October 2012 Code Watch!!!

I am hoping for a code too!!!! This year I would LOVE to stay at the BC so % off would be great! We plan to do QS so it works for my family of 5 + 1 cousin

Hi all. Family of five with 3 sons (13, 12, and 5) planning our first trip for 10/7/12 - 10/13/12. Hoping to find discounts as well.

Joining in ! :cool1: We decided to go in October again, just haven't decided on which week or our resort yet ! Would love to get another 40% pin code like I got last year !

Why am I not getting email notifications for this board? That's how it works, right? I just switched it to daily email notification from instant. Is everyone else receiving emails?

Are people really getting codes for October? What are they and do you know what dates are blocked out? Any help would be appreciated. :)

Correct me if I am wrong but from what I understand.......

You only get notifications when a new post is added and you visit the board. For example - if there is a new post on Monday morning, you will get an e-mail notification. If there were 17 posts after that new post - you will not get another notification until you visit the board. Also, when you visit the boards, make sure you are logged in otherwise it won't recognize that you have visited the board. DH has our computer to clear all login information and I have to log in each time otherwise it won't send me updates.

Yes. I got a mailing, which seems to have been specifically sent to me because I had indicated that I was interested in visiting in October when I filled out something, probably a DVD request. It said "we're happy to hear that you are thinking of visiting in October." It did indicate on the mailing most of the month of October, but when I called, I was told that the code was actually good for the entire year and that the discounts varied from 10% up to 35% depending on when and where we stayed.

Thanks for that info. I'm off to order my DVD!

I got a pin code today for October. It looks like it's available on Sundays through Thursday for most all of the month. (Looks like 10/4, Friday nights, and Sunday nights are the only nights not covered) It's only 10%, but that's better than nothing I suppose.

Forgive me if this sounds dumb, for I am new at planning a Disney vacation.

My question is do I use it? More specefic, if I reserve with it and a better discount comes out as a special offer on their website, can I modify my reservation to use the special offer rather than my pin code?

I have researched enough to understand you can modify your reservation to apply better discounts, but I wasn't sure if using a pin code "locked" you into no modifications or something..

Looks like a lot of us are heading to WDW this Oct 13-20. I have signed up for the DVD, put in my "interested in Oct" info. This is a first for my fam - DH:yay:, myself :lovestruc, my 8 yo DSpirate:, and my 6 yo DDprincess:!! Plus we have grandpa and grandma coming with us! Looking for as much info/help/strategy and discount as possible! Thanks!

Not sure if this help...I also got a 30% off pin. I did not order the DVD. However, I did go and save vacation packages for October. It was after I saved a 2 week long trip that I go a code. Hope that helps!

Good Luck & a little pixie dust!:wizard:

Yes, use it. You aren't guaranteed of getting anything else. More than likely something better will show up BUT......2011, I waited with the confidence that I would get a good discount . Not only did I not have a discount - my resort booked up and instead of putting my family of 5 at POR in one room, I had to book 2 connecting rooms at ASMo.

There was a huge technology conference at the Epcot resorts during our week and they blacked out all discounts to the general public. I couldn't believe it - Columbus Day and the week following was given free dining. The week after "Columbus Day week" was a black out time for discounts due to this conference.

To top everything off, over 2 months out when I gave up hope of any discount - I went to book and POR was completely booked up. The conference had blocks of rooms blocked off at different resorts and POR was a "conference resort". I already had my ADR's and never imagined that POR would be 100% booked for Oct by the beginning of August.

They will always change your reservation and apply a better discount. If all the discounted rooms are booked up at your resort (not likely but a possibility) when you go to change - you might have to change resorts but everything (any money paid down, dining reservations etc....) will stay in place. If you are paid in full, they will credit your credit card the difference.

Oh that could be how I got mine too. I had at least 2 trips "saved" and I think I have 3 now.

I think mine ended up being only 10% too, but my TA applied it. Every little bit helps. And if something better does come out, you can always modify again.

My friend got a 30% off PIN for Sept, but we want to go in Oct now. So he tried it for the Oct dates we want, and it worked! As of tonight, we are all booked for a Royal Room at POR for 4 nights! :cool1::goodvibes

I am really hoping for a pin!!! This will be my 6th year in a row going to disney world and all times I have had FD/Room Disc. This year is a bit different though, Our big vacation is scheduled for Dec. 2012...though, for the first time EVER, my husband and I were thinking of doing a mini vacation in October so we still can take our 3 year old son and our approx. 3 month old baby(16 weeks pregnant tomorrow  ) trick or treating at the Magic Kingdom during MNSSHP. Its so hard to justify spending almost the exact same amount on park tickets for a couple days as we will for a lot of days :scared1: , but I am sure I could look past that if I could save some money on a room. A room Disc. or FD would definitely do the trick, so here is to hoping something comes up :worship: I already ordered the DVD, "Saved " some vacations, and even ordered the personalized maps. Let's hope some pixie dust flies my way!! pixiedust:
