October 2015 Check-In Thread

Holy moly! I just looked at the weather report for Disneyland and it's supposed to be highs of 86-87 degrees with 47-48% humidity! Looks like we'll be bringing our Frogs Toggs with us to keep cool.

Does anyone use Instagram or Twitter? I'm still learning how to tag pics, but I saw another month use a hashtag to search for pics from the group. I'll be posting under #OctDis15 feel free to use the same tag

Hmm, yeah, on the weather, we've been watching it for the last week (our trip is just October 3-4). It's kind of depressing. The heat we can handle, but the humidity is another story. My stepmother is 85 years old and this will likely be her last trip as her health is failing her, so we're very worried that if it's too hot/humid, she will pass out or get sick. If it's that hot/humid, I guess we'll be spending a lot of time in the indoor shows/attractions. I live not so far away though and I will say the weather in general is extremely variable this time of year, so who knows? Maybe the weather will change for the better? Fingers crossed?

I got my daughter's Vanellope costume all sorted out. Hoping my husband orders the rest of what we need for our boys' costumes (Wreck It Ralph and Fix It Felix). Otherwise, thankfully we have alternates (super heroes). I know we aren't going during the Halloween Party, but we always let our little ones dress up anyway. I can't decide which Disneybound outfit I'm wearing yet. Trying to work in a red shirt since it's Gay Days and I'm an ally (my moms have been married for 15 years so we're surprising them--they know we're going but they don't know about the event), but if it's going to be super hot, I may just go with my standard summer shorts and tank top.

So excited to be going! Only a little over a week left!

Humidity! wah, thought we'd escape it in California lol guess I better rethink what I pulled to pack for trip today. Since such a drought in the area, can I count on no rain?

Pirate costumes will stay @ home & once again we will sport our Jason (Friday the 13th) hockey jerseys, since they're mesh & cool.

Will be spending part of our trip in the area from 10/2 to 10/7

10/2 - USH - HHN
10/3 - Knotts - Scary Farm
10/4 - 10/7 (MNSSHP on 10/5, splurged on the Mystical Bayou offering)

I was there over Gay Days 3 years ago. It was over 103 degrees.
Halloween costumes did not stay on long.

There's no rain forecast for that time frame as of now. We've got the El Nino nonsense this year though, so we've had a few freak storms caused by moisture from tropical storms/hurricanes in Mexico. You're probably safe. You can always get a poncho or garbage bag if it changes. The humidity won't be any worse than what you're used to (from where your profile says you're from at least). It's just a lot for the typical Californian who is used to dry air this time of year. It usually isn't half as bad as Florida or Hawaii.

For packing, I'd recommend shorts and a t-shirt or tank top for the day, a lightweight sweater for morning and evening, and some pants to change into at night in case it cools off as it can get into the high 50s/low 60s if you're there at 10PM or later.

Our Costco Travel package arrived today for our Mother/Daughter trip 10/10-10/12!! We are so excited & happy to hear the weather is looking good :-)

yes, it gets humid in western PA, not florida humid, but challenging none the less. Vegas will be over 100 degrees but it's dry heat at least.

when i did pull up the temp i noticed low 60's, will throw in a hoodie and soldier on with shorts since we'll be out until 2 am a few days.

thanks

We're flying out of SeaTac in the early hours of October 6th - my 59th birthday! It will be 3 of us old bats, all born in 1956 - my best friend I've known since kindergarten and another mutual friend we've both known for 20+ years. I haven't been to DL in 3 years, and none of us have ever been in October. Can't wait to see all the decor! Five day park hoppers and the 6th day is MHP on 10/7. Six glorious days in the parks with no children or grandchildren!

We have lunch res at BTM Ranch BBQ on my b-day, MHP the 7th, Wine Country + WOC the 8th, Carnation Cafe lunch (loaded baked potato soup!) on the 9th, Blue Bayou + F! on the 10th, and a plan-free Sunday until we have to say goodbye to Walt at around 3:00.

We leave October 10....2 weeks from today, and our ABD southern CA trip starts Oct 11. Right now we are stuck at home this whole weekend....soooo want to go out! It is high 70s and lovely!

we live in southern NJ and the roads are closed around us due to the Pope's visit.

I have been watching the weather. I think low 80s is perfect for southern CA...it seems that is typical this time of year...no?

I know it's getting hotter every time I check! I just ordered a couple Frog Toggs chilly pads for our family to try. I always look at them before we go somewhere, but never tried them. I'd rather have an option to cool down than have heat exhaustion! Thanks for the suggestions. Going to unpack the sweatshirt and just take my fleece jacket for the evenings. We'll see what the weather brings!

The forecast for mid-October is warmer than I though it'd be! But being from Florida, we will find it tolerable; it's not as bad as July-August here.

I asked this on the Fantasmic superthread and have not received any replies. I don't know if there are any DLR vets on this thread...if there are, do any of you know roughly when FP for the second showing of Fantasmic run out on busy days? Our first day is Oct 11, the CHOC walk day. I did not know that when we booked or we would've come a week sooner or later! I've read it is going to be very busy that day. We are taking the Welcome to Disneyland tour which concludes around 1 pm. Will that likely be too late to obtain a FP for the second showing?

We leave for DL on Saturday! YAY! I told DH that we'll pack a lunch to eat on the road. It'll save us some time and $$. Hoping that we can hit the road by 8-8:30 am-ish on departure day. I've got our suitcases out, too! Given the weather, I'm not so sure that my kids will want to wear their fancy Elsa dresses though.

Holy heat! When I last looked at accuweather yesterday it said 84, 85 for next weekend. Now it says 94!!! UGh! Shouldn't be a surprise to me though. We go this weekend every year and its always around 100. I was kind of hoping..... ya know.

So I shouldn't bother straightening my hair then, and just hope for the best with hair gel to keep my frizzies down? I look like a dandelion gone to seed in the humidity if I don't use anything in my hair.

I'm getting nervous now - if our BBB appointment for 2 kids for the works starts at 3:15 and our Goofy's dinner is at 5:25.... we SHOULD have enough time to get from point A (BBB) to point B (DLH), right? It's about an hour and a half for BBB and castle, and then we can take the monorail to DTD, or can we take it to DLH?
