Fags are cigarettes!

I learned that years ago when I was a wee lass fascinated by the Beatles.

No that you say that, I do remember that reference.

BTW Brenda, if you haven't gone back up to my post of the Mochaccino, I edited to add the picture of the menu. It isn't the full menu, and it is a little blurry, but I posted it anyways.

Can I just say that reading through a page of posts between our friends on the other side of the ocean sometimes makes me feel like I need Little Orphan Annie's Secret Decoder Ring? :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

And when you ask about decent bacon what do you mean? Are you talking about the way it's cooked or the cut of the meat? Just wondering...

And what the heck is a buttie? It that a biscuit? or is it a sandwich?

BTW, AFEG, I thought you were joking about the dyslexia, too. I agree with Karen, other than the "our / are" usage I never noticed anything. You do a terrific job with the written word. :thumbsup2

Your bacon is different to ours - I personally like the way americans cook it "crispy" but a lot of english people like it limp and pink - ewk! Your bacon is also more streaky with fat where as ours is leaner.

Ok, next one,.....buttie is our word for sandwich - just 2 slices with whatever between. We dont have your kind of biscuits in England that you have with brekkie - sorry - breakfast - gosh, you wouldnt think we spoke the same language! The nearest we have would be a scone but that would have jam and cream on it and not go with bacon.

Hope that helps!

Karen,

I want to say congrats!

I noticed in your signature you are now 15# in 8 months. It had been 18# in 9 months. That would have been 2# per month and you did 3#.

Good job.

Jeff

Ahhh Thanks Jeff, I'm still a fattie, but its coming off slowly with all the :yay: :yay: :yay: exercise.

Hi my fellow cruisers...

Karen & Chris, I have a few questions for you from your last few posts...

What are fags?

What do you mean when you say your weight in stone? :confused3

What is a bacon buttie?

Sorry, but my very American brain is not understanding these terms!

Tina

Ok, next lot..... fags are cigarettes. Horrible habit whatever you call them:rolleyes1

buttie - answered that one above:thumbsup2

Yep - we weigh in stone and pounds or some now do kilos. Therre are 14 lb to a stone - maths is not my strong point so I cant tell you how many lb I am.

Chris, you're in a cat 3 right? I think concierge guests can request a dining rotation, and it's guaranteed. I could be mistaken, but I think the concierge guests get first choice of a desired rotation. Might want to ask your TA. ;)

There you are Chris - you wont need my personal chef after all:lmao: :lmao:

I can answer this one (I just looked it up, I'm not that smart :rotfl2: ).

A stone is 14 pounds (sorry Karen and Chris if you didn't want that conversion out there).

I do have a question though, why do you use "stones" instead of Kilograms?

England turned "metric" years ago, but my parents still use feet and inches and lbs and stones etc. I use metric when I am measuring anything with my son eg how many centimetres etc but when I measure my height I'm 5'3" - there - now you all know I'm a short fattie:rotfl2:

You'll find most of my generation still use both. Its only recently that I started using centigrade instead of fareinheight (sp) for temperatures too. We're a wierd bunch in England - as you can tell we adopt change slowly - only 2 generations so far and its still not happened:lmao: :lmao:

We also still call it a pound of sugar etc even though the bag is 2 kilos or whatever it is:confused3

Its a real mismatch and it depnds on who you talk to as to what they use. At my gym they ask you what you want to be weighed in - I opt for stones cos tha "9" seems a lot less than "100 and something":rolleyes1

RIGHT...OFF TO ANSWER THE NEXT QUESTION.

I could probably answer this one too, but I don't think I will be giving the answer they are referring too.

That is the "buttie" you get after eating a lot of bacon. :lmao:

:lmao: :lmao: LOVE IT:lmao: :lmao: We actually have a saying where I am from "lardy ****" - I dont need to translate that do I?:lmao:

Right then...just realised that was the last question.......any more while I'm here?:confused3 Happy to translate:goodvibes

ARE YOU ALL FED UP OF ME BY NOW?

Reading all this rubbish just to get a page to myself:rolleyes1

Changed my mind - dont want to be Ms 140 anymore
