I just checked DCL's site and was quoted $7522 and some change for 2 adults in a Cat 6 for the 15-night eastbound Repo. Haven't heard anything from DU, but I wouldn't be surprised if they lost my request (I've yet to be impressed by them but I thought this might have been their chance to shine).


Because I am a curious person I checked the prices for the Mexican cruises - the further you go into the equatorial summer the lower the prices - sailing in Cat 6 on 6/22/08 is $5349 and change.

The Repo is still a better deal but there's no way I'll be able to convince the man that we should do it.

I'm in. I got it up online right away and was ready to put the credit card number in and all of a sudden, the CM picked up the phone line. (I got an initial "current hold time is 3 minutes" right after 8:00 a.m. EST. ) Well after 25 min the CM came on, then the dates weren't loaded yet. Like they didn't know people were going to be calling? They were able to change the website somehow between 7:50 and 8:00 EST to have the new itins. What's going on with the phone bank computers?

Anyhow, we got our 10% discount and $200 OBC from booking last week and got a Cat 9 room for us (2A + 1C-8) for a hair under $5,200. That is a lot less than I was planning.

I won't say goodbye to you all yet. Suz hasn't gotten the time off approved yet. It will be a stretch for her to get it. Guess I better start looking at the 4-nt double dip in June '08 as a back up.

I thought it was just me that couldnt get on this morning... logged on for my usual morning bump and nothing happened I almost succumbed to doing the ironing, but luckily found something to watch on tv instead - phew! - that was a close call!

My hubby would have a coronary if I told him his holiday would be $10k. I guess you wont be taking me up on my sare room idea then?

No chance you'd go window only?

I know to go from Cat 9 to Cat 8 was $1,000 more for us ($900 after the discount). Cat 7 would have been $2,800 more ($2,520 after discount). I don't remember Cat 6, but it was yet a few hundred more than 7.

I would think you could get Cat 8 (Decks 5-7) for around $4,000+ if you have a ressie to move. DS was around $1,000-$1,100 for his portion.

Guess I better start looking at the 4-nt double dip in June '08 as a back up.

O.K. does it look bad that I quoted myself?

Anyhow, I was looking at the 4-nt double dips to get a price as a back up. WOW. I think those were more popular than the Repo (or should I say Reaper ).

Anyhow, I first went in and brought up all June 2008 cruises and only Cat 11 & 12 were available on 6/8 and 6/22. I then went to check August and it was only Cat 12 for all sailing. Went back to June and the Cat 11's were all gone. July only has the 6th and 27th (no 13th or 20th) and ONLY Cat 12. May only has Cat 12 for each of its dates.

Well, I guess if the PC cruise isn't a go, we will definitely be keeping the Oct '07.

Karen Ive just done a few sums and am shocked at what i found,we paid £8500 for the five of us aboard the legends of the sea RC for 14 nights so thats £1700pp but with disney (ok room not as big)the price come out at £1300pp with an extra day chucked in for free..like i said I think it's cheap...

Seriously though I know what you mean.. It doesnt sound sooooo bad when you break it down per person. Its just the extras like flights, park passes, hotel accom, etc etc and of course - shopping

Talking of extras - just found out the stamp duty on the new house we like would be £10,000

After solicitors, surveys, etc etc we'll have none of the 20k savings left. We were hping to put about 10k down on the house - what a joke! Had no idea stamp duty was THAT expensive. Another reason to add to the "lets stay where we are" list.


Jeff - I have often been tempted to quote myself too when I re-read what I have written and it doesnt sound right. I just edit instead... but you may have started a new trend Mr page 139.

We've never sailed in anything other than a category 6 and Jason is being somewhat difficult... when I told him the price for cat 6 he said no without actually saying no. Then a few minutes ago when I mentioned how much more affordable it was in the rooms without verandahs he said, "what's the fun of sailing without a balcony?"

Have you sailed in a Cat 8 or 9? What's the difference between the two?

I sailed cat 9 the other week and have sailed SPH which is basically cat 8. The difference is location. Cat 9's are on decks 1 and 2 (you don't want deck 1 - only the 2 small port holes). Cat 8's are on Decks 5-7. You can get a mid-ship cat 9, but the Cat 8's are only forward.

Both rooms are the size of a Cat 6, just no balcony. They both have the same split bath and the sitting area is right next to the window (which is at least 3 ft in diameter).

The problem with 9's, at least from what I've read, is some do not have th steamer trunk. We didn't have one 2 weeks ago, but we did notice the room 2 down from us did. When I booked this morning I had a choice of 2588 or 2590. 2588 was right after the break you see on the deck plans and looks like no possible way of having a trunk. So I opted for 2590 in hopes to get the trunk. Didn't need really the other week, but with 2 weeks of sailing, even if we do wash twice (or 3 times), I'm sure we'll need the space.

Actually...I'm eying that 5-night Bahama cruise in September 2008...it would be a good compromise for my parents and we could sneak some WDW time in ahead of the cruise. And, you get two stops at Castaway Cay!

So, we may take a serious look at the one in the next few days. I could live with that.

Along with a trip to the place that shall not be named (do you think that's where voldemort likes to vacation?).

Been to Jamaica and will probably go back but for a long weekend.

Been to the VI on DCL. If you go, go to something other than St. Thomas. Maybe even the BVI's.

St. Lucia would be really nice. That is one place I want to get to.

So is HI. There again, I would spend little time in Honolulu and go to a couple of other islands.

Since your up in this price range, what about the Tahiti, Moorea (sp?) and/or Bora Bora?
