Ok, I'm reaching far, far back into my school shriveled brain.... this is what I remember from last year...

According to my Key to the World Card, this was my rotation: LAAPLAP

So, I ate in Animator's Palate on Sunday and Monday night. Sunday night was our first rotation there, so we had the color change, the second night was the celebration of The Golden Mickey's, and it was formal night. We had a special menu for the evening.

Wow. I can't believe that I can remember!

We had PLLAPLA on our Western this past November. I requested this rotation since it would put us in Lumiere's for both Formal & Semi-Formal Night; and Parrot Cay for Pirate Night. Of course I didn't actually make it to dinner on pirate night though after margaritas in Cozumel (for the 2nd cruise in a row, actually!) It turned okay though since I was recovered enough by the time the pirate party rolled around to stuff my face at the fajita buffet!

I've sailed many times and for the 7-night cruises it was always APLAPLA, or some other similar variation. When did they start doing back-to-back dining at the same place? I'll never be able to remember where I'm going without my keycard now! I wonder what purpose this serves......

You know, our beloved server, Wilson told us why last year, but I honestly can't remember. I think it was just to give a special opportunity for it to be fancy, like an awards show red carpet feeling... I know everyone likes their rotation to have Pirate Night in PC, but honestly, if you had Wilson as your server.... He is soooo wonderful!! I would follow him on any rotation! He's precious!

We actually are not stressing over our rotation, given that we really don't know what to expect. Maybe we should be? Our last cruise was so short and did not have Pirate nights or formal night. So this cruise we are just going to be very casual about things and really hoping to get a night a Palo though.

Does anyone have the inside scoop on the latest rotations..? I was told your fourth night is a repeat of the third night.. is that true? ...

That must be a relief to get off the waiting list. How did you find out about your main seating? TA? DCL? Did you call one of them? Just curious.

Actually, I upgraded us from a Cat 10 (I think) to a Cat 6 without telling my husband. Initially, we agreed we didn't need a veranda, but then, I decided I wanted one.... He leaves vacation details to me, for the most part.

Sounds familiar....


As for wanting a veranda, I gotta have it. To be honest, I've never stayed in a cabin with a porthole, so maybe I would be okay with one, but I definitely am not okay in an inside room. Dh and I tried it on our last cruise.

My dad just invited my family to cruise with his wife and him next November. His treat. He has some vouchers he has to use up by the end of next year. When I told him dh and I would pay the difference if he would book us a balcony room, I thought he'd tease me about being a princess or a big baby but he didn't. I take that back, a couple days ago when he emailed me to tell me he made the reservations, he mentioned that we will have our balcony and that his wife and he would be sleeping with the peons.

Hi all- we have been crazy busy with the kids being on sumer break. I just wanted to hi. I am going to try and join the Yahoo group soon. We have the late seeting and have kids. Between dance/gymnastics scheduals and my DH work schedual we seem to eat late often so this should work for us. We are really excited to be able to plan excursions etc. But, we are just winging it for our dinning rotation. I went on a Disney Cruise when I was twenty and I don't remember enough of it to have to strong of a preference.

Yes, I request Wilson on every cruise. I always ask him if he will be under contract at the time I plan to sail the following year. He has been with DCL since the inception. There really are great people who enjoy taking care of us out there!!

Having said that, I like being organized so I don't end up being disappointed if I really want something .. and there are some things you can't do at the last minute.

I'm the planner and my hubby just goes with the flow.. so we cancel each other out

Same here. I'm a planner, dh is not. His idea of getting ready for a vacation is on the night before the trip he starts throwing stuff into a duffle bag. The morning of departure he'll computer search directions or ask me if I did.

I get a lot of satisfaction out of planning for our vacations and having things turn out well because of the work that went into it. What you said is especially true when it comes to a Disney Cruise. Before our first cruise, Dh had no idea how worth it was going to be for me to hang out on this board and read my Passporter like a bible.

Yeah Monica -- My hubby was surprised when I knew about the Tea with Alice, the Gingerbread house decorating etc.. (we were on a pre christmas cruise).. I love knowing the ins and outs of the disney cruise.. don't get me wrong, I love surprises too but not unpleasant ones

We are in the same boat (bad pun intended). Sometimes, I think it is easier not to agonize over stuff when you are brand new to something. Take WDW, for example. Since we have never been, I am currently trying to plan a trip for us in the not-too-distant future. Since we have never gone, I know we will be happy about everything. I am not getting TOO hung up on where we eat, etc. Now don't get me wrong, all of this may change before we actually leave. I mean, I know planning is important and I do enjoy it, but I don't want to take ALL the spontaneity out of things.

I heard about the cruise when I went to a Disney Show in Toronto.. with my daughter who was then about 2 years old.. they said it was awesome (overheard some moms talking) and then I was like.. what? There's a cruise???? AWESOME!

I was hooked on finding out about it and then booked (in February) for December that year..

Hey - Great idea, Sue!

I am not sure how I heard about it. Likely, I saw something about it on Disney's website when researching a Disneyland trip. The funny part is, I used to insist I would never set foot on a cruise ship, but when I started reading about DCL that all changed. Now, I can't wait to get going!

Almost finished school!! Had a big party to celebrate my upcoming 40th on sat which went really well and now trying to think about our summer vacation. We first heard about dcl when we saw a ship model in one of the hotel lobby's. Mum always insisted she would never cruise - she said she would be bored. Well 10 or so cruises later you can see she isnt!

Hi Everyone! We just came home last night from about a week in Pennsylvania visiting DH's family. Trying to play catch up today.

As for the "question of the day"...not sure where/when we first heard about Disney Cruises...probably on the Travel Channel or something. I do remember picking up a brochure at WDW a few years ago when we took the kids. We looked at it and said someday that will be a great vacation. Well, on a whim I brought it up to DH a couple of months ago as a fun way to celebrate his 40th bday and now here we are...anxiously waiting to go on our first cruise!

I remember the Premier Cruise Line's Big Red Boat featuring land and sea packages from ages ago. Fast forward a decade or so...

My former next door neighbor is as big a Disney Nut as I, but she has deeper pockets (ha!) and funds multiple trips each year. I remember her going in 2006, and brining me a t-shirt back from the cruise. I want to say that she went the year prior, but that is pushing it. At the time, she was a single mom. She and her ex have a SUPER relationship and would go on family vacations with the DD. Steve was always up to going to the parks, but a cruise just was not his thing. He had a nice time, sure, but, I guess he liked the park atmosphere. The gig was that they went on the cruise every other year, and the park every year. It was park for spring break and cruise for fall break on the odd years. The DD decided that she LOVED the cruise and wanted to do it every year, so neighbor books 2 rooms for 07. One for the "family trip" and one for another single mom friend with a DD the same age. The ex said he was ok to just go every other year, if that would be ok, so neighbor offers her friend to bunk with her since they will have a pull down bed (there were fights over that pull down!). Now she has an extra room.... I waffled a bit as to whether or not I wanted to take a cruise, not sure if it was for me... But seeing as there was this extra reservation already floating around, and I had been super stressed with work, I decided to treat myself and offered to take that ressie. Best decision of my LIFE! First cruise in 07 and I have made a committment to do this for myself every year to decompress!! Sure, there are places in the world I still want to see, but I will always take my Disney Cruise!!
