October 2012 Code Watch!!!

I already booked and put some money down, but haven't gotten any discounts, so bummed!

I'm tenatively tiptoeing into the thread because DH said today that "maybe" we could go back in October for a belated birthday celebration (we both have "milestone" birthdays this year). We've gone the last two years over Columbus Day weekend and last year he said he wanted to give it a break this year, but now there seems to be a glimmer of hope.

I have been following the thread but haven't posted yet. Excited to report that we got a pin today for 30% off for September! I saved a few vacations and did request a DVD and got the pin today!! Still hoping for free dining but this certainly will help if dining doesn't happen..

We are planning our 2nd trip as a suprise for our 7 year old twins and our dates are pretty open, we were thinking September or October of this year. Wondering if discount will be good if we decide on October instead of September? We will be booking soon.........

Looking forward to our trip - just booked with a 30% PIN for 10/7-10/12. Code said it was valid starting 10/8, but when I called the man I talked to said he would try to get it starting the 7th and it worked. This will be my first trip since 1980.

That is awesome! I would love to get this! I have never received a PIN, so I'm not hopeful. I am planning on 10/6 or 10/7-10/12 and I really need some kind of discount to get my budget where I need it! I wish I could go in Sept (way better deals!), but my kids' fall break is that week! Ugh!

Have you "saved" any trips on the Disney website?
Have you ordered the DVD?

These things can help you to get a PIN Code. I have a few Oct. trips saved and a few weeks ago, I got my PIN code in the mail and it specifically stated "we're glad to hear that you're thinking of visiting us in October."

I have saved and ordered the video, I got a 10% off code, it's nice but I can get a better discount at the Swan and Dolphin. I also want to stay at a deluxe and my code says I have to book before the 20th for the discount, however the mods and the value I have until the 30th.

I was wondering (and a newbie to the world of WDW planning). If I was to get a pin and use it, then free dining comes along...can I get that too? Or will can they reverse and % off from the pin when I book and apply the free dining?
Also, what if I book through a travel agent? I am considering going with AAA and a "magic moments" package they have offered...but that would mean changing off the real dates I want to travel (from sat-sat to mon-mon). So I don't know...my goal is like everyone else...free dining...but not sure how the work of pins and free dining and booked already works. Thank you all in advance.

You can only use one discount at time. So if you book with a pin, then Free Dining comes out, just have your TA switch it for you. Actually, to clarify, you can only use one discount at a time for each reservation you have.
We had to do a split stay because we arrived the day before FD started. But there was also a Room-only discount going on at the same time. We were able to apply the RO discount to our first night's stay, then apply FD to the rest of our stay.

Yes, and yes! I did save a few trips, and I sent away for the DVD, last week. I have saved trips in past years and already have 2 planning DVDs from past years lol. I even did their survey! I think its luck of the draw.

I got a pin today for 20% off ... I called and applied it to our current reservation with no problem. It came by snail mail, and it says game on. AoA wasn't a choice btw

DH and I were originally hoping to do a quick trip in April before our big trip in October, but now October is the only trip on the horizon. We'll be upgrading to Premier APs again in June, so we'll be shopping for an AP discount, too! This will be our first F&W...we can't wait!

We've booked BLT for October 2012 (23-28...before a cruise!) and we really need a pin. Hoping for a 40% off room but FD would be ok too (there are 6 of us going).

Just saved a couple of offers under our two email addys, so crossing my fingers something works!

When should we request the planning dvd? I'm thinking it's better to wait until spring/early summer so we get a pin in July/Aug when they historically come out for Oct. Thoughts?

Great tip....thanks! We booked our trip soooo long ago! I 'm going to go book some dates for April and then cross my fingers!!!!

My parents did get a free dining pin last week. I tried it but it wouldn't let me book it for October. Should I call to try?

I GOT A PIN!!!!!!!!! YAHOO!!!

I got a stay/play/dine pin but it is really just for free Quick service dining! Which is what we wanted so YAY!!!! It is for 10/1 - 10/4 and 10/8 - 10/31.

It does say call about other dates though!

Congrats!! We got a pin that saved us a tiny bit, but my TA said that if we get free dining, it would probably save us more than that original pin, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
