Chris - by the way...dont look in your steamer trunk on day 7 just after breakfast.:rolleyes1

Or if you do just pass me in a bottle of water;) :lmao:

After a week on this ship, I doubt I could fit in the steamer trunk! Or even the closet for that matter! Maybe, in the bathtub! :lmao:

Hey all. who are you guys using for rental cars? we are staying at pop century and need to get to the port Sat morning. We have looked into Tiffany Towncars. But if we could rent a car for a lot less than that will be the way to go. do you have to go pick up the car or will they transport it to you? thanks

Lori,

We are using Budget. We looked into Florida Tours for a ride from the airport Hyatt to the Port. It would've cost us $100.00 plus a tip for just the two of us. Then since the Hyatt went up in price so much we opted for the cheaper way out and rented a car for us and DD's luggage (:lmao: ) and then staying in CB. We saved ourselves almost $100.00 just doing that.

We will pick up our car at the airport. I don't believe Budget will deliver one to Pop.

I often thought it would be nice if some car rental place would come up with a way to drop our rentals off at the Port. They could figure out how to get them back.:drive:

Would anyone here like to see our Plankton movie? Jay made it back in November and we've just now figured out how to upload it to Youtube...

It's got some spoilers - there are pictures of things to come that I haven't covered in my trip report yet, but it is pretty funny and if you guys would be interested in seeing it I will post a link here as well as in the TR.

Just let me know.

Thanks - now you may return to your kruise-talk. ;)

My Fellow Wisconsinites:

Remember my quest of a few weeks ago? I tried all the places you told me to try and came out empty handed. Today we tried the airport, Wheel and Sprocket, Wares, The Wisconsin Store at Mayfair, Spencers and Bartz (honk!!). Nothing!!

I did find a replacement item and bought that. I guess I'll try the State Fair this year. I may even call the Fair office on Monday to see if they can tell me the name of the vendor that sells what I'm looking for. If they're local, I'll give them a call.

Geeez! Put me on a mission and I won't give up. :scared1:

We are dropping a car off in the parking lot, it doesnt take long does it? We're keeping and paying for it for the whole time we're on the ship... It wasnt too much more expensive than hiring, dropping back and re-hiring and it saved the hassle of it all.

I've never parked at port, but I would think it is at least $10 per day. Plus, to hold the card for an extra week would probably be at least $100 more. So, about $170 more at least.

In Key West I have heard about key lime pie on a stick - anyone had this and is it good?

This answer is from Suz who is sitting right next to me.

KERMIT'S!

No need to go anywhere else for Key Lime Pie. It is $4 there and she says it is Delish.

I had the pie there and it was great. I may actually take a whole pie back on the boat if they let me. Figure we're there on Sunday, I'd be able to have a piece every day this trip.

We thought the shopping in Key West was typical of a lot of American tourist traps... tacky and junk-filled for the most part with lots of t-shirts for sale (most of which you wouldn't wear in public unless you were drink off your a$$).

So we shouldn't have DIS tag until after we stop in KW. :lmao:

But there were also some stores that were kind of cool to wander around in. We liked the Tortuga Rum store and we found a store that was dedicated to selling stuff for people and their pets. That's the place that we found super-potent catnip cigars for our handsome kitty. :thumbsup2

Not sure if it is true, but we heard Tortuga was actually Grand Cayman before the British owned it. It means something like "turtle" or something to do with turtles. :confused3

Hey, is anyone planning on the Palo brunch? I forgot, what days do they usually do that on the Western itin? Jeff - I'm sure you'll know the answer to this one. I think you've even answered it before!

Someone post a link to a calendar calculator. Can't remember who. If someone could add it to the Yahoo site, that would be great.

My calculations would be:

105 day: July 7
90 day: July 22
75 day: Aug 6

Please let me know if it doesn't look right.

HI SUZ!!!!!!

Glad you're cruising with us.

The insurance etc is quite expensive, but the cost of peace of mind and less hassle is priceless as far as Neil is concerned:lmao: - I'd be wanting to get up at 3am if w had a csr to return etc, this way he gets to sleep in til 6am:lmao:

Kernits:thumbsup2 - directons please? A whole pie sopunds like a great idea - I usually do this with a 12 portion cheesecake so I'll have no problem with a key lime pie

Thabks Suz - I might even share if I'm feeling really generous!:goodvibes

I updated the Argie Bargie with the Plankton video, but because that's a long way for some of you to travel just to see further proof of how demented Jay and I are here's another link:

Plankton Takes on the World

Off to view later:thumbsup2

We are using AVIS this time, we used ALAMO last time, and they were a pain with extra charging. We found Budget rental by the port so easily, that they allowed us to follow them into the actual port, as we has whizz by and got a bit lost! could see the bloddy boat, but couldnt get to it ! :lmao: all the time I was nagging, "come one Wayne I want a number one boarding card!":rotfl2:

Not sure where AVIS is by the port?

Jeff as a repeat cruiser I can book at 90 days out?.. 22nd July... .what time in the Uk please? Someone on another board thought at 11pm the day previous ? Ie Sat 21st???:confused3 :confused3

Palo question

Should we do Palo for brunch or afternoon tea?:confused3 The only thing I really want to try is the tiramsu and choc souflle (sp?) Ok thats 2 thing s:) I dont think these will be out for tea or brunch, but Wayne doesnt want to pack formal wear,so other meals are out. I will this cruise however ask my servers to obtain some Tiramsu for me, :) last 4 night cruise I hinted loads, but sadly we only ever got what we actually ordered from the menu. I had reas so much on here about them nipping off to get things you fancied, but this never happend for us.
