October 2011 Code Watch

Do you just call the normal reservation # to check for a pin? I am starting to get a little impatient now...:dance3:

Fingers crossed....really need the free dining. Doing a mother/daughter vaca with my 14 year old in October. It would lighten the load just abit, and make it that more magical! :hourglass

Hi there just to let everyone know that besides this being the first time on here Me and my wife just got a pin for 10/10/11 -10/31/11. It was for free dineing at a value resort. i did the resevation and saved it, no commitment,:yay: well it worked:drinking1 , cant wait but my wife is more excited

Was this pin sent via EMail or snail mail??

Also for anyone else How late can you wait until you no longer will get a good deal? My wife schedule can change at last minute. In a perfect world the best time for us to schedule our reservations would be mid to late september for a trip disney in mid to late october. I'm afraid that may be too late to get a good deal. I can schedule earlier but take a risk I may have to change the dates.... :confused3

You can book whenever you want. I too am in the same boat. We are looking to go in late Oct. but would really like a discount or I think we'll hold of until Feb. I have NOT booked yet. I am just putting aside the $ and holding it hoping that a deal will come out soon. That way if one does come out and it's less than 45 days out I can just book it and pay for it.
Seeing no deals are out yet for that time frame you won't be loosing a good deal. However if there is a certain resort and room you want you might have to compromise on that if a deal does come out. If you'd rather have the right room at a certain resort rather than a discount than book now. If not just hang in there like the rest of us!!!

I prefer Pop Century I would not expect that to sell out for october but I am a noob what do I know...

it was quick service dining and it was snail mail, still learning the in and outs of this program:confused:

If your looking for FD Pop would be one of the ones to sell out first if it does... I was checking into late Sept and Pop is sold out for the FD deal. I would say just hang in there and keep checking to see if they have released a deal. Then book right away.

Congratulations! Did it come via e-mail or snail mail? so excited for you!

ANOTHER QUESTION for ALL of you:

If I book a room for our desired dates and then a FD promo comes out, can it be applied retro-actively? I am wondering if I should book SOMETHING so we have it.... Although October is not usually super busy.... :surfweb:
The short answer is: maybe. There are only a certain number of rooms available at each resort in each category under any particular promotion. If the package you've booked fits under the promotion, they can modify the package for you to take advantage of it. If it doesn't, you may need to accept certain changes to your package (different resort, different - and perhaps more expensive - category of room, etc).

If you book a room-only and then a package promotion such as FD comes out, the CM must cancel your room-only, refund your deposit and book you a package reservation. Room-only and packages are booked separately, and one cannot turn into the other.

So I should go ahead and book a room and ticket package and then just wait and hope for FD, and cancel by x- date if it doesn't? Is it 90 days out for a full refund? OR, is it better just to wait? I think if there wasn't free dining we'd probably stay off property.

I have been off the boards for awhile, and I feel so out of the loop!

Thoughts? Anyone? :confused3

I'm in the same boat... and need advice from those who know better than I do!

We can afford Pop Century without a discount and currently have a room-only reservation booked. We really want Port Orleans French Quarter, but can only do that with a discount; either a good room-only(30+%) or Free Dining. I can also hold out for an AP discount... I can get the Premiere Pass since my DL AP expires in August, plus we'd save $25 on my WDW ticket by getting an AP.

Jennifer_W and I need the Disboard gurus help!

I'm pretty new here, so I'm still getting the hang of things. Did I understand someone to say I could call the reservations clerk and ask for PIN? We have our trip booked and paid for, but a discount of any kind would be sweet!:cheer2:

Just a heads up on refunds: We realized we did not need DDP, and I changed to regular DP, resulting in a substantial refund. That was mid June, and I have yet to see it hit my account. When I booked the trip, the money came out instantly! Would they just apply it towards the room, so we have credit when we get there?

One of the wonders with credit cards and bank accounts... Quick to take out, slow to put in.

Yes, you can call and ask if there is a PIN code under your name... or anyone else that lives at your address.

If you ever signed up for any WDW travel planning information you might receive a PIN, also booking a vacation, etc. It's really random, though. Some get them, most don't! You can receive them through email or snail mail, but the bonus of calling is sometimes they get thrown out and you don't even know you have one! Call now and if you don't receive one before your vacation starts call again. It can't hurt. On the other hand hopefully a GOOD discount will come out before then!

Good luck! pixiedust:

I notice by your ticker that you are still a little far from your 45 days out final payment date. They may have deducted the refund amount from the total still owed. I would call them to make sure everything is as it should be.:thumbsup2

...and by pin attached to anyone in your house, they mean anyone. we called again yesterday (no luck) and were told the names of everyone in our home, and that none of them had a pin at this time. my wife said "our 2, and 4 year old might have pin's attached to their names?" the cm said, yes, it happens all the time. so make sure you ask for everyone that you've ever put on a past reservation. you never know.

The amount of time it takes for the money to hit your account is controlled by your bank, not Disney - That being said, that seems a little long to be waiting. I would definately call Disney and/or your bank to check on that.
If it is being refunded to a credit card not a bank account, then it can take that long. Disney issues the refund asap, but the credit card can take a billing cycle (or maybe two) before they process it.
If it was through you bank account, I am not sure if they can apply it towards to the room. If it was on a credit card, they won't be able to. Because of security issues, they must refund the money back to the original card.
HTH. :)
