DH here....I will be back soon, Carrie wanted to know if all was ok in CA. before falling asleep.

talk soon

DH here...Just saw a news blip on it, but we caught the tail end of it. Glad it was a rolling one and not the sudden shift kind. Growing up in the southern part CA, recall those oh sowonderfull quakes. First on was when in '71, I think. I recall having quake drills once a month throught school. Glad to see you all doing OK. Hope no major aftershocks come.:grouphug:

Scott/candyman

News flash is one, so far no injuries or major damage, water pipe broke somewhere in the city it is center. News is saying they can have some aftershocks for the next week, they have had 10 so far in the last hour and 20 minutes, but they are only 1.3 or smaller, and it was a deep earthquake (5 miles or more down) and those cause the least damage. DS was trying to describe it to DH and said it was like Godzilla just pushed the house.:lmao:

hi fellow kkers. just thought id pop in to say hi. didnt get a chance to meet many of you last week but i noticed a lot of the guys watching me on deck 10
you know who you are.:cutie: :cheer2:
as far as my getting my dream guy,..i did a lurking bigred thing all week and saw how happy he and the blue jay seemed to be and i just couldnt find it in my heart to break up another marraige.:sad1:
(besides, im really scared of that blue jay:scared: )
lucky for me afeg (chris) saw how upset i was and was there to console me.:cloud9: he offered to let me stay on the magic for another week and thats where i am now.:flower3:
i figure with the vd girls out of the way, i may have a chance with chris.
:rolleyes1
as far as a kk reunion, i have rebooked so count me in.:thumbsup2

Hi ya Red. Sorry I did not bump into you on the trip.:guilty: I think I caught a few glimpses of you, but you were to far away and rounding corners. Hope you enjoy the second trip, and looking forward to possibly sailing again with you.

Candman

Hello to my fellow KKers!

It was so wonderful to meet all of you! Like Robin said, we've been chatting together for so long, it's hard not to keep it going!

We had a great time. The first few days before the cruise were sooooo hot, we couldn't believe it was late October. Felt more like late July!

Our suite was gorgeous! The pictures haven't been downloaded yet, but I'll try to post them sometime. Our concierge hosts were just terrific, unbelievable how many goodies were sent to our cabin. There's no possible way we could have ever eaten all the food we got, even with 6 of us in the cabin! I never posted here before that we were going to be in the Walt suite, as I never wanted to seem snobby or anything. We got the call in August asking if we wanted to upgrade from the cat 2 to the cat 1. Who would say no to that? The upgrade from 3 to 2 was four times more expensive than the upgrade from the 2 to the 1. Amazing!

We stayed at the Poly for 1 night after the cruise. We were in Epcot all day on Saturday. It rained, but at least the sun was hidden. I really didn't want another hot day in the parks. We tried Tutto Italia that evening. While the service was good, the food was disappointing. For those prices, we were expecting something much more impressive. Sigh, I miss the fettucine at Alfredos.

We got home on Sunday evening, and ordered pizza as we had nothing in the fridge! Monday was doctor visit day for John and Katie. Both were pretty miserable the end of the trip with colds. Actually, turns out Katie has an ear infection, and John has a sinus infection. Glad we took Monday off!

Well, I just wanted to say hi to everyone. I was supposed to be in bed an hour ago, but told DH I was just popping by here for a quick visit. I guess his "quick visit...not very likely" quote is holding true!

I do hope we can all keep in touch!

Tina

Tina......it was a pleasure meeting you. As I told you before there is nothing snobby about being in that room. Just be proud and post lots of pics.:rotfl2:
BTW Thanks for the tour! I did go and take pics of my door after running into you but for some odd reason mine didn't have the same effect as yours.:lmao: Congrats on the room!!!!!!!!!
Hope your little ones feel better real soon.

Good Morning everybody ,

We just wanted to say we really enjoyed meeting everybody on the cruise , everybody we chatted to were really friendly . as first time cruises we were very unsure about this kind of holiday but we are hooked!!! and we have re-booked to go again in 2009 on the double dip ,

i hope you all had a safe trip home .

sean , cath , olivia.:grouphug:

Bye Karen.

O.K. everyone, she's gone. So what time and where did we move that DIS meet to? And you all got your BLUE wristbands, correct? :lmao:

 - thanks tablemate:lmao:

Hi everyone - just catching up on what I've missed - only a few hundred pages to go:rolleyes1 - be back later:goodvibes

Jen,

Yes, teachers' convention in WI is the last Thur and Fri of October. WEAC has the dates on their website I think for the next 2 or 3 (maybe even 4) years.

See, if anyone has a question, ask Jeff. He'll know :) Thanks!

Suz was able to get Jack Sparrow on CC by himself.

IMG_0298.jpg

This is awesome! He was gone by the time we got there, but we did get a photo of the family in front of the Dutchman.

I probably won't get any pics posted until later this week or this weekend - I forgot about Halloween! Luckily, since we shelled out $$ for a Captain Hook outfit for Thomas on the cruise, he's wearing that for his costume! So cute!

Just to check in, I gained 5.5 pounds. Not surprising since I had double entree's 3 nights and did Palo dinner.

