Maybe I'm just being optimistic but from the looks of this we're going to jussssssssssssst miss it. It's going to be rough those first couple days though.

I was just going to post the same thing....it might actually be looking better for us (if that's possible). The latest projection has it slowing down a little, and now it won't hit Florida until Sunday, around 0100. Yesterday it was hitting Florida around 8pm Saturday. I know hurricanes have far reaching "arms" .... but we should still be okay if it does reach FL that late??? Just depart a little early and step on the gas pedal and head toward safe waters.

Do you know if Orlando Airport shuts down, we are flying in Saturday morning, hopefully.

I just went to Disney Cruise line home page and this is what they have posted,

Weather Update

As of 5:00 p.m. EST - Tuesday, October 18, 2005

We are currently monitoring Hurricane Wilma very closely as it moves through the western Caribbean.

The latest predictions from the National Weather Service indicate the storm will have moved through the region by the end of this week. At this time, we do not anticipate any changes in the October 22, 2005 voyage of the Disney Magic®.

This week's Disney Magic® and Disney Wonder® voyages will not be impacted by the storm. :goodvibes :rotfl:

The safety and security of our guests is always our top priority. If necessary, our Captains are always prepared to alter the ships courses or itinerary to navigate away from inclement weather.

Looking at the track of it you should be OK on Saturday morning. Just keep your fingers crossed and tell Wilma to put the brakes on!!!!!

I've seen other predictions, here is mine (being the arm chair weatherman/cruise planner that I am ;) ):

1) I think flying in Friday/Saturday and boarding on Saturday is pretty safe. Even leaving ~6pm is probaly still there since these storms tend to move more slowly then thay predict. Yesterday they had landfall in southern Florida on Saturday afternoon/evening, now it is ~midnight Saturday night into overnight Sunday .
2) Key West is out. They evacuated all non residents today and it isn't even going to start getting bad till late Friday into Saturday. Sunday will be still rainy/overcast and they will be trying to clean up.
3) Going between Fl and Cuba is out, don't want to drive into the mouth of the monster, so to speak.
4) Most likely: Modified western by going around the southern tip of Cuba. I could even see them picking up Ocho Rios (does anybody stop in Jamaica any more?) So, ~2 days at sea before first port.
5) Less likely: Complete switch to eastern. My guess is if the news from GC/Cozumel is bad, they won't want to go there just a few days after the storm since so much will be closed. They could do Nassau, St Thomas, St. Martin, Castaway Kay.

OK, any other thoughts?

MCO does shut down for some hurricanes but Sat morning should be good as long as Wilma doesn't speed up or expand it's reach much further out. If she stays on the current schedule it looks like the Wonder maybe out to sea longer than expected or come home a day early and then run. While I earlier said I didn't mind mystery I really don't want it to ruin anyones trip. So in that frame of mind.....Go away Wilma dance :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

I haven't posted forever...

Hey hyandui, are you flying US Airways from Philedelphia Saturday morning? We will be on that flight...we will be on that flight....we will be on that flight.

JeffKiel I think your prediction is pretty much on target, it's too bad about Key West I hope they dodge this one but it wont help our trip. I haven't read anything about the eastern itinerary other than some not liking Nassau.
Guess it's time to pull passporter back out and start reading.
Good travel to all who haven't left yet. We leave here at 7am tomorrow.
Vacation, anyway you spell it....Great :cheer2:  :Pinkbounc

Hyundai, which eastern cruise where you on in October 2004? My Mom and I were on the October 16 Disney cruise last year.

I just went back on my computer date book, we actually were on the eastern from November 13th to the 20th, we usually try to go over the Halloween week. :goodvibes :wave2:

I think you are pretty much right on. I was telling my wife the same thing this AM. We're flying from CA on Friday, so we should be in the clear. I had a feeling Key West was going to be out, since they are evacuating...that stop won't be possible. I have heard, via Weather Channel or some other outlet, that Cozumel and the Caymans might get hit pretty hard. So I think they still might be recovering a couple days down the road when we're scheduled to show up. We'll know probably by the end of today how they faired in this mess. I honestly think we'll do some modified cruise.

With that said....I really hope we skip Nassau. I've been there twice and I really don't want to go back. San Juan would be nice. I'm not sure about other cruise line schedules, but do you think it would be a possibility to hit Key West right before we come home...if it doesn't get plastered by Wilma. Key West was really the only port I was looking forward to.

I've been procrastinating. We really need to start packing over here. Too much worrying about Wilma. But I'm off to a field trip w/ my DD's class to the pumpkin patch. No time...No time....

Hi Everyone!

It looks like things look OK for Grand Cayman - I don't know if we are going to get there, but they seem to have escaped this monster. If you want it striaght from the horse's mouth, try this site http://www.weatherincayman.com/TS Wilma.htm

It is a lot more questionable for Cozumel - however, they weathered a big hurricane earlier this season and didn't seem to have too much damage. Maybe they have built for it? We'll know more in a couple of days ....

I suppose a really modified Western is possible with Grand Cayman & Costa Maya.

We are all packed. I am at work now, but both DH & I are leaving about 3pm and will meet at home. (DS goes to our next door neighbor after school, so he'll already be there.) The limo comes at 4:45 and we head off to the airport.

We may be the only people here who spent their last night at home canning! We had a ton of hot peppers from the garden that we needed to do something with, so we now have 4 quarts of pickled peppers! DH is one of those 'the house must be perfectly clean while I'm away' people, so we also swept, mopped, dusted, etc. I finally convinced him to finish packing the last stuff around 1AM! :rotfl2:

See y'all real soon!

Bye Pdarrah! Safe travels and see you soon!

I am hoping it doesn't rain Friday night, or day for that matter. We already bought our MNSSHP tix and I really don't think I want to walk around in the rain!

I think you've pretty much got it pegged, too. If it does what they say it's going to in the next day or two (pretty likely since all five models show it pretty close) Cozumel is going to get flattened. After going through Ivan I've seen first hand what that kind of wind/water can do. IMHO there's less than a 50/50 chance we'll be stopping there unless their construction is amazing. Unless something totally unexpected happens, Grand Cayman looks like it's fine. Interesting to see if we end up with modified Western or Eastern.

We'll be leaving early Friday a.m. and driving down. Safe travels to everyone leaving!

We are worried about getting stopped driving down by an evacuation going the other direction. :umbrella: And does it not seem kind of ominous that a "dubya" hurricane is heading towards the state of Florida? I have to have a lot of faith to drive directly into this thing.. :scratchin

Hi gang,

We are flying U.S. Air out of Washington D.C. Saturday morning and due to arrive in Orlando at 11 am. Whew, talk about cutting it close. I am really nervous.

My sister called the cruise line today and they told her that they keep track of everyone's arriving flights into MCO and if there are alot of people arriving late, they will hold the ship. But I guess they will only hold the ship as long as is feasable or safe? They also told her that it looks like we may be taking an eastern route, but still too soon to bet on.

Also, I wonder what traffic will be like getting to port. I'm sure there are going to be tons of people getting out of harms way and causing traffic delays. I'll be taking Disney's shuttle, so I'm sure they'll wait for the buses, but just a word of caution to those people driving themselves.

Does anyone know how bad the rain/wind needs to get before they start cancelling flights? It looks like Orlando is going to be ok for this time period, but I'm still worried.

I really, really, really, really hope to see you guys this weekend!!! :wizard:
