Shane loves the Harry Potter series as much as we do! Sometimes I have to explain certain things to him in a little more detail, but for the most part, he gets it!!!!

I don't know if I would tell Spencer about you know who. Maybe you could tell him to prepare himself for something big, but not exactly what. That way it is not a complete shock!

I hope he doesn't. I would like to think that after all these years Harry has not suffered for nothing. Hopefully she will end it with good winning over evil. (Thats not to say that Harry may have to suffer a little more to defeat evil.......maybe loose a friend or two?) We shall know what happens in just a few weeks!!!

He knows someone dies. he knows someone dies at the end of most of the books (book 4, 5 and 6). He saw me crying when I was reading the ending of Book 6. I was at his hockey practice and reading in teh stands. He came off the ice and my eyes were all red.

I think most people are thinking that HP realizes that the only way to kill Lord Voldemort will be for him to die - and he sacrifices himself so that Evil will be Gone.

Its not a happy ending but would complete the circle.

I loves me some Harry Potter!!!

We're having a release party at our house on the 20th for all of our dorky friends who read childrens' books, too...


I am a firm believer that Harry will have to sacrifice himself in order to finally "off" Moldy Voldie.

If Rowling keeps following the formula then this is what should happen. I called the major deaths in the last two books - it's like the Arthurian Saga... at the end the hero has to be alone when he faces his nemesis. Harry has no family left alive so he has no one, in theory, to leave behind should he choose to sacrifice himself for the greater good.

And remember what he saw in the Mirror of Erised in Book 1... I think that's a pretty nifty piece of foreshadowing, myself.

If you like to read you should try it. I didnt start reading them until about 3 years ago (around the time the fourth book came out) and finally someone lent me the first book to just read for fun - immediately I was totally hooked. The first 3 books are well written but starting at Book 4, they are VERY well written. She is famous/rich by the time she was writing book 4 and you can tell she has much better editors and support staff. The books get longer and far more complex.

I am now the one that will be standing inline at the book store to get a copy of book 7.

Which book is your favourite?

It's a very close tie between Book 6 and Book 3; those two have the tightest narrative structure and were the best edited books of the series. I love the impact of the mystery that unravels throughout Book 3 and I love all the Voldemort backstory and Harry's maturation in Book 6.

I'm so excited that Book 7 is being published but I'm a little sad too; it's rare to see this kind of phenomena in the publishing world and I doubt anything like this will ever come along again in our lifetimes.

Jay and I don't have kids but our 9 year-old neice is coming with me the get the book at Midnight up at Borders. She told me, "Aunt B, you'd better make some coffee if we're going to stay up all night reading."

I liked book 4. I felt like it was a turning point or maturation time for Harry. But I really like book 6 also.........oh, who am I kidding......I like them all!!!!

Well, it is almost time to get ready to hit the road! I'll be camping this weekend so I wont be able to check in until Sunday!! I hope everyone has a great weekend and I hope that I don't have too many pages to catch up on!!! (thats like a double-edged sword isn't it.....it will take forever to catch up on a lot of pages but we need alot of pages to close in on the other threads...........
