sure, I don't think a Cat 2 on the west coast will cause big enough problems on the east coast to stop us from boarding and setting out to sea. Once a hurricane hits land, it usually breaks up pretty quickly.
I agree with Mrs.Abuboo's DH and ThreeSmith's DH - I think we have a good chance for an extra day at sea on Sunday and we'll take the long route around Cuba to get to GC on Tuesday. As long as Cozumel doesn't sustain major damage (cross your fingers!), we should be able to go there also.
Of course, there are still some models that show it going into the Yucatan down near Belize and breaking up. I like that one best, but it doesn't seem to have many followers among the forcasters!
I'm not going to panic over it - if we do a modified cruise I'll be a little disapointed since we also didn't get our "real" Western last year and rebooked a Western for that reason. I certainly hope we don't get the San Juan - Nassau itinerary since I don't care for either of those ports!

in my book.
....but I would RATHER see someplace new and diffrent.
...SO she's fitting me in on her day off for a re-do
...Then we get to load the car...and head for the airport

no that won't work, they would probably get our luggage all mixed together.
I think I need a happness pill or some Pixie Dust, or at the least a group hug.

What a great new itinerary! I can't wait to share that one with DH!
. I was wondering the same thing about changing course and going around Cuba. I just read a post somewhere else that a past Western cruise stopped at CC first due to a storm in the gulf. Maybe that's what we'll do. One thing is for sure, with the forecast of the storm moving into the Atlantic Sunday, the captain will hightail it south.
