When he was in his late teens, just before being diagnosed and when he used to eat a LOT of sugar and nothing else, he used to pass out a lot. When he was doing his EMT training up north he passed out during an emergency call and well, that ended his EMT future

I don't think he was diagnosed until he was 19 so his mom had a very tough time with him!

At least with his history, we know what to look for. But after reading what refined sugar does to the body, I am steering Kira clear from sugar.

This trip will be the first time she will be eating any kind of refined sugar. I promised Rob that he could share some ice cream with her.

My sister says I am gonna be "one of those moms" but I don't care, sugar is BAD and she will be very limited if I have my way

I am not sure if it is paperback or not. Once I get a book I stop looking for it. If you don't mind a used hardcover book you are more then welcome to mine. It is in good condition. I should be finished with it by the time we go, if not on the plane on the way over. Just let me know if you want it. Once I am done with it I don't have a need for it any longer so I rather pass it on to someone I know then just Goodwill it.


Oh by the way there is a recipe at the end of each chapter.

In-laws booked us on the Pirate Cruise whilst in the Caymans. I can't find any reviews on it. Anyone know anything about this excursion. It sounds fun. Also, DW and Mom In Law are doing the Dolphin Adventure in Cozumel. Dad In Law and I were going to take the boys on our own to Chankanaab Park via taxi and spend the day in the park. Anyone done this on their own. Any suggestions.

Nope ...my other parcel turned up though - dont know if you remember asking if anyone had an mp3 simply for their nintendo ds. Well i tried for days to get it working but couldn't. I posted it to a really kind dibber and he did it all for me and posted it back to me. Ellis now has 22 games for free - he'll be one happy boy on the plane (so will his mommy!)

I'm thinking some of us will be doing the Doc Dance this week. We already know who was first. Any guesses on who is next?

Yep, just got back from the doctor's.....Of course the MRI results were not sent to her yet. But she did inform us that if there were any horrible things (my words, not her's) they would have sent them ASAP. Whatever.

She will call me I think when the results get to her. They were scrambling to try to track them down before I left, but to no avail. We had the MRI done on a different base, at a hospital where they do MRI's. We only have a clinic on our base.

After explaining Emily's history to her, though, she went ahead and referred me to a pediatric neurologist. So I will call Wednesday(I have to wait 48 hrs so the referral is in the system) up at Walter Reed or Bethesda to get her in. Also, when I described Emily's symptoms (which are very mild, but still there), she says there is a chance that this could be hypoglycemia (or did she say Hyperglycemia?)......so our next step with that is to work with the school nurse to get her glucose tested throughout the day....

I am happy with what she told me. She is a very nice doc; it was our 1st time seeing her. I like a doc who is not afraid to order tests and not just dismiss us as raving lunatics (although that is what I am most of the time).
I'm not sure what hypoglycemia is exactly, so I guess I will have some research to do...........

I'm Karen, hubby is Neil and we have a 7year old boy called Ellis. There are quite a few kids of similar ages on here. Come to the meet at the mickey pool at 3pm the day we board and meet us all.

I'm feeling sorry for myself today

Been on the sofa all day wrapped in blankets and eating paracetamol and vitamin c tablets like they're sweeties. I have a stinking cold and I'm constantly freezing. Thank god its now and not next week though. At least it gived me time to get rid of it before we travel.

I have so far eaten 3/4 packet of chocolate digestive biscuits - I cooked a roast dinner but couldnt face it. Chocky bickies for dinner

This is a very friendly group, so feel free to post questions, or just chat in general. I have only been posting for a couple of months, but everyone's just great!

I will be cruising with my DH and DS (4 1/2) as well as my mom and a friend in an adjoining cabin. Please join us at the Mickey pool at 3 for the meet - I'll probably be there early since DS loves the water - we're planning to hit the Mickey pool as soon as they let us board!

Would you either give me what you have made at the meet at 3pm or put the items in my fish on my door fairly early on in the cruise. The longer I have the more shots I'll be able to take and the more fun it will be.

hi guys. cinnamikes on 12 hrs. this week. extra $$$ for strawberry smoothies.
we havnt been on much lately. while we were at cassies fri and sat robins dr
called and wanted to let robin know her bloodwork came back and they wanted her to call. since they usually only call you back if there is a problem i was kind of nervous.
she has been getting dizzy and light headed a lot lately so she went to the dr last week to get checked out before oct.
today she called and they said her thyroid is out of whack and called in a prescription for her to see if they can get it regulated before we go.
(otherwise she may be a little loopy. and shes loopy enough already )
