October 2011 Car Rental Rates

:cool1:Woot Woot :cool1:

Finally was able to get below $150! I modified my Alamo reservation 8 days starting 10/14 using the 7014667 and $35 AD2724FZA Insiders codes that now work for my dates. Total of $143.95 for a Standard.

The prices were very high on the car selection page, but when I clicked through I saw the discounts. So make sure you continue to that step to make sure :thumbsup2

Nice, hopefully it continues to drop. :)

My experience with National's Emerald Club is that the spouse is an authorized driver not an additional driver. As an authorized driver I've never had to show them my Driver's license, but as an additional driver with Alamo (before Insiders) and Thrifty I did need to show the DL.

okay, thank you, i'll skip the call/hold time & just stop @ the counter.

national's different though, as i was just added on master rental agreement (timesaver).

These codes raised my rates by $80, but I want to continue to try to get a lower rate than what I have now. I will keep trying.

I am an Insider, but I have to pick up the car at the airport without my husband, so I cannot possibly show his D/L when I pick up the car - instead, I used the ID 430710 (Walmart code) and it adds an additional driver for free.

I am not sure this actually is the same thing. I think they still need a D/L from the other driver.

^ She is correct, or at least that has been our experiences.

We did the quick check-out thing online where we put my DL info and my sisters info in (no charge for the 2and driver using a BJ's code) but Alamo checked both DL's and the CC at the gate on the way out of the AP parking lot.

I don't believe my wife would be an eligible driver unless we gave Alamo her DL info.

Just had to share...a laughable moment for the day.

Went to see if my reservation would drop any further today. I was going through my usual codes, changing IDs and coupons #s with nothing good happening for a standard size car, Oct 15-24. Then I decided to see what would happen if I checked the box that said edit car selection. When I got to my car selection page, I saw EVERY price over $1,200 :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

But when I clicked through, it was showing rates like before, in the $300-400 range. So be paitent, the modify reservation function can be your best friend or your worse enemy! :surfweb:

Needing minivan from 10/28 at sfb to 11/4 drop off at pie. Used Travelocity code on budget to get rate of $225 with taxes its $301.71. Coupon codes of mugz029 and muwz023 didn't decrease the rate. Tried Alamo 7015504 and AD2338FDF codes that came up with $469ish. Anyone getting anything better during this timeframe? And if so, what codes are you using?

that's what i was told when i did call this afternoon.

Alamo no longer has master rental agreements ala national unless it's a corporate type code with specific employees listed upon it. I pressed that I thought I had completed an agreement years ago, but was told when the new & improved insider program was rolled out, the agreements on file were phased out.

Even though a spouse is eligible drive 'free' with most insider reservations, unless you present the person/DL @ the counter every rental, they aren't technically eligible to drive the vehicle.

i'm just the messenger here, no flames please.;)just stating what i was told for others who aren't alamo regulars.

the 2nd person I spoke to (supervisor) advised me that if it was important enough to me to avoid visiting the counter, I could just add myself to the existing reservation and pay the approx $10 more a day. This is just as you would do with any other person(s) in your party who would be driving the rental vehicle (i.e. friends, extended family, etc).

i'm not about to chance it by not stopping & show my ID @ the counter. If i'd get into a fender-bender can imagine the grief to plead my case to alamo after the fact. Just as i won't book a low corporate code that gives free LDW that i know i'm not eligible to use.

I could just keep the national res (where i am on the master rental agreement for DH account) but it's worth a cool $100 (difference in price of the two rentals) to stopy by the alamo counter & say 'hi':)

I am at $301 also with Budget. The mugz coupon amount won't be taken off until you return the car from what I understand. I have starting trying for a van with Priceline, but both times I have been turned down. It's still early for them though. Budget has the best price so far on minivans.

Oh my travel dates are 10/16-22 (Sunday - Saturday).

I know it is tough for some folks to be patient, but after months of having a minivan over or at the $300. mark, last night I went back to Alamo and got it for $112. for 5 days. We leave tomorrow.
I used the Insiders code of 7014667 and the Alamo $40 off coupon (think it is now $35.) the weekly rate is listed at $139.83.
Sometimes the waiting game is truly worth it!! :thumbsup2

Is the mugz coupon a costco coupon? Do you have to be a costco member to use it?

Wow, the closer we get to our trip the higher the prices. I just checked my price for National (10/15-29) and was hoping it would drop from the $500 quote I'm holding. It changed alright, it went UP. Now over $600. I'm about 3 weeks away, so still hoping for some drops in prices.

Do you know if you will have to show anything to get these rates? What codes are these from? They lowered my rate by $25. Just curious.

Both those rates are alamo insider rates that you get if your a Alamo insider subscriber. I got the coupon via email so I'm not sure if I'll need it at the gate.

I am trying to rent a car for October 13th in the WDW area with Alamo and returning it at Miami Intl Airport... No luck so far. All cars are sold out at any WDW location, even MCO...

"Our apologies...

Alamo is completely sold out of vehicles at:

Orlando Intl Arpt from 10/13/2011 to 10/18/2011

Sold out"

It is strange, I even changed the "Where do you live?" question when asked in the Alamo Web Page... not luck with it yet... :confused3:

I have tried it several times in different hours to avoid the Alamo webpage recurring algorithms :surfweb:, but no luck at all. I am a registered Alamo Insiders Member since January 2011 so I am not sure what is going on.

Any thoughts?

They are not "sold out" of cars, they are just sold out of vehicles with that code your using. If you removed the code it will show you the vehicles available.