2 years to lose it folks. Should we start the KK2 Losers database now? :confused3 :rotfl:

Count me in...I didn't have any double entrees at dinner, but I will admit to chicken strips and fries after a buffet lunch (one of the days, the PC lunch had some odd offerings) and double desserts a couple of nights (dessert plus b-day cake!) not to mention CHOCOLATE CROISSANTS!

So, who all rebooked now?

Who's all looking at Oct 2009?

Who will go Alaska in Aug 2009 if it comes true? If not, will you go Oct 2009?

Just wondering what we're planning for KK2.

We have rebooked a dummy date to be bumped out when the 2009 itineraries come out. I'd LOVE to do a KK2 cruise!

I would prefer either an Eastern or a CC double-dip - that last week of October worked out well for us, especially if Teacher's Convention is that week and Thomas won't miss school. This will probably be the last time we'll be able to get away with a during-school vacation.

Although Alaska would be beautiful!

P.S. Pete loved CC, not only was it a great beach day but it was the port where I spent the least amount of $$$!

It's so funny...it seemed like all our days were filled, but there were so many things we didn't get to do onboard.

So, before my memory fades, here's my to do list for the next cruise:

Palo (brunch or dinner)
Various locales on Beat Street (we didn't do many night-life activities)
I never got a strawberry smoothie or Konked Kooler (although I have the recipe - thanks DIStaggers!)

Stay aboard during a port day (if doing Western) and hog the hot tub at Quiet Cove!

Anyone else?

I would do an Eastern as well. For us, since we've been on both itins twice now, don't care where it goes. We are just going by that week since WI schools will be closed for 2 days.

If they do Double Dips in 2009, then that week should be one.

If not, I'm not sure how it will go. If the first week a Western (10/3), then 10/10 and 10/24 should be Easterns. They alternate through out the year. It all depends if they do something with the ship in 2009 as well. It will depend how they do the schedule after it returns.

We may see different Wonder cruises as well since it will be 10 years old. I wouldn't mind a 10-night Caribbean on the Wonder (they did a couple either last year or the year before in Sept - I'd like to do it in August). St. Lucia or Antigua would be a nice addition to St. Thomas. I don't need St. Maarten again.

Watch, they'll release the Jan-May and Sept-Dec itineraries but not the summer. We'll all sign up for October but then want to switch to something they bring out for summer.

Becky, it's funny... I didn't even know that it had happened. I was out working on my Halloween decorations and later that night my in-laws told me about it. Crazy huh? At 5.5 where you live you'd think I'da felt a bit of it!

You know, I didn't think about it until just now... but if I do the Eastern there's one more "at sea" day (read: crowded pools) and one less port day (empty ship) I really enjoyed the days that we hardly got off the ship. I may have to re-think my plans!

Hi Sean, Glad to have traveled with ya. And a big thanks for tuning me onto Boddingtons. What a great tasting ale. I saw at a local store that they do sell it here in AZ. But I wanted to ask you about Tetley's ale. How is it? and how does it compare to boddys?

You'd have the same number of sea/port days on a Double Dip as you would on a Western.

But the beauty of the Eastern may get you off the ship.

Steve,

I think it was Lori--she gave one to me even though I wasn't playing tag. Very sweet of her--the kids love listening to it.

It was! Thanks!

Here is a picture of a pirate on our Grand Cayman excursion that Karen and Suz were drowling over. Karen kept saying, "me likey pirates".

:scared1: Don't like to get near guys like that. Makes me look particularly bad. :scared1:

I don't think they are doing double dips this year, but in the years they do it, they have gone the last FULL week of the month. 10/24/09 will come back on 10/31/09, so if they do double dips in 2009, that week should be one.

Yes it would be the Magic.

The Wonder is doing 4 night Double Dips next summer. I'm sure those will be very popular and we'll see more of them in the future. They go CC-Nassau-CC.

The Magic will go CC-sea-Costa Maya, Mexico-Cozumel-sea-CC.

I'd be pretty tempted for that one. But I would also have to have a change of fortune to fund a cruise in '09

Steve.........the CD was from me. I just wanted you and Laura to have one since your favs were on it. I also got 2 great photos of you guys on the deck 7 deck that morning. I will post them soon.

Lori

Thank You Lori. It was a great surprise!

Well looks like we all gained!
Weight and new friendships too:hug:

Very well said, Rose!

yep! we loved hanging around onboard. Call me crazy. Of course the double dip would change that because I would definately go back there as many times a possible!

I saw your pics of the beaches on the Eastern. You are so right. I had already told Laura that we wouldn't bother with any excursions, we'd just hang out at the beach!

Well, aren't prices quite a bit higher in the summer too? I haven't been able to compare much since the Magic has done special itineraries 2 years running...and I could NOT afford the Med!

Either an Easter or double dip would be nice - I want to do more beach stuff. We really only had one beach day (CC) and I didn't feel like I got enough sun/water time in. Although my burnt-to-a-crisp skin would disagree!

You know, I didn't think about it until just now... but if I do the Eastern there's one more "at sea" day (read: crowded pools) and one less port day (empty ship) I really enjoyed the days that we hardly got off the ship. I may have to re-think my plans!

Steve, if you did a double dip, you'd still want to get off the ship for 2 port days - CC!
