Looking for rates for 10/22-10/31.

Keeping fingers crossed, come on lower rates!!!!!

I think that code is only good for rentals at the Regal Sun hotel location. IT is located across the street from DTD - The big tall samon/pink colored hotel across from the bus stop for DTD.

Also try the code "kisse" when renting from Dollar. It is a code anyone one can use.

I just tryed the code 2MVME and it change the van rental rate from $65 to $45 per day for a 1 day rental this week.

I think I know why it may not be working...I'm picking up on Sep 30th...sorry, the oi1054 is good for anytime at that location though, I used it last year.

Same here. Looking for 10/20 - 10/30. Went to Alamo today. Holy BLEEP! What is going on?!? $645 for an ECONOMY?!? :confused3 Full size is $731?!?

Seriously, am I missing something about October this year? Is there something going on in Orlando that I'm clueless about? We've gone a few times before around this same time and have always gotten really great deals through Alamo. This year, the rates have gone from ridiculous to outlandish. I've been watching them for the last 3 months and they're going up instead of down. I can only hope the rates start droping once we get inside 30 days...

Holy smokes! I have a mid size rental for OCt 20 through oct 30. Did it back in April for $232 with taxes and fees. Grateful I did it then. I remember at the time another poster (a newbie) asked the question on this board when they should be looking for October rentals and a couple of people ridiculed her for looking so early that they don't even start until about a month or 2 before they go. So many experienced and helpful people told her to look NOW as you do now know what the prices will do...hopefully she did!

The rates are high in October this year because I am going in October instead of my usual thanksgiving. anyone going in November this year will be graced with low rates instead of the usual skyrocket rates. Sorry Penny.

When I called to try to change our arrival date with DVC, the CM told me that many states are now having a Fall Break (like Spring Break) and that it is the same week as Columbus day weekend. This is the week we've always gone since it's our anniversary but this will be the last trip on our anniversary based on how crowded it seems like it will be.

Good luck!!!

Oh great. We've also gone during this time and love it since the crowds are minimal. I purposely picked 10/13 for our arrival date since it is AFTER Columbus Day weekend.

Jeez thanks!!! :lmao:

We were originally driving from southern PA then I snagged Southwest flights for 79 each way plus used my husband's bump flight credit so it only cost us out of pocket something like $376 roundtrip for 4 of us.
With the way the rental car prices are, we may be driving again and then using the credits for another trip.

The Alamo and National coupons that I could use yesterday, are not able to be applied today. Guess I should have booked yesterday.

Meh! Fall Break. They just went back to school. Now I don't want to get on a rant here (to borrow from Dennis Miller) but no wonder kids in the US continue to fall behind their counterparts in other countries. I work from home on Fridays and I see the neighborhood kids leaving for school around 8:30am and then they're walking back home around 1:30pm. A 5-hour school day. Nice...

Thanks. We did actually try to plan around that. Columbus Day is October 11 this year and we purposely avoided the week before and the week of/after hoping to miss the crowds. Looks like maybe the car rental companies are expecting Columbus Day crowds to linger a little longer. Or maybe Alamo is just out of their cotton-picking minds.

Anyway, I did some digging and if you're a BJ's wholesale club member (we recently joined through DW's work), you can get some more realistic rates from Dollar today. Mid-size for around $260/week, full-size for around $270/week.

Use corporate code BJ5013. I don't know if they ask for proof that you're really a member when you check out or not, so use at your own risk if you're not a member.

I may have to try this. I think my mother got something in the mail for a trial membership to BJ will have to snag that from her.

My reservation was through BJs as well but was with Alamo before they went insane, lol :rotfl:

Good luck all!

Used the BJ codes that were posted and currently have a full size booked with Dollar from Oct 22 930pm to Oct 31 430pm for 363.46 including taxes and other charges
The rate was 195 for the week and 2 days at 39 each.

Keeping fingers crossed that a better deal comes along.

My rates with Alamo haven't went up since last week but it will not let me apply the Entertainment coupon (glad I booked last week with it!), but National has lost their mind! I thought maybe I put in the wrong code or something (one that added L&W added it) but nope. For 9.5 days they want $700 for a full size :scared1: There has to be a glitch in their system or the rate setter is on some powerful mind altering drug:rolleyes1

I've noticed that on National the rates for early October has gone down to a more reasonable amount. However, there is still a coupon glitch going on and hopefully they'll get it fixed. My coupon works for my September reservations, but not for the October one and that is using the online coupon that is good until the end of the year. I'm guessing they are in the process of making somea adjustments, so will be patient to see if I can get a better rate for my Oct. 31-Nov. 12 reservation.

I feel the same way. I cannot even modify my existing ressie with the same coupon. They have to be doing something. We can only hope they are lowering the prices.
I have a full size booked for Oct 14 thru Oct 21 for 227 taxes and fees included. Not a bad price but I want to add another day so will be watching.

Historically I've gotten the best rates with their last minute prices the week before but it's still good to find a good rate early to be safe. It seems like this year will be a lot busier in October.
