Only "concrete2 price Ive seen is $13,700 for a cat2 adults and two kids 11 and 7...that's sounds cheap to me,too cheap but i guess we'll all know tomorrow .....:)

Naaahhhh....you dont wanna cruise.......you'd rather invest your 13k towards our new mortgage:rotfl: I'll invite you to stay, rock your bed every now and then so you get sea sick and put travel posters on the guest room wall......now theres an offer you surely cant refuse:rotfl: ........no?:confused3 ...........cant imagine why not:rotfl2:

Hope you're all lucky and it comes in cheaper than you all hope. Fingers crossed for tomorrow for you. Here... have some of that dust stuff to make the price cheaper pixiedust:

Cheap....I can't find an icon that mimes fainting so you'll just have to imagine it. ;)

How about this for an acceptable alternative: :scared:

I see where you're coming from with that figure, especially with the kids but my husband would bury me alive in our backyard compost pile if I booked a cruise (or any vacation for that matter) in that price range. :lmao:

Good luck tomorrow everyone - let us know if you survive!! :goodvibes

Brenda,

They do have a "faint" smiley, :faint: it is basically "faint" with the ":" on each side.

Don't forget, for our UK DISers, with the weak dollar, they are only paying 1/2, as one UK lady said on the cruise the other week. Man we need that to go the other way. Sorry my UK friends.

I sure hope what we want is doable.

Jeff

Give it ago, you can't loose anything
Heather

Well, I just got off the phone with the TA, and I am so excited!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

They are giving us $100 OBC and we get to keep the $200 OBC from DCL!!

PLUS..........They were running some sort of special in which we get a certificate for a 5 night trip (used within 1 year) to Cabo!!!   Hopefully we will have the time and $$ to get to do it!

It just goes to show that you never know until you try!!

And I was having a bad day.....

Now if I can just get someone to make the wait time go faster!!!

Have a great day, all!!!

Ok, back to real life........:laundy:

Well done disgrits, just goes to show its worth looking around !!!:cool1:

I keep meaning to look into changing our gas and electic supplier, we are with British Gas for both and they are apparently the most expensive, and loads of other companies keep saying come with us blah blah blah, but i dont know what one and how ............. so i do nothing.... dumb I know. I really must stop dissing and get looking!!!

night all. ........ or good afternoon across the pond!:)

Jeff am sorry but am at a loss to explain how she comes to that...a $10000 holiday in 2004 cost me £5747,the same $10000 holiday in 2007 would cost me £5263 so thats a saving of about 10% hardly half price,i wish....:rotfl2:

ps...The real difference in price is about 15% thats all....:)

:offtopic: I'm glad everyone else is having a good day...cuz mine is %##$%#$%$!!

Won't go into the whole thing but I will tell you that it has to do with real estate taxes, a mortgage company who insists the money was sent to the county and the county who insists they have no money yet!!!

Taxes s/h/b paid on Dec 31st and here it is Jan 30th and still not paid. Which means...I can't claim it on 2006's tax year!!:furious: :furious: :furious:
Which means no cruise for us!! OK..I'm exaggerating on that last part. We're still cruising...God willing!!:)

I'm so angry I'm going to eat the Key Lime Pie my DD got me for my birthday cake!! And I'm going to eat a BIG FAT piece too...maybe even the whole thing.:headache:

I NEED DUST STUFF!!!!

Nancy -

if you escrow for taxes your mortgage company has to have proof that they paid them by 12/31. Start there and ask them to supply proof of a wire transfer or a cashiers check - however they pay the escrow obligation, they have to have a record of it.

If they do have a record - it isn't their fault, but certainly provides a trail (paper or electronic) to show the county proving that your RE taxes were in fact paid and a civil servant was alseep at the switch.

If for some reason your mortgage company mailed a check that hasn't been cashed yet, it's very simple for them to stop payment, issue a new one, and cover any late fees for you while explaining to the county collector that what has happened is not your fault. I don't know if that will help you for this year's taxes or not.

BUT - if the county got the money prior to 12/31/06 and made a mistake they have to issue you the appropraite receipt for your 2006 taxes.

Whew...I think I'm confusing myself now. Don't take it sitting down - get your mortgage company working...that's why you escrow, to prevent this kind of stuff.

Unless you're anal like me...as soon as our house had at least 20% equity we refinanced (for like the 3rd time in 2 years) and threw the escrow out the window. Why should the mortgage company make money on our money all year when we can save it and earn interest on it ourselves?

I hate writing that check at the end of the year, but at least I know it's been paid and I have the satisfaction of not letting GMAC make any more $$$ off me than they already do.

Anyway, take a deep breath but don't choke on the pie! Make some calls tomorrow and kick some butt! Everything will work out - you'll see!

