***October 2012 Thread*** MNSSHP + Food & Wine - Does It Get Any Better?

So now that the hours are out, what are everyone's plans? I finally got it down on paper and would love to share it with my fellow Oct dissers. Tell me what y'all think...

Arrive 29th Dinner Liberty Tree
30th AK and dinner at Via Napoli
1st EP and dinner at San Angel Inn
2nd MK dinner at 1900 Park Fare
3rd DHS and dinner at Akershus
4th play and rest before MNSSHP that night, dinner at Crystal Palace
5th play day dinner at Coral Reef
6th play day dinner at Wolfgang Puck
7th returning home but we'll get a late flight so we can go to MK in the morning

I'd love to hear what y'all think, the good, the bad and the ugly :goodvibes

Congrats on your anniversary! We'll be at the world the same dates as you. Here's hoping for great weather and low crowds! :cool1:

Thanks! We've been twice before in October... it's great! I've got my fingers crossed this year will be the same it's been previously - fabulous weather and manageable crowds! :thumbsup2

One and I forgot to ask.... How to F&W work? Are there booths everywhere? With All the food we get with DDP, how do y'all eat from the booths? :goodvibes

I'm wondering this, too! We've been twice during October, but have never sampled any of the F&W vendors! I want to on my anniversary trip, since it'll just be me and DH.

We're In!!!:yay: Oct 13 -20 doing a split stay AKV-Kidani and BLT! So excited this will be our first time for MNSSHP!!!:hmghost: And our baby's first trip...its going to be so MAGICAL!!! Now we just need the next 7 months to hurry up and fly by so we can get our Disney Fix!!!

If you're on the dining plan you can use your snack credits to eat at the different kiosks. It's fantastic! Also sign up for the food and beverage seminars. They were informative, fun and delicious.

What time are you planning to get dinner at Crystal Palace on MNSSHP? Remember that in previous years you are allowed AROUND 4:30 PM into MK if you have your MNSSHP ticket. There are a lot of unique photo opportunities if you will be taking advantage of those. The longest line I think was for the dwarfs.
Just noticed none of your park days include AK?

Can you tell me more about these "unique photo opportunities"?

This will be our first MNSSHP and we had thought we'd have dinner at Cape May (since we are staying at YC) then go back to our room to get into costume before heading over to the party, so we probably wouldn't be there early. Should we reconsider this and just do a late lunch that day instead of a dinner so we can get to the party early? Or will we still be able to get photos later?

You can actually get into MK at 4pm with just your party ticket. The official party begins at 7pm, and there are several meet and greet changes that take place. The two major M&G lines are the 7 dwarves and the Prince and Princesses. Last year, the normal daytime princess M&G was switched from Cinderella, Belle and Aurora to Rapunzel/Flynn, Cindy/Prince and Snow White/prince. Standing in one line got you M&Gs with all 3 consecutively. If you are interested in either of those two M&Gs, you will want to be in line no later than 6:30. Some other special M&Gs are Jack Sparrow and of course, the villans. The villans will do 10-15 minutes of M&Gs after each stage show performance, so if those are important to you, don't wait until the last show as it may take a couple of tries to get your photo (generally no autographs to keep the line moving). You can certainly get the unique photos later in the evening, but the dwarves line can get to a 2 hour wait, so it is best to get there early.

Something else to consider is if there are any normal M&Gs that you want to do while in costume prior to the start of the party. Last year for us, we knew we needed to see Woody, Jessie, and Buzz right away because they wouln't be available during the party. We entered the park at 4pm, did the M&Gs we needed and had a quick meal at Cosmic Ray's and then got into the princess/prince line at 6:30.

The best thing you can do is come up with a list of priorities for your party night, and then after the first party of the year, all of the M&G schedules and locations will be posted here on the boards. It will make the planning much easier at that point.

I definitely would try for an early ADR, or just do a quick service @MK in between preparty stuff and party stuff. The party tickets are pricey, but you can get more for your money with a good plan in place.

Thank you smitch! Since we've never been, I have no idea what it all entails. I'm going to have to do some serious research on this and reconsider a few things. It is just hubby and I, but we are like 2 kids when it comes to Disney and I was thinking we'd probably be disappointed if we missed out on some stuff. Sounds like some changes are in order.

Good thing we've still got plenty of time before we have to make ADR's.

Thanks for the info, Dee! I'm thinking about looking into one of the food/drink seminars as a surprise for my DH.

Anyone know of a website that shows approximate time it takes to get from one location to another using the Disney Buses? Usually don't hop much but with MNSSHP going on three days while we are in WDW this time, and trying to get in Wishes, Fantasmic! and the party it's looking like we might utilize our hoppers more than usual. I hate the thought of losing a couple hours a day on a bus though.

None that I know of, but do keep in mind you have to tack on at least five to seven minutes at the beginning for bus loading times.

I'd say budget at least 30 minutes minimum for bus rides, just to be safe.

Just noticed that a lot of your days you plan to stay up late and then start your next day early in the morning. Are you ok with so much in the day and then having to get up early. I know this was my plan last year.. but we were so tired sometimes in the morning that it was hard to get my 2 adult friends up and out the door by 8:30 am

We will be staying at POFQ 10/7/12 - 10/13/12
This is a three family trip. My family, SIL Family, FIL family. So some stuff is not nailed down yet. I've been more recently than others so we are doing more of what they want to do.

Here's our plan

Monday 10/8
HS. Lunch at Sci Fi. (even though there is evening EMH. I think there is no ideal park for this day since it's a holiday)

Tuesday 10/9
Epcot. Lunch at sit down inside Mexico. Dinner at Garden Grill

Wednesday 10/10
MK. Only night of MSEP during our stay. Lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern.

Thursday 10/11
AK. Lunch at Yak and Yeti - then NAP - then MNSSHP

Friday 10/12
Friday Free Day. Each family will do what they want. We plan to eat lunch at Via Napoli, shop in Epcot. Spend some time in MK.

Well, admittedly the EMH Nights and Downtown Disney Nights on Monday-Thurs. are likely just filler to round out the day. Depending on how exhausted we are we might just skip it.

I'll admit I was bit like an 8-year old on our last trip though...out of bed at 7AM, dressed for 7:30, and pounding on the door of my sister and brother-in-law's room next door at 7:35 trying to get them to do the same.

Did some calculations and it looks like we'll have an extra Quick-Service Meal left on Saturday before we leave as well. I'm thinking of asking my sister to move the flight depart time back to 5PM so we can hit Downtown Disney for lunch one last time.
