Robin, so sorry to hear how it's going with your brother.
Hang in there, be tough for your parents sake.

I told you how horrible my family was through gram's ordeal, but I knew it was the right thing to do no matter. Even if we never spoke again.
(which we haven't)

You are an angel:angel:
Hugs to you:hug:

ill let robin explain that tonite.
she did find out that there is a senior citizen protection agency that she can call if she has too. her brother is in such denial:mad:

Oh boy....
I had to do that too. They went over to speak with my uncle(who lived with his mom) about his verbally abusing her, and he knew that I had something to do with it.
Actually when I took Gram to get her POA changed to my name and change her will and such, she spoke privately with the attorney's (so they wouldn't think I was coercing(sp?) her. She admitted how he shouted at her and wouldn't help her when she needed to go to the hospital (many times) and told her rotten things like "I'm waiting for you to die so that I can have the house!"...... anyway, in that room there was a woman that worked for a senior agency, something about Elder Abuse. So that woman actually took it upon herself to go speak with my uncle. It was awful, I was so scared he'd come after me.

But in the end, he did move out and I did sell Gram's house and moved her to an adult home, but he was so pissed he and my mother took the furnace out of her home.
Yes! He stole the furnace.

Believe it or not!
My family should be on Jerry Springer!

Ending.....
My uncle died of a heart attack less than a year later.

Gram lived for 4 more years.:)

It's a very close tie between Book 6 and Book 3; those two have the tightest narrative structure and were the best edited books of the series. I love the impact of the mystery that unravels throughout Book 3 and I love all the Voldemort backstory and Harry's maturation in Book 6.

Which is your favorite?

I'm so excited that Book 7 is being published but I'm a little sad too; it's rare to see this kind of phenomena in the publishing world and I doubt anything like this will ever come along again in our lifetimes.

Jay and I don't have kids but our 9 year-old neice is coming with me the get the book at Midnight up at Borders. She told me, "Aunt B, you'd better make some coffee if we're going to stay up all night reading." :rotfl2:

My favourite would be between 4 and 6 even though I do love the Time Travel aspect to 3. I love how all the books intertwine and how a small aspect of one book becomes so critical in a different book.

That was a great quote from your neice - I have a really busy day on the 21st and I am going to feel compelled to stay up all night too.

I like Book 4 a lot, too, even though it needed another session with the editorial staff. I loved all the stuff with Mad-Eye Moody - what a great character!

Lily (my niece) is so excited ... she's even going to dress up like Hermione. She wants me to dress up too, but I don't have anything HP related and something tells me wearing my Minnie Mouse costume from last Halloween wouldn't be at all appropriate. ;)

i just may have to step up to the plate for that one because they call me mr oct anyway:thumbsup2
now we can work out the details of the GIRLS OF THE KK calendar:cheer2:
who wants to be first?:rolleyes1

SHe has a Hermione costume - very cool.

Hermione is a great role model for girls - smart, hard working, but still beautiful and fun. I am so glad that her character has evolved the way it did.

Hi everyone!

I hope you are all doing well, enjoying your summers. I am so far out of the cruise thread there's no way I'll ever catch up. I wanted to stop by and say that I did sign up for the Dis tag but I don't think I can pull my part together. If I am taking up a spot that someone else would want and do better at than me, would it be bad if I backed out? There's just too much going on right now and the cruise has become one of the last things on my To-Do list.

I'll try to re-join the thread soon, hopefully.

Abby

Ok, I've stalled enough, must make dinner again.

It never ends!:headache:

Oh, to be on that cruise and have someone cook for me for every meal and put my napkin on my lap too!:thumbsup2

are scott and i the only ones to work the midnight shift?
i started working it when dd was 2 so we could keep her home with no daycare and have been working it for 18 years now:eek:
maybe thats why robin and i get along so well, im not home at nite:laughing:

Scott works 6 pm to 6 am, so with commute time it is 5 pm to 7 am. He has been working this shift for 9 years. It does work well for daycare purposes. We only need daycare one day a week.

Do you think they might think it's a little creepy if I start taking pictures of them? I could always say they were for insurance purposes, right? ;)

All you have to do is go out and take pictures if they ask say you are taking pics of the roof being redone. For insurance or just the purpose of having them on hand if you ever sell the house.

Zachary just suggested we invite the roofers in to eat their lunches in our air-conditioning. :thumbsup2 LADIES, what do you think? Do you think that would go over well with my DH?

All you have to tell your DH is that Zachary felt bad that they had to eat their lunch out in the heat so he suggested you invite them in. Since you are trying to raise him to be considerate of others you felt that it would be a mixed message to Zachary if you told him no. So you are setting a good example for him.

I wonder ifthat is a BOY thing - Spencer is a real exhibitionist too - he loves it when people see his BUTT!!!

Goes both ways, our youngest DD is also the same way. I have to force her to get dressed so she is not running around showing people her butt.
