October 2011 Car Rental Rates

Both those rates are alamo insider rates that you get if your a Alamo insider subscriber. I got the coupon via email so I'm not sure if I'll need it at the gate.

I just looked at my email and I had the code too so I think I will be fine!
Thanks!

I aM OVERWHELMED! I have posted a couple times asking questions. I waiting as the thought was rates would go down did I wait too long? the rates seem higher. I need one mini van or suv from mco October 10(5pm)-22(8am) and I need what ever is cheap for a second midsize or bigger for smae as above or oct 11 (from wdw care centre) to oct 21 I have spend hours and hours...I do not know how to bid on priceline.

If someone could help I would appreciate it I am getting toatally stressed out.

oh yes I am a visa holder, costco member (canada) and a caa member if that helps

They are not "sold out" of cars, they are just sold out of vehicles with that code your using. If you removed the code it will show you the vehicles available.

I have removed all codes and coupons, even I logged out not be considered a member, etc. all sort of possible combinations (I am a Data Analyst... I am used to it...) but still no luck.

I found renting a car at Miami Airport and returning it there, seemed to solve the problem, using the SUNPROMO code and coupon AD2724FZA. But the car I rented (at least what I have for confirmed reservation, 420 USD from Oct 7 - Oct 18) is a Full Size SUV, like a Tahoe or similar, 50 dollars cheaper than the 7-passengers mini van I was originally trying to rent... So far I will be keeping this reservation but I wonder about the MPG for the SUV...

Funny thing, if you pick up and drop off in the same WDW location, e.g. Dolphin Resort, or even drop the car off MCO, they have plenty of cars, the thing is when you try to drop off outside Orlando area (e.g. Miami Airport), the cars are sold out.

Treehugnmama - sent you a PM with an example of how to go about getting rates and waiting for them to come down.Hope it might help you.

Sure its kinda pointless to report. But using the same exact codes I used for my $181 rate, standard size, Oct 15-24, its now showing $440 ($523 no codes).

I keep reading on these thread posts that say "just wait rental cars will go down" (or words to that effect!)

There is NO guarnatee they will go down They MAY go up. Holidays, conventions, Disney events, lots of school breaks, etc.... all impact the rental car market. If supply starts to get tight prices will go up!

Treehugmama's post above is a prime example... she kept waiting and now it may be even costlier.

if it were me I would book what I could live with and then rebook if I found a deal, but waiting and waiting is just as likely to cost you as to save you...

That is what I do. It is pointless NOT to do this since it doesn't cost anything to cancel. Good advice for newbies to the rental car game :goodvibes

Sounds like they are wanting to keep the cars in the orlando area.

Wow reading through this I guess we were lucky..... originally I had a mid sized booked through dollar for $200 from Oct 6 at 11pm to Oct 11 at 5pm - checked Alamo a week or so ago with no codes and got $129 before taxes - add the coupon for a free day I found and total including taxes is $122. Checked again today and same rental through Alamo is back up to $250+ :confused3:scared1:

id venture that the specialty car you're renting might be the issue. MIA might not want or keep them in stock @ their site/MCO might not want their's to leave their immediate area.

I realize you might need the seating of larger vehicle but, have u tried pricing a mid-size up to standard just for giggles?popcorn::

I know ur knowledgeable but don't forget to remove any IATA code that may self populate near bottom of page before repricing;)

Thank you for your suggestion, I already did remove the IATA thingy :) but no luck at all...

Regarding the car type selection, I don't get to the screen where it says which car I can choose... the "Sold Out" message pops up right there after clicking the continue button when choosing dates and locations...

As someone mentioned, they might want to keep all cars in the Orlando area... (compact to full size SUV no matter the car type)...

:confused3

ean = if you belong to AAA try booking directly through their website.

when i checked my rates thru them just now, i plugged in your info & saw lots of options.

fyi for those who missed the low-rate alamo boat;)hertz had an 8 day intermediate rental for my dates for $217. There was a $75 off coupon out there, not sure if it's still working, would need to go to actual hertz AAA site or google.

good luck

keishashadow, unfortunately I don't live in the USA or Canada, so I am not eligible to be AAA member. Thank you anyway! Finally I rented with Alamo the following car:

I got my lowest rate last week using code 7014667. If I'm an alamo insider, am I eligible to use this? I see the code everywhere on this thread, but I'm not sure what it's linked to:confused3

Use Alamo Insiders ID# 7014667 to get 20% off Alamo airport rentals in Florida, Arizona, Las Vegas, California or Hawaii. Valid on rentals through 9/26/11 (but I found it worked for an early October rental in Orlando). You must enter your Alamo Insiders number and last name for this ID# to work.

-from Mousesavers

I am using the code also along with the other insiders coupon for $35 off.

We finally joined Alamo Insiders and since joining have not had one decent rate. From now on, I think when we need a car we will skip using the Insiders codes or choose another company.