Thanks Brenda but I'm at a standstill. The mortgage co said they sent a check for $1,300,000.00 to cover the taxes of 352 of us. They said the check was 1) lost, then 2) voided, then (3) cashed on 12/28. They actually had the nerve to tell me all three!! I said, well which is it?? She assured me that it was cashed. I asked for a copy of the cashed check and of course it involves 352 of us, they won't give me that info. They called the county (I was on hold) and then came back and told me that it's the county's fault because the check was cashed and that it's not their concern anymore.

Chuck and I skipped out of work for a while and went to the courthouse to take care of it in person. There were 3 other people there complaining about the same thing!! To avoid any penalties which kick in on Thursday, I paid 1/2 the bill. Now I have to hope that if it does get paid by Jan 31st, they will re-imburse me the portion that I paid myself. One lady left in tears because she couldn't pay her half, one guy paid 1/2 like we did and the other one paid the whole thing and skipped out. That last guy apparently was the most recent winner of the $254,000,000.00 Power ball ticket.

We even had some old guy laughing at us all. He said to us, "You know, if you all just worked harder and didn't spend your money so foolishly, you'd be able to pay your houses off in 10 years like I did and not have to worry about mortgage companies". I just gave him a dirty look, Chuck muttered something under his breath...(I think I heard him right but I won't repeat it) and one guy told him to mind his own business.

Well the county doesn't care if we pay or not because they can collect penalties on all of us starting Thursday. Meanwhile I'm out a couple thousand dollars until everyone gets their stuff together.

Can you spell "CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT"???

Now in the interim...if all of you fine people sent me any spare cash you have laying around (search those couch cushions people) ....:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Anyway...we'll work it out. I just wanted to vent. And yes, I already told the mortgage company that they should send me my own check from my escrow and I'll pay my own bill before Dec 31st!!

UPDATE>>>I looked at Kira's pictures, put the pie back, and am settled in to watch American Idol.

Cass...thanks for sharing those great pictures. I also love the black and whites best.:flower3:

I can't believe your mortgage company is taking that attitude...they are legally obligated to ensure that your taxes are paid in a timely fashion and when there is a mistake it is their job to investigate and correct if necessary.

I would think for $1.3MM they'd be wanting to know who the heck cashed the check and why your accounts haven't been credited appropriately. After all, it's your money.

Oh yeah, I'd be talking to a lawyer, and some senior management types at the mortgage company.

Good luck - I wish I could help.

Ah, now I know why I self escrow. I've always went with a mortgage company that would let me out of escrowing.

But to your delima, I would contact your County Supervisor. Hey, what else do they have to do for the constituents (sp?)? Explain the problem to them and let them know it was not only you. Also tell them that supposedly the check cleared last month.

The other thing to do is sit in the assessors/treasurers office (not the low life at the counter, the actual top assessor or treasurer for the County) and call the mortage company. Then have the County try to wiggle their way out of it. Or vice versa if the Mortgage Company is not telling the truth. A check that large doesn't just disappear. Plus, in today's age, you'd think the mortgage company would have EFT'd the funds to the County.

Another option, call one of the TV stations. They would be all over this for "Contact 6" or "4 on your side" or whatever else the local channels have. It will be either the county or mortgage company looking bad. And with 352 people that this happened to, it may make one of the top stories on the news.

Good luck.

Here's some "dust stuff" pixiedust:

If this check actually got mailed before 12/31, and the mortgage company can prove that (which should be easy if it cleared 12/28), you should be able to take that off your taxes. Just as if you mailed it on 12/31 it is considered paid last year. They go by the postmark date.

I've had clients that got screwed by their mortgage companies in the timing that it got paid (i.e. not sending it until after 1/1). One client actually went down on the 31st to pay their taxes and then just got a check back from the municipality once the mortgage company check arrived. They just wanted it in paid in the previous year.

Hey Jeff,

Waukesha County does not accept "wires". Oh yeah, that was another thing the mgt co told them. "We wired the money over". After the clerk told them that they don't accept wires, mgt co hung up on her. Something's rotten in Denmark...or Waukesha County.

Also one of the reasons we went with this mgt co was because we were able to add it into our mgt agreement that our taxes are ALWAYS paid that year before Dec 31.

Looks like Chuck and I will be refinancing this year some time. Some time soon!!

I'm going to send one of these guys over pirate: to the mgt co/county office and see what happens!:lmao:

P.S....and it won't be Jack Sparrow...he's all mine!

Chris,

I'm assuming you are talking about the DIS down time, correct?

I logged onto DCL at 4:00 a.m. EST (figured it was the 31st on the West Coast and that is when you can book excursions and Palo) and they had nothing changed on the res page.

They didn't have anything 30 minutes ago either and their site says to book online, call them or your TA on the 31st. Don't think the web will be working at 8:00 a.m. EST today.
