October 19, 2008 4 day Bahama - anyone else?

We are late dinner seating.

I booked the Dolphin Encounter at Atlantis. The other encounter in Nassau was already full when I got on at midnight at 75 days out. It is quite a bit more expensive, $285/person, but does include the Atlantis water park after, which alone is $165/person, and wet suits for the dolphin encounter and lite lunch. Also bus instead of boat to Atlantis. The other one is by small boat & with my luck I would be seasick till I got there & not be able to enjoy myself anyway. I am going all out for the rest of the trip, too, so might as well bite the bullet on this and go for it. This is going to be a trip of a lifetime for us. May never be able to afford such luxury again, so I might as well make the most of it.

good for you guys.:thumbsup2 make the most of it.:thumbsup2
make each day count(from titanic) wait, best not to be quoting the movie titanic when we are going on a cruise right?

Hello Everyone!

Stenogoddess & IAFigment tell your kids to look for some e-mails soon!
Anyone else taking kids that want to trade e-mails? Looks like we have an age span of 10 to 13, that is right now!

We've tossed around the idea of linking dining reservations together, and I'm happy to spearhead that process. If you would like to be linked to our dis Late Diners group, please pm me your dcl reservation number, number of guests with that reservation that need to be linked, and full name of at least one member of your traveling party (probably best if it's the person that is listed as passenger 1 on your reservation) by Wednesday, August 13.

Cheers!

Pam,

I'm Robin, Mike's (dyerneeds) better half. :rotfl2: Thanks for taking the lead and linking our dining. Sounds like fun.

Mike's says this cruise is just going to be a relaxing one. :lmao:

 We've never relaxed on any cruise we've been on. If you read our trip report from 2007, you'll know what I mean. I have to say we do have a good time when we cruise. (spending every night in Rockin Bar D)

I try, but I can never relax on a cruise because I want to do everything. :confused3 I usually wake up at the crack of dawn to watch the sun come up. Poor Mike doesn't get much sleep. ;)

We're looking forward to dining with you and hopefully others. You never know... maybe we'll run in to some of our dis friends from this thread at Wave Band.

In regards to a dis meet...

On past cruises we have always met at the Mickey pool at 3PM the day we board. That always seem to be the best place because it gave the kids a chance to swim while we met.

If anyone is interested or has any other suggestions, feel free to jump in. :thumbsup2 :cool1:

It's getting close. :woohoo:

We are going to Atlantis in Nausau and we are doing the first stingray adventure at castaway cay.

We did the stingrays at Grand Cayman last October. It was amazing. We were taken out in a boat near an Island. I climbed off the boat and as soon as I got in the water I had 4 stingrays on top of me. :lmao: Mike was already in the water and I freaked out practically climbing on Mike's shoulders. Mike was cracking up. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Once I got used to them brushing up against me, I was fine, but I didn't expect them to be on top of me. :confused3

They were so neat. They each have their own personalities and each one looked a little different. They are so gentle. I was surprised.

I would definitely do that excursion again. :cloud9: :thumbsup2

Sorry to hear about DW's Dad & your pooch. I feel your pain. My Mom passed away in November just before Thanksgiving and my birthday. 3 weeks ago we had to put our 13 year old kitty to sleep and a week later his 14 year old buddy kitty died of a broken heart.

This trip is much needed time for us to get ourselves together again. Dad passed away will be 10 years this September 11 and I had most of the responsibility for Mom until one of my brothers retired 3 years ago and started to help. By that time Mom was in assisted living so things had eased up a little. DS was still in High School during this time and needed attention too, besides me working full time. DH was a very big help thru all this even with losing his Dad during that time.

Now it is time for us to all go on with our lives and live them to the fullest.
We took DD & her DH with us to WDW last October, so this year is DS's turn. He turned 21 in March and graduated from Automotive Training School in July, so he earned this trip too.

Pam,

Thanks for taking the lead and linking our dining. Sounds like fun.

I'm happy to help where I can. The reason for the August 13 date is because I'm going to be on business travel from the 15th-22nd, and I'd like to get this in the works before the trip.

It's been a hectic year for us too, but we've not had any losses this year. We can't wait to just sit back and enjoy this trip--- even the days at WDW before and after. Being a DVC owner, we really have come to view the BWV as our home away from home. Anytime we need a break from everything, the first place we think of is BWV-- and most of the time we don't even go into the parks.

The only activity (besides eating) that we have planned for this cruise is the 1hr. excursion on Castaway Cay with the wave runners. However, if I could find a better deal for renting wave runners while in Nassau, we'd do it.

A Dis meet at 3pm by the Mickey Pool works for us-- but I can't say that I won't show up with an umbrella drink :thumbsup2

Cheers!

just curious, or nosey:lmao: . who has early and who has late dining?

We are early since we have two kids. My parents will be cruising as well, so we're a table of 6.

I'm very excited that they are coming. They always said that they weren't cruisers, but I'm determined to show them what a cruise is really like. How can anybody not enjoy a Disney cruise?? They are going to love it. They are 70 and 73 and typically do the same vacation every year, a ski trip to Vail in December. But now that skiing is getting more difficult for them, I want to introduce them to a low impact way to vacation. They won't be doing the WDW portion of our vacation, they'll be flying in the night before the cruise and staying at the airport Hyatt. I don't think they'd enjoy following us around theme parks at hyper-speed, LOL!

It's getting so close!!

IAFigment-- we've been looking into the Atlantis day-trip as well, booking a room at the Comfort Suites. Have you done this before? It looks like we can get a room for what DCL is charging for 1 adult to do the waterpark adventure at the Atlantis.

Normally we don't even get off the ship, but DH saw the web site for the water park-- and he was sold!

Cheers,
Pam

10 weeks from today we'll be in wdw. :wizard: :wizard:

We're not doing dining this trip...last cruise was a nightmare with trying to get the girls to sit through the dinner service. After 2 meals in the dining rooms, we decided to just eat room service. So they better get that room service menu ready, cause where coming again....:lmao:
