October 2012 Code Watch!!!

We are thinking about going back in October 2012 since we are going to Universal in June. I was thinking about getting AP's but if Free Dining is offered, it may be a better deal. Does anybody know what the AP discounts for hotels usually are?

This past year was around 30-35% off the room for deluxe. Check mousesavers historical discounts.
Depending on the resort level and number of people on the reservation, free dining may be the best deal. It's so individual!

I'm also considering upgrading to an AP, for myself only, on our Oct trip. There were no public room only discounts last month. I wouldn't be surprised if that is true for next year, too. I'm going to keep my options open and hope SOME kind of discount is offered!

I have an annual pass that expires 10/26/12. I hope to use it to get a discount or take free dining if offered. It still costs us a few hundred dollars for tips and extra TS meals but I come out much better than when I had no discount. First time with annual pass and couldn't get it registered on wdw website yet ,so not sure which will be a better discount.

Just decided to go back to WDW !! It has been a couple of years and I hope I can catch back up on my planning skills. We have never been in October. We usually go in December. But my DS will turn 9 on Oct 23rd .

Hoping for free dining. And thinking about staying at the Boardwalk. It will be our first Deluxe resort.

Is it rainy in October?

If you are going to stay at a deluxe a good room discount is actually a much better deal than free dining (just a heads up to do the math if you are lucky enough to have to chose between either).

We have been twice in October, for a week each time. Both trips it was warm/hot and sunny, with only two days of rain between the two trips. The MK also looks great all decked out for Halloween!

We are planning on going September 29th through October 6th, but I am sure if a good enough deal came out for October that wasn't available for September then we would switch to all October!

Me too! We just found out when DH's vacation is and I've been on a high ever since. I spend a LOT of time online, running figures, thinking about touring plans, and going back and forth on extras. The only thing I haven't done yet is book it, but I'll be doing that next month.

Well, they have discounts out thru June, so Oct isn't too far behind. We have never been in Oct & I am excited to see all the fall decorations. Does WDW do a holiday version of Haunted Mansion w/Jack Skellington like DL does?

No, only DisneyLand does the holiday version of Haunted Mansion.

I found a PIN code for next Oct in my email today!!! I just booked our trip w/it & saved $900!! I am so excited! The wonderful CM told me that b/c our arrival date was on Columbus Day weekend, we couldn't use the code. BUT he kept trying & got the discount for us.
If a better discount comes out later that saves us more, then I'll switch it. I am happy that at least we have some savings!
So we booked AKL Club Level for 10 days!!! I love my DH for agreeing to CL for 10 days!! Now I'm ready to plan our days & ADRs!!!

Here's a question - the last PIN email I received after I had already booked my vacation. I had no trouble applying it to my reservation, but my question is: is there a better likelihood of getting a PIN email if you've already booked? Or is it just completely random?

I have received pin codes in the past, but never w/a trip already booked. The ones I get thru email are usually after pricing out trips on Disney's website & saving them. Then I get some in the mail if it's been a while since our last trip & we haven't booked anything yet. I have also received a few pin codes thru the mail for my mom b/c she went w/us back in 2008.
I use discounts every WDW trip, but this is the 1st time I have been able to apply a pin code that works for when we are going. BTW, I priced out 3 trips for Nov on the website last month & only received an email telling me to book, but no pin code for those. Then last week I priced out 2 trips for Oct & I got the pin code yesterday for Oct.

I have a question about your code. What are the exact dates in October that it's good for? You mentioned part of your trip being on Columbus Day weekend, which is our normal time in disney, so I'm curious about your deal. Thanks and congrats!

Interesting. I have a saved package for a possible trip in Feb, maybe I'll save a couple for Oct and see if I can get PINs for either (or both!). I also ordered another trip planning DVD since it seems that's what did it for us last time.

The dates on the pin code were Oct. 1-4 & Oct. 8-20, 2012 for deluxe resorts. The value & moderates dates went to Oct. 31st. Columbus day weekend was blocked, but somehow he got it for us. He said he wanted to give us some magic & kept trying different things til it went thru.

Actually, I'm new to CL - grew up in Elmhurst, so not really a stretch.

Good to hear about the dates for that code. I meant to ask that question! We're planning Oct 3 thru 9, but are somewhat flexible. We've finally decided (read: I've finally convinced DH) to spring for a moderate, so I'm keeping fingers crossed!
