October 19, 2008 4 day Bahama - anyone else?

Hello everyone! Were going! Yea!! Our first ever Cruise! (Though a bit nervous about sailing and everyting!) Add us to the list!
Lots of questons! First of all Boys ages 13 and 11 will they have fun??

Welcome Snowball! Don't be nervous. You all are going to love it. Your boys will have a great time. I'll have my brother and sister, 13 and 11, with me. They are so excited to go, too. I can recommend the Passporter to Disney Cruise Line book since it's your first trip. All you ever wanted to know and more. Plus, we'll be here for you, too!

I saw your earlier posts your brother & sister are the same age groups as my kids are~! We will have to keep in touch! Do you know if the kids can participate in the same activities since they are actuall in two differnt age groups? My 11 year old is basicly my shadow and I am looking forward to him makeing some friends on board. Are there any meets scheduled yet! I'm so excited!!!

I don't know about being able to do the same activities. I think the teenagers are kept more apart from the smaller kids, but don't quote me on that. I've never actually been in the kid areas so I'm pretty clueless about that. I know that on previous DCL cruises I've been on there has been a kids chat set up as we get closer to the date, so we might think about doing that. I'm not sure how that was accomplished, but I'm sure we can figure something out.

Snowball and crew, welcome aboard! You're gonna love it!!! We don't have any meets scheduled yet--- I'm sure that will happen as we get closer.

IAFigment, good news is if you can't get your Palo reservation online, you'll be getting to the port early enough to get your reservation once you're onboard (they hold reservations for that very purpose).

Cheers!

Dyerneeds and Tart Annihilator, we've got our fingers crossed for you with the contract issue. But, I do have one question...... were you just getting to bed after you took the pic at 5am? You guys are party animals! :woohoo:

Welcome, snowball! We just paid the balance on the cruise the other day and now I'm starting to get excited again! Summer plans were getting in the way of my Disney obsession, LOL.

My 11 year old is basicly my shadow and I am looking forward to him makeing some friends on board.

We have 2 boys, they will be 9 and 6 at the time of the cruise. The older one, Mitch, is really looking forward to the Oceaneer's Club. Hopefully he'll have enough in common with your 11 year old that they'll become friends.

We're also bringing my parents with us, they have a secret verandah room and we have one of the secret porthole rooms. Shhh...we're the secret family, LOL!

So...I really want a fish extender, do you all do this? My questions are (1) do you know anybody that makes them? I've checked ebay and etsy and only 1 came up so far. (2) Do I do 4 pockets and include myself and DH, or just do 2 pockets for the kids?

DS 6, Grant, asked for a Toy Story themed one, so I was thinking about getting some fabric and some iron on patches of the characters for the 4 pockets and giving it my best effort. Any veterans out there that have any tips? And who else will be hanging a fish extender outside their room??

Since we'll be at WDW for several days before the cruise, I figured I'd stock up on some little goodies to distribute to others while we are on the cruise.

Elasta-Girl: We've not participated with the fish extenders on our previous cruises, but I was able to find this thread that talked about how to make one (post #27): http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1219607&page=2

Hope that helps. If others want to do the fish extender surprise drops, post your suggestions on this board and I'll add them to the post on the first page with the roll call.

Cheers!

we were staying at the raddison near the port and were TOO EXCITED TO SLEEP!!:wizard: we both woke up about 4:30 and someone had told us the magic rolls back into port about 5, so we headed over hoping to see it and we timed it just right.:thumbsup2
it was one of those moments you remember forever.

my contract was voted down by 2 votes yesterday.:headache:
they tweeked the offer and we are going to vote again at 5 today so we're hoping for the best.:wizard: :wizard:

party animals.:lmao: :rotfl2:

Good luck with your contract. My Dad has had to strike before, and I still remember it. It's terrible for the whole family. Pixie Dust for you and your co-workers!

Thanks! OK, I'm super new to this, so what is the surprise drop thingy? Do we have to pre-plan exactly who we are doing the exchange with or do we just bring a bunch of goodies and share the wealth at random??

And I enlisted my super-seamstress mother to make a Toy Story themed fish extender for us. I can't wait to post pictures when she's done!

I am so excited to be going on my first Disney Cruise. My kids have a fall break from school so we jumped on the chance to cruise at the bargain rates offered in October.

I have learned so much from all of your posts and look forward to an enjoyable cruise. I already made my Palo brunch and dinner reservations last night. I'm glad I did as the brunch is already filled.

Can't wait until October 19th!

J

Welcome aboard PrincessaJasmine!!!

I have a question for everyone though. I have a DS that is 10 and was wondering if anyone else has kids around that age that might like to email ahead of time so they kind of know someone that is going.

this will be our 5th cruise. all disney. 2 wonders and 2 7 nite magics.:wizard:
thinking of taking the disney bus over to the port on sail away day.
lots to plan so i'll check back later.:wizard: :wizard:

Well we did it. I got my DSis to call and get our reservation worked out. There was something wrong with it and actually though we were doing a double dip. I told her we would take one if they gave it to us. :rolleyes1

But we did get the Palo reservations for the day at sea. I though that would be a nice why to end the cruise.

We also got the first stingray adventure time at Castaway Cey. I'm so excited.

We also got a reservation at Comfort Suites in Naussa for the 20th. So we will be doing Atlantis. We got a really good deal this way and I'm so excited because I have always wanted to go there.

And we switched from first to second dinner seating because we want to make sure we have plenty of time at Atlantis.

I'm so excited!!! Any one else want to share plans?

What's every one thing about the fish extenders? I can make one if people are wanting to do this. Sounds like fun.

And are we going to try and meet?:grouphug:

heres another pic from last years cruise to get everyone excited.:thumbsup2
not that you wernt already excited.:lmao:
