***October 2012 Thread*** MNSSHP + Food & Wine - Does It Get Any Better?

Just booked my trip! Arriving 10/31! And we decided to stay at Art of Animation! So excited about that, love doing something new and different when I go!

Won't be doing MNSSHP but we will DEF be doing the Food and Wine Festival, that's basically the reason we are going that time of year. The EFWF is srsly my fave Disney event

:cool1:

I'm just now getting to the party. (I checked the pages for 2 weeks after I booked my ressie to make sure that I didn't post this already.) Better late than never, I guess.

We'll be at Kidani Village on Oct. 12 and then moving to Bay Lake Tower with a MK view for Oct. 13-20.

It'll be myself & DH (52 and celebrating our 22nd anniversary), DD27, and DGD2. We've made ADRs with the intention of adding DxDP to the night at Kidani (I think we can do this with DVC staying on points with a separate reservation number) and then using QSDP and TiW for the week at BLT.

I just booked my first EVER Disney trip. We will arrive 10/20 and leave 10/26. I have never been so excited about a vacation before in my life!!!

:yay::yay: Congratulations on your first Disney Trip!!! Welcome to the Disboards!!

I'm jumping on the October 2012 train! I'm Kristen :wave2: and would qualify for a board position if a Walt Disney World Anonymous was available!

October is our favorite time of year to go though our fall trip was initially planned for the 2nd week of November this year. I wasn't able to get the dates off from work and managed to completely finagle every reservation and detail to cater to our new dates, October 23-30, within a morning's time! That said, it was a long morning.. :faint:

But all's well that end's well: we'll be there for MNSSHP on the 28th and, on our arrival day, DD and I will be heading straight to Epcot from MCO. Why is that? My favorite band of 15 years, Hanson, announced their ETTB dates just 2 hours after I finished switching our dates! :woohoo: Mom, Auntie and Grandma can check in to the resort whilst DD and I are singing WAY too loud for own good. And yes, Hanson IS DD's favorite band as well -- just ask the girls in line with us last year! I had the only 2-year-old who could belt out "MMMBop" word for word.

We are going to be there the same time as you, 22-30th! Good job getting all those ADR's straightened out, it's hard but worth it.:thumbsup2 Where are you guys gonna be staying?

You're not the only Hanson fan on this thread, I am sure the others will be along soon enough to join in your excitement!:cool1:

Myself, DH and DD (5.5) will be at the BC CL 9/27-10/6/2012! We love the Mickey's Halloween and Love Food and Wine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We got the military discount through 9/30 and now we need the AP discount for 10/1-10/6, so we are anxiously awaiting the release :flower3:.

Disney is the happiest place on earth :lovestruc.

So, about the food and wine festival, I read in my planning book that there will be food from over 60 different countries there and that you can try a "bite" for around $4-6. Is that the case, that it's like the Bite of Epcot (kind of like our Bite of Seattle, or Taste of Chicago) with the food??

Not quite 60...last year there were 22 countries and one state (Hawaii) represented, plus a few random kiosks such as Cheese; Desserts & Champagne and four different beer locations.

Here's a link with lots of photos and information from last year's event.

Sounds like it would be similar to the events you mention above...small tasting portions, ranging from bite-size (the Seared Sea Scallop with Kumara-Red Curry Puree and Apple Radish Salad @ the New Zealand booth) to almost appetizer-sized portions (the delicious Lobster & Scallop Fisherman's Pie @ the Ireland booth).

DH and I 'dined' at the Festival on three separate evenings last year, hitting up half of the kiosks one day, the other half the next day. Then on our last evening in the World, we went back and re-visited our favorites. I never did get around to totaling up how much $$ we spent, but we did re-load our gift card several times. We really enjoyed it, and look forward to it again this fall.

PS - be sure to pick up a Passport and get it stamped at each kiosk you visit...it makes a nice keepsake.

Hi! I'm joining this thread!!! My sister, nephew, and I are going to be coming Oct 10-16 and staying at POFQ! So excited!

Add us to the October club!! We will be there Sept. 30th-Oct.6th. We're booked at the Wilderness Lodge with free dining. I was lucky enough to have a a pin number for the FD! We're trying to decide which night we should do MNSSHP...Thursday 10/4 or Friday 10/5. I would just assume the Thursday party would be less busy than the Friday. We are also celebrating birthdays that week..mine is the 6th and my daughter is the 8th. We'll be checking out on my birthday, which I hate to do, but since we'll be celebrating the whole week I'll be OK!!

We just booked flights and extended our trip by 2 days (we were originally going to drive). Awesome price through delta: $195 round trip out of detroit!

Squeeeee!

I haven't been on the boards since I got our ADRs made at the 180 day mark... I must say that being back on here gets me SO EXCITED once again about our upcoming trip! WOO HOO! :hyper: Disney, here we come!

:hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper:

DH and I just booked airfare today, so I am officially going to F&W October 5-9 :hyper: I have never been before so I am looking forward to it!

We have not been to WDW since December 2009. In the meantime though we have been to Disneyland Paris and Disneyland/California Adventure...as well as Europe in general, historical stuff on the east coast, a non-Disney cruise, Vegas several times...and while all fun I can say that nothing compares to WDW!! I am so excited to be going back, and F&W is something we've always wanted to do! I also want to see all the Halloween stuff.

I'm happy to be back on the dis, but I must say I am rusty! I know the 180 day mark has passed and the only dining ressies I've been able to make are at 9:30 pm! :faint: I gotta get on the ball and begin my obsessive research! :surfweb: I've missed it to be honest!

I'm anticipating crazy crowds as we are going Columbus Day weekend, but we were in the Magic Kingdom on Christmas Day in '09, so I think we can handle it :rotfl2:

Now that I'm back from my other vacation, I can focus all my energy on October and Disney.

I need to get costumes. And I need to work on our packing list. Anyone think of anything that should be on the packing list that they always seem to forget? (No kids here, so don't worry about any of those things.)
