I'm on this thread because I'm curious: If the September specials become "official" May 9th, does that mean (historically) we can anticipate an October special being leaked/released by early June? Thanks in advance! I've been lurking on the boards for some time now - you ladies and gentlemen are so helpful!

No one really knows. But we can hope.

No, the October - December Free Dining dates are not released each year until July, sometimes August.

You already received answers to your question, but I just wanted to say :welcome: to posting!

Quick question: if I book, do you generally have to pay in full or a down payment? If they add free dining during my stay dates, and I want to add it after i've booked, how does that generally work?

To book a WDW vacation package all you have to put down is a minimum $200 deposit and the balance is not due until 45 days before check in.

To add a FD discount to an existing reservation, you would simply call Disney Reservations and they will add the discount and credit you the difference. Please note though, having an existing reservation does not guarantee or "save" you a Free dining discount on your room. Each resort is only allotted so many free dining rooms/discounts per promo. It's always best to have a backup room category or resort when adding a FD discount or booking a FD package.

I know lots of people are hoping for free dining, but we are just staying for one night in October for MNSSHP. Anyone care to guess on the chances of having a discount on room only? Also, if I book now, but a discount does become available, am I able to still receive the discount?

Thank you!

There are usually room discounts offered for the same dates as free dining discounts. The second and third week of October are, generally blacked out for all discounts. If discounts are released for your dates you can always call and have them add the discount code and they will credit you the difference.

You can always apply any new discounts to your current reservations.

We are going 10-5 to 10-12. Anyone know if there will be any large groups there during that time? We have never stayed at a value and are considering it this trip but do not want to be there if a bunch of cheerleaders or student groups coming.

The second and third weeks of October are generally blacked out for discounts due to the large number of school that are on fall break and the large amount of business conventions that they have at WDW during that timeframe. You will probably get lucky with a check in date of October 5 for a free dining discount, but I would expect moderate crowd levels, as opposed to low crowd levels, for that timeframe.

We will be there during that time frame. My husband has an annual conference. They are taking up the entire EPCOT resort complex, including the Swan and Dolphin. All of those are sold out at our convention rate, with spillover to the GF, Poly, WL & AKL. We ended up at the Poly.

EPCOT is usually a little more crowded due to F&WF, but it's never summer crowded. I'd go ahead and get your dining reservations, if you haven't already.

Thanks for the info. I had heard the Garner group would be there at Epcot resorts. That explains why I couldnt get a standard room at WL or AKL.

So if free dining is going on during our check in date of Oct 5 will it apply to our entire reservation or just the days during the free dining dates?

Your checkin date must fall within the free dining days and it would apply for 14 days after.

So if you checkin on the last day of free dining you would have it for your entire visit.
